Glimpses of Greatness

I'm always more comfortable when things are constantly changing. I hate staying in one place, one party, one conversation, one relationship. Everything I do happens begins and ends with the blink of an eye, it is all hello, goodbye. I never know what to do when I open my eyes again and you're still here. It's hard to understand why you would be.  I watch you sleep every night and it makes me incredibly sad. Everything I want to tell you arrives as your eyes shut and departs as they flicker open once more. I look at you and I realize that someday I won't be able to. I don't know how long it will be but at some point I'll be staring at someone else, wishing it was you.  I've given up on being clever. It seems that particular talent has eluded me for some time now. Maybe it won't ever return, maybe it's like riding a bike. In any case, I'll keep writing. I'll put pen to paper as often as I can because I know it will make you happy. Even if the prose is shit and rhymes are non-existent, you'll still love it and that, among a couple of other reasons, is why I love you.
