Despite the fact that he loved Blaine, and he knew Blaine loved him, the two young men were not able to make their relationship work long term. They wanted and expected different things from each other and in the end one of them was always feeling hurt by the other. Even though it was difficult and Kurt considered it a big failure in his life (one he kept trying to turn into a success), they ended their engagement and relationship the spring after Blaine’s graduation. Kurt desperately missed their friendship and routines but it was too hard at first to be around each other and not be together. With time it became easier but Kurt also didn’t miss the other quite so much.
Kurt enjoyed his time at NYADA, learned a lot and made quite a few friends. He continued to date but made an effort to date men not from NYADA. Kurt also continued to learn a lot from Isabelle and the inner workings of vogue.com. While he’s not had a breakout role ok Broadway yet, he’s been in several choruses or gotten small bit parts over the years. He’s also moved up the ranks at vogue.com and has met many celebrities, models and designers. Romantically, Kurt has had a handful of relationships over the years, including his most recent with an assistant designer that lasted just over a year, and many first dates that he did not call again.
Currently he is single and on the rebound from his designer ex. But Kurt is looking forward to coming home knowing his life in New York and his experiences have improved his confidence and he is living the kind of life he dreamed of in high school (mostly) even if he doesn’t have a partner to share it with. Kurt is curious who else has had success, or failed, especially when it comes to the people he’s not kept in contact with.
