                                 𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉  𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒚  𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉  𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅  𝒂  𝒑𝒖𝒇𝒇  𝒐𝒇  𝒔𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆  into  the  winter  air  ,  ears  tinged  a  bright  strawberry  hue  ,  and  every  step  forward  formed  chills  that  ran  down  the  boy’s  spine  .  from  the  past  few  years  ,  five  or  maybe  it  was  six  ,  was  when  things  started  changing  for  him  .  the  first  few  murders  didn’t  seem  to  be  connected  at  all  ,  even  now  ,  they  weren’t  connected  in  any  way  he  could  think  of  .  however  ,  they  were  always  someone  in  a  close  proximity  to  him  .  perhaps  someone  in  the  same  town  ,  or  someone  who  he  had  sworn  he  had  encountered  some  way  or  another  .  that  wasn’t  possible  ,  because  the  only  way  that  could  be  true  would  be  if  he  was  the  culprit  behind  it  ,  right  ?  each  nightmare  had  lead  him  closer  and  closer  ,  as  if  a  warning  sign  ,  a  way  to  stop  the  madness  before  it  engulfed  everyone  around  him  .  the  night  before  he  had  an  interesting  dream  ,  he’d  never  been  somewhere  so  scary  ,  ruby  liquid  staining  the  floor  and  walls  as  if  to  decorate  them  .  he  had  just  wanted  to  wake  up  ,  because  although  these  dreams  would  make  him  able  to  find  these  murders  ,  he  could  never  see  the  person’s  face  nor  could  he  see  anything  that  happened  before  or  after  .  haneul  was  growing  more  and  more  anxious  night  after  night  ,  because  so  far  this  year  there  were  only  two  or  three  cases  he  was  aware  of  ,  so  he  had  been  expecting  another  dream  sooner  or  later  .  once  it  came  ,  he  was  ready  ,  and  waking  up  just  in  the  middle  of  the  night  to  catch  this  criminal  once  and  for  all  was  something  he  had  been  determined  to  accomplish  .  

                                  deep  breaths  ,  keep  your  calm  .  why  wasn’t  he  calling  for  backup  ?  well  ,  who  would  believe  him  for  seeing  this  crime  scene  in  his  dreams  ?  he  was  alone  in  this  ,  and  maybe  he  was  falling  right  into  a  trap  ,  but  it  meant  everything  to  save  one  life  .  he  had  to  be  having  these  dreams  to  save  at  least  one  of  them  .  it  was  too  much  to  bear  if  he  had  lost  another  one  ,  this  was  his  responsibility  .  haneul  hadn’t  thought  about  the  weather  ,  though  .  crystalline  feather  -  like  flakes  fall  in  silence  as  he  trudged  through  ,  each  step  filled  with  uncertainty  .  the  boy  hugged  his  coat  closer  ,  shivering  slightly  ,  hoping  this  would  be  the  last  time  he  would  ever  do  this  .  the  last  time  he  would  come  too  late  ,  and  definitely  the  last  time  he  witnessed  another  bloody  mess  .  

                                  shaky  hands  open  the  rusty  door  ,  leading  him  down  a  small  staircase  .  it  was  dark  ,  and  his  phone  was  the  only  source  of  light  he  was  relying  on  .  detectives  can’t  carry  loaded  weapons  ,  and  no  one  needed  to  know  that  he  had  painted  a  water  gun  black  just  to  look  intimidating  .  the  only  real  protection  he  had  was  a  tazor  ,  and  that  was  if  he  could  even  get  close  enough  without  getting  attacked  .  suddenly  the  scene  of  his  dream  was  before  him  ,  the  exact  setting  ,  and  he  almost  let  out  a  soft  gasp  before  seeing  movement  on  the  ground  .  “  are  you  alright  ?  oh  my  god  !  you’re  alive  !  ”  suddenly  he’s  taking  off  his  jacket  and  putting  around  the  other  on  the  ground  ,  “  can  you  walk  ?  do  you  know  where  who  did  this  to  you  went  ?  ”  relief  laced  his  words  ,  although  the  scene  before  him  was  absolutely  awful  ,  he  was  happy  .  haneul  had  waited  for  what  had  seemed  like  forever  for  this  moment  ,  the  one  time  someone  made  it  out  alive  .  “  come  with  me  ,  i’m  a  detective  .  i  promise  i  won’t  hurt  you  ,  we’ll  take  you  somewhere  safe  first  .  ”  he  was  so  grateful  that  this  was  finally  happening  that  he  didn’t  even  care  to  ask  anything  else  ,  wholeheartedly  believing  he  had  finally  saved  one  person  from  the  bloody  cycle  .

