Let me try to do this from the perspective of a half black, half Latino person myself. If I did something significant, like become an astrophysicist, or win a Nobel prize, or even become fucking Spiderman, I’d want to be known for WHAT I did. I’d want to be known for my success, and accomplishments, I’d want to be known as “Me, the astrophysicist.” Not “Me, the black astrophysicist.” I do not want to be boiled down to the color of my skin.
