My Honest Experience Working at a Startup
I joined DGN Social, a startup, recently, hoping to grow my skills in digital marketing and build a strong foundation in the field.
At the time, I was told that the first month would be unpaid, followed by a stipend for the next three months as it would be a “training period.” But the reality was quite different.
From day one, I was assigned regular tasks without any structured training or support. Despite working hard and staying committed, I was constantly given excuses when it came to payments — sometimes a family emergency, sometimes health issues.
Meanwhile, I noticed that while there were delays in paying me, there seemed to be no issue with spending elsewhere.
I completed nearly six months with the company, without a proper offer letter, no written agreement, and was paid only for 2 months in total. It was disappointing and mentally exhausting.
This experience taught me one thing — always ask for clarity upfront. No matter how small or new the company is, your time and effort deserve respect.
I’m sharing this because I know many freshers and interns face similar situations. Speak up, ask questions, and value your worth. ✨