                         𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅  𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒆𝒔  𝒐𝒇  𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒅  𝒄𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉   bells  ring  vacant  in  his  ears   ,   as  the  distant  glow  of  a  hellfire  sun  dares  to  sink  below  that  of  a  horizon  lined  in  fragmented  opal   .   the  eye  of  a  universe  abandoned  by  god   ----   or  perhaps  a  timeline  the  divine  was  chased  away  from   ,   clawed  fingertips  scratching  at  molten  floors  and  bleeding  the  earth  dry  of  all  the  beauty  it  had  left   ,   grabbing  at  the  ankles  of  a  god  fallen  from  grace   ,   and  bringing  mangled  divinities  to  settle  just  as  the  sun  sets  behind  the  moon  during  a  lunar  eclipse   ;   hidden   ,   without  meaning   ,   in  a  fit  of  darkness  from  which  it  may  never  recover   ,   from  which  he  may  never  recover   .   a  silly  thought  to  come  across  a  mind  already  so  distorted  by  the  carvings  set  upon  his  rotting  bones   ,   truly   ----   ancient  lettering  binding  him  to  nothing  but  death  and  despair  outlining  his  fate  and  wounding  itself  about  the  inner  workings  of  his  ribcage   .   for  what  is  a  boy  silhouetted  by  the  shadows  of  death  meant  to  do   ,   if  not  let  those  very  same  shadows  grow  darker  and  heavier  within  the  light  of  an  ever - fading  sun   ?   what  is  the  purpose  of  washing  the  blood  from  hands  already  stained  a  velvet  crimson   ,   or  cleansing  the  mouth  of  a  monster  already  filled  with  decayed  flesh   ?   a  monster  is  still  a  monster  when  hiding  behind  the  kind  eyes  of  a  young  boy   ,   and  death  is  still  death  when  it’s  brought  upon  by  gentle  hands   .

                         the  world  falls  far  too  silent  when  it  snows   ,   cars  amiss  and  streets  empty   ,   leaving  nothing  but  the  sound  of  his  own  blood  pounding  in  his  ears  as  he  shoves  a  cheap  blade  into  the  mouth  of  a  man  who   ,   in  his  mind   ,   deserves  far  worse   .   tongue  cutout  and  forced  down  his  throat   ,   leaving  him  to  suffocate  on  his  own  flesh  and  blood  before  the  boy   (   how  do  you  make  monsters  out  of  boys   ?   )   drags  the  edge  of  that  very  same  blade  just  across  the  throat  of  the  chilling  corpse   ,   blood  gushing  from  the  wound   ,   coating  his  chest   ,   his  clothes   ,   the  lithe  fingers  of  the  boy  with  more  death  on  his  hands  than  that  of  the  grim  reaper  himself   .   the  silver  halo  of  the  moon  is  soaked  red  and  insik  is  gone  to  the  thrill  of  the  life  lost  at  his  hands   ,   heart  thrumming  against  the  cracks  in  his  ribcage   ,   pounding   ,   pounding   ,   pounding   ;   let  me  out   ,   let  me  out   ,   let  me  out   .   the  violent  shrieks  of  a  bleeding  heart  with  too  many  tales  to  tell  dares  to  expose  the  inner  workings  of  his  heart   ,   the  sins  seeping  from  his  hands   ,   to  the  world  just  beyond  the  blood - splattered  confines  of  the  room  he’s  dared  to  make  a  morgue  of   ,   to  give  him  over  to  his  beloved   ,   who  he’s  sure  is  scrambling  to  catch  up  to  him  with  each  never - ending  tick  of  an  upside  down  clock   .

                    there’s  no  time   ,   there’s  no  time   ,   as  the  ice  cold  winds  lick  at  the  tips  of  his  ears  and  all  but  whisper  to  him  of  the  impending  presence  of  he  who  he  does  all  this  for   ;   he  who  insik  will  cleanse  the  world  of  sin  to  please   ,   who  insik  will  play  a  game  of  cruel  god  for  simply  to  ensure  that  the  sun  will  shine  upon  him  for  just  one  more  aching  day   .   there’s  no  time  to  get  out   ,   to  clean  himself  up   ,   to  dispose  of  the  body  he’d  so  carelessly  bled  dry  but  mere  moments  ago   ,   there’s  no  time   ,   and  his  heartrate  picks  up  again   ----   this  time  in  something  akin  to  panic   ,   as  opposed  to  an  unsolicited  sort  of  thrill   ,   and  he  begins  to  move  not  of  his  own  accord   .   disassociation   ,   he  all  but  blacks  out  as  his  subconscious  takes  over   ,   disposes  of  the  body  in  a  way  insik’s  panicked  mind  would  never  have  dared  think  of   ,   and  then  drags  his  own  feet   ,   suddenly  far  too  heavy  against  the  floor   ,   toward  the  door   ,   the  exit   ,   his  one  and  only  escape   .

