Where are the communities for queer people who’d rather go to a cafe than a bar? Or the communities who’d rather go to the movies than do bondage? What do we get? Nothing. And when we do get something, it’s made fun of and called heteronormative.

I don’t watch heartstopper but I’ve seen the way people sneer at how soft and gooey it is. I can’t begin to imagine how that passive aggression must feel to a closeted teen who feels seen by that show.

Why is all of the queer media for adults either incredibly sexual or downright miserable? Where’s the queer equivalent to when Harry met sally? Or the princess bride? Where is the queer media that’s kind and gentle without being infantilising? I’m tired of relying on kids cartoons for representation.

If I get any comments or reblogs accusing me of supporting the Hayes code, you will be blocked. I am not advocating for queer media to be sanitised, I just want more options for entertainment, for social interaction.

I don’t care, I genuinely do not care. Yes I’m disappointed they changed her skirt and yes I’m disappointed they replaced pulonia, but I’ve long since stopped caring about what the genshin fandom has to say about female character design bc you guys are never satisfied. Even if sandrone’s design wasn’t fanservice y’all would still find something to complain about just like you did with linnea and Nicole.

And don’t think I haven’t noticed how you never have this kind of energy for the male characters. Dottore is a walking potential man archetype and yet you all glaze the fuck out of him. Lohen didn’t even exist until recently and looks nothing like what you would expect a knight captain to look like, but you drool over him bc he’s a yandere. You love to talk about how great Yun Jin’s design is but only when it’s time to complain that a character has a short skirt, you sound like conservatives and it’s fucking disgusting. This fandom is a misogynistic hellscape and I’m tired it being tolerated under the guise of feminism.

This game is 5 almost 6 years old, that’s more than enough time for you to decide that this game and this company aren’t worth your time and to play a game that respects its female characters, but instead you stay and complain like a girl whining about her boyfriend being a deadbeat but making no moves to leave him.

I’m not against critiquing companies when their female characters are designed poorly, but you do this with every fucking woman that gets added to the game - combined with how the comments of a female character’s drip marketing will get swarmed with people whining about the lack of male characters, I’m starting to notice a trend.

You are not feminists, you just want women to be seen and not heard but still maintain a girlboss image while men receive praise for the absolute bare minimum. Fandom is supposed to be a space for fun and respectful discussion and you (and 100 other fanbases) have sucked the joy out of it.

(Before you all hit me with the “leave my billion dollar company alone” meme, I 100% agree that hoyoverse is greedy and lazy - especially with primos - but as I’ve clearly stated before even when they design women the way you want them to, it’s still not enough. Me condemning the fandom doesn’t mean I’m defending hoyoverse.)

This whole media literacy is dead debate has kinda sucked the joy out of media consumption for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I highly encourage engaging with what you’re watching/reading with a critical eye, but overtime it feels like people (mostly on TikTok bc of course) have turned it into a “who can be the smartest person in the room” contest and if you fail for any perceived reason you’re shamed forever.

It feels like nobody is allowed to make mistakes in how they interpret things anymore.

There’s tons of stuff I’ve been dying to watch and read (namely David lynch’s filmography and books such as Frankenstein and Wuthering heights) but I’m scared to start bc I’m worried if I don’t immediately understand what’s going on or what the characters are saying, it’s proof that I’m a useless idiot and media literacy is indeed dying.

Bc i feel bad that the only directors i intend to watch the entire filmography of are men (David lynch, satoshi kon, etc) but it feels like most films made by recommended female directors are just ✨💖🌸being a girl is terrible and also very white🌸💖✨ and the ones made by female directors of colour are just abuse, misery and suffering but without the pink filter of white female films.
