Honest Question
Why do so many people (I am particularly looking at the VOY parents) get SO ANGRY about skirt lengths? Like they start calling these children (and everyone else tbh) indecent. Do I think it looks a bit tacky when someone’s bloomers can be seen while they’re standing still, sure (but that’s mostly because it looks like a diaper if it was your short Nike Pros, I probably wouldn’t care). But I’m not scandalized by it. And I don’t really know why people get huffy about being able to see someone’s hands below their skirt, like, why do they get so angry that we have hands just like them? Would they call a ballerina indecent? Or a gymnast? (I have seen them get disparaging about how close we are getting to ice skating outfits so they must think that is scandalous lol). I know that one argument that they like to scream about is “BUT TRADITION”, but like, I’d like to see you try dancing in one of those old three-panels. And I feel certain that if the cultural climate had allowed it at the time, they would have worn shorter skirts too. Dancing or really doing anything athletic with some bulky fabric/cardboard flapping against your legs is a hindrance (And probably why many sports these days opt for tight and short). IDK the whole thing is just dumb to me. (don’t even get me started on collarbones, cutouts, and sheer fabric. I can see your arm skin, the HORROR!)