                         he  stops   ,   fingertips  touched  with  blood  freezing  over  his  flesh  grace  the  doorknob   ,   before  pulling  back  once  again   .   step   ,   step   ,   step   .   already   ?   so  soon   ?   mangled  heart  trembles  against  ivory  prison  bars   ,   excitement   ,   infatuation   ,   pure  and  unadulterated  obsession  licking  at  his  veins  and  pouring  into  his  bloodstream  and  leaving  him  somewhere  between  dying  and  to  die  for   .   my  love   ,   my  love   ,   my  love   ----

                         unwavering  hands  drag  his  own  blade  shallowly  across  his  cheek   ,   the  base  of  his  throat   ,   before  sheathing  it  into  his  abdomen   ,   not  deep  enough  to  seriously  wound  him   ,   but  just  enough  to  leave  him  bleeding  around  the  double - edged  silver   .   his  own  lifeline  mixes  with  that  of  the  life  he  just  took   ,   the  one  he  just  pried  from  unwilling  hands  and  swallowed  down  as  if  it  were  his  last  meal   ,   as  if  his  love  had  promised  him  his  heart  in  return  of  such  a  small  and  simple  favour   .

                         step   ,   step   ,   step   .

                         drops  himself  to  the  ground   ,   in  the  centre  of  the  bloodied  mess  of  his  own  creation   ,   just  as  the  door  creaks  open   ----   he  has  to  fight  against  his  very  will  to  not  smile  at  the  sight  of  he  who  he  would  take  life   ,   after  life   ,   after  life  for   .   the  masque  of  the  red  death   ,   it’s  a  pity  he  knows  such  a  title  must  catch  up  to  him  eventually   .

                                      𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏  𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒆𝒅  𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔  𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔  with  shame  ,  unknowingly  making  himself  more  so  vulnerable  than  anything  else  .  emotions  were  so  easy  for  others  to  express  and  feel  .  the  passion  that  came  with  giving  one’s  heart  to  another  ,  and  the  flittering  feeling  of  soft  butterflies  as  emotions  were  to  be  reciprocated  .  the  demon  had  never  known  such  feelings  ,  never  willingly  giving  his  heart  in  the  first  place  .  loveless  monster  thought  it  was  okay  to  play  with  others  ,  thought  it  didn’t  really  matter  when  they  had  been  in  pain  ,  begging  for  him  to  take  them  back  .  it  was  humorous  ,  how  he  had  played  with  them  the  same  way  as  he  was  being  treated  this  very  moment  .  one  could  say  that  the  demon  simply  had  it  coming  ,  lowlife  and  cruel  ,  something  had  to  get  him  back  .  was  this  what  he  had  deserved  ?  breaking  his  own  miniscule  and  worthless  beating  heart  ,  one  incased  in  dust  and  uncared  for  ,  chipped  into  rose  encrusted  fragments  .  one  that  hadn’t  known  love  was  now  craving  it  ,  to  be  cared  for  once  more  .  irony  bites  him  in  the  back  ,  ruthless  and  unmerciful  towards  the  petulant  screams  of  a  broken  boy  .  underneath  a  heavy  façade  that  it  was  fine  to  be  unloved  ,  it  was  okay  to  continue  a  losing  game  .  a  part  of  him  wonders  ,  was  this  how  zazzy  felt  just  a  little  while  before  ?  when  he  had  came  to  him  ,  seeping  in  pure  heartache  ,  and  was  willing  to  do  anything  to  stay  by  the  other’s  side  a  while  longer  .  how  tragic  ,  if  only  a  monster’s  heart  came  to  see  the  light  at  the  right  time  ,  right  place  .  now  ,  it  was  far  too  late  ,  covered  in  a  crimson  mess  of  his  own  making  .  this  wasn’t  his  first  heart  ,  wasn’t  his  second  nor  third  .  every  ounce  of  pain  he  were  to  feel  he  would  induce  onto  another  .  that’s  what  he  saw  as  fair  ,  and  it  didn’t  matter  to  him  how  monstrous  it  had  truly  made  him  .  the  demon  just  months  prior  would  be  satisfied  in  just  the  mere  sense  of  heartache  he  got  from  another  ,  now  he  wanted  the  rubied  organ  for  himself  .  if  his  heart  were  to  be  crushed  in  front  of  him  ,  there’s  would  be  so  as  well  .  no  ,  no  one  had  done  anything  to  him  ,  and  surely  haven’t  seen  it  coming  .  however  ,  there  was  no  other  revenge  that  satisfied  the  grieving  demon  ,  because  he  surely  wouldn’t  harm  the  one  he  loved  .  

