Company of the Past || Glint/Titas/Caterina
Titas smiled at the couple of 4 and patted Dylan on the back, “Thanks guys.” He then knelt down beside the mutt’s body and warmed up his hands. He then turned to Glint, “We’ll stay up here for the night. give the lovers time to catch up.” He then walked to the top of the staircase and shouted down, “Terrence! Come up here for the night!” He then joined Glint at the wall.
“So. Glint, what are we going to do about them?” Titas asked whilst re positioning himself by the dead body and sorting his bag out.
Caterina nodded at the boy’s, and so did Dylan. The couple were good as a team, seeing as they could have eye conversations in a flash. When Titas said he and Glint were going to stay upstairs, Dylan seemed to get a little more comfortable. He had been a little worried about them trying to kill one of them in their sleep, and he knew Caterina thought it too.
Caterina trusted the two boys, but she was still cautious. Glint didn’t seem to happy to see her, or Dylan. This made her wonder why since he seemed content with Titas. What was the difference between her and Titas? She had left the cornucopia because it was stupid to stay. She had grabbed a pack, and left like the others, assuming the careers would follow her. It’s not her fault none of them caught on.
When the other two were upstairs, Caterina scooted into her sleeping bag, and Dylan slipped in next to her. He wrapped his arms around her, and they both fell quickly asleep by the fire. They knew these games were to be long, and they hoped they would survive.
With the beast dead and the quarreling stopped, the building finally felt like what it truly was; an abandoned house. It was the closest thing to civilisation that the tributes could get in the Arena. If he wanted to, he could just close his eyes and pretend that he was in his room, in his house, back in District 1. But he did not want to be home, not without the crown on his head. Perhaps it was a good thing that the games did not allow exactly that.
Glint released his grip on the weapons to flex his fingers. "We stick to the plan," he finalised. It was the safest path to follow at the moment. He was tired and his fingers were hurting from the freezing air, so another fight was the last thing that he wanted. It might be easy to kill them in their sleep, but they had proven useful so far, so keeping them for a little longer seemed like an alright idea. As long as they would not try to kill him- and he could never be sure. "Wait until the number gets low. After that... Well, we'll see." He straightened his legs, allowing blood to flow to the tips of his toes. "Tomorrow, we hunt."