                                    despite  these  feelings  being  new  ,  heartache  seemed  to  latch  itself  onto  him  like  an  old  friend  .  it  was  something  so  distant  ,  yet  so  familiar  that  he  had  no  choice  but  to  welcome  it  and  accept  it  .  it  was  something  that  he  had  wanted  on  others  ,  but  on  him  ,  it  was  a  new  type  of  pain  .  he  deserved  the  pain  ,  though  ,  right  ?  demon  boy  who  knew  nothing  but  hatred  and  spite  ,  always  curious  about  love  .  enamored  at  the  thought  of  ,  ‘  what  if  i  had  been  loved  ?  ’  what  if  monster  child  had  grown  up  cared  for  ,  would  things  be  different  ?  would  he  still  be  where  he  stood  ,  covered  in  a  sticky  mess  ?  letting  air  fill  his  lungs  ,  he  paused  ,  allowing  his  breathing  to  even  out  before  he  could  even  consider  opening  his  mouth  once  more  .  valix  was  taught  to  never  show  any  sign  of  weakness  ,  but  love  came  with  that  price  .  utterly  weak  at  the  sight  of  the  other  ,  deep  senses  of  guilt  and  shame  washed  over  him  .  bitter  translucent  drops  trickled  down  lush  skin  ,  he  knew  he  had  lost  ,  but  why  was  it  so  frustrating  ?  anger  washed  over  him  ,  this  wasn’t  him  .  he  was  the  one  that  should  have  had  the  upper  hand  ,  he  should  have  been  the  one  playing  right  now  .  the  demon  was  aggravated  ,  didn’t  know  that  he  could  get  filled  with  such  rage  at  the  same  time  as  drowning  in  his  own  heartache  .  he  watched  ,  glare  tense  on  his  face  ,  tears  would  come  and  go  but  his  expression  remained  one  filled  with  hatred.  although  ,  he  could  never  hate  the  other  ,  he  hated  the  fact  that  he  was  the  one  broken  now  .  

                                 ‘   valix  love  makes  you  weak  .  love  makes  you  at  the  hands  of  another  ,  not  in  control  .  complete  control  is  power  ,  control  over  others  and  of  yourself  .   ’   

                                     but  why  does  my  heart  want  him  ?

                                                                  because  i  fell  in  love  with  him  .

                                    there’s  a  sort  of  beauty  that  came  along  with  a  monster  falling  for  another  monster  .  it  came  with  a  more  so  agonizing  awakening  when  a  monster  is  rejected  by  another  monster  ,  though  .  demon  boy  crafted  of  loveless  whispers  ,  brought  up  to  be  nothing  more  than  a  disappointment  .  latching  onto  fleeting  hearts  that  were  given  to  him  willingly  ,  crushing  them  before  they  had  the  chance  to  take  it  away  .  everything  had  to  be  taken  away  ,  from  the  moment  he  had  opened  his  eyes  till  now  ,  there  was  never  something  that  was  truly  his  .  he  watched  ,  pitying  himself  as  the  other  looked  unbothered  by  his  presence  all  together  .  if  demon’s  could  fear  ,  this  would  have  been  it  ,  giving  out  the  most  precious  thing  he  had  and  let  it  get  crushed  right  in  front  of  him  .  

                                    a  hand  comes  up  to  wipe  a  stray  droplet  to  slip  passed  a  delicate  lashline  ,  quickly  trying  to  stop  as  much  as  he  could  .  what  was  the  use  ?  he  wasn’t  going  to  stop  ,  he  was  broken  .  kingdom  meant  nothing  to  him  ,  a  hierarchy  that  seemed  to  be  a  joke  in  his  eyes  .  royal  crafted  of  gold  ,  and  demon  born  of  flames  and  sorrow  ,  it  was  bound  to  backfire  and  ruin  him  .  the  game  had  been  rigged  from  the  start  ,  and  neither  had  known  .  “  i  would  assume  such  precious  heir  to  the  thrown  has  better  business  than  to  deal  with  a  monster  doing  monstrous  things  .  there’s  nothing  really  pressing  here  ,  is  there  ?  ”  his  voice  was  beginning  to  steady  ,  irritation  taking  up  his  tone  .  valix  had  wished  the  other  would  have  left  ,  he  didn’t  want  anyone  seeing  him  vulnerable  .  words  bite  deep  into  flesh  ,  gashing  him  from  the  inside  out  ,  as  if  glass  had  replaced  blood  .  touches  feel  like  flames  ,  scorching  his  skin  and  letting  a  broken  heart  beat  just  a  little  faster  .  baby  .  .  .  something  he  had  said  a  long  time  ago  ,  being  thrown  right  back  onto  him  .  was  this  atonement  ?  he’d  let  it  happen  if  it  was  ,  yes  ,  he  deserved  this  .  “  i  wouldn’t  say  love  ,  i  don’t  think  i  could  love  a  monster  like  you  ,  ”  he  grits  out  ,  a  lie  to  keep  him  from  breaking  apart  in  front  of  hell’s  prince  .  “  i  wasn’t  making  it  for  you  ,  i  was  just  having  a  little  fun  .  ”  familiar  hand  on  his  skin  ,  and  he  hates  that  he  wants  it  to  remain  there  .  anger  filling  up  in  his  veins  ,  he  was  not  going  to  let  himself  get  humiliated  like  this  .  being  this  close  to  the  zazzy  already  had  him  dizzy  and  almost  begging  for  him  to  love  him  once  more  ,  he  couldn’t  let  himself  lose  over  and  over  .  with  everything  he  could  muster  ,  he  let  lithe  hands  push  his  first  love  back  .  “  let’s  not  forget  what  an  abomination  you  are  .  if  i’m  worthless  ,  you’re  unwanted  .  a  puppet  for  your  father  ,  nothing  more  or  less  .  ”

                         𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅  𝒈𝒐𝒅  𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒅  𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐  𝒕𝒉𝒆  mangled  mindset  of  everything  belonging  to  him   ,   and  yet  of  his  own  bodily  autonomy  not  even  being  within  his  own  rights   .   flesh  littered  in  deep  violet  bruises  and  torn  open  wounds   ,   scars  embedded  into  his  back  just  between  where  two  priceless   ,   gilded  wings  sit  on  either  side  of  his  spine   ,   unable  of  being  torn  out   ----   and  yet   ,  that  never  stopped  his  devil  of  a  father  from  cutting  into  them  with  blades  searing  with  the  heat  of  hellfire  lit  from  the  epitome  of  blasphemous  sin   .   unbelonging  to  himself   ,   desperate  to  reclaim  anything  as  his  own   ,   child  god  tore  souls  from  the  depths  of  hidden  graves   ,   swallowed  down  spirits  as  if  he  were  to  be  executed  and  this  meal  was  to  be  his  last   ,   swore  never  to  give  himself  over  to  anyone  the  way  his  father  claimed  him  as  his  own   ----   a  tool   ,   a  weapon   ,   a  possession   .   it  was  never  accordance  to  the  plan  of  a  young  prince  to  hand  himself  over  willingly   ,   to  pry  his  ribcage  open  and  expose  the  wilted  garden  of  floral  rarities  to  a  demon  so  far  below  himself   ,   to  allow  said  demon  to  wrap  his  own  name  about  the  prison  bars  of  his  ribcage  and  embed  himself  into  rotting  bones  that  lie  there   .   a  secret  garden  laid  out  for  the  taking   ,   for  unsettlingly  familiar  hands  stained  in  his  own  liquid  crimson  to  pick  the  flowers  from  and  crush  them  beneath  claw - tipped  fingers   ,   against  the  weight  of  scarred  palms   .   it  was  unexpected   ,   even  to  the  boy  crafted  of  untamed  horrors   ,   for  the  feel  of  claws  scratching  his  insides  into  the  remnants  of  a  gory  mess  to  become  something  so  welcome   ,   something  he  would  get  on  his  knees  and  grovel  at  the  feet  of  a  lowly  beast  for   ,   something  he  would  turn  himself  upside  down  and  inside  out  just  to  feel  over  and  over  and  over   ----   beauty  in  rage   ,   he  would  suppose   ,   in  that  same  inane  silence  that  overcame  him  every  time  valix  sunk  venomous  fangs  into  the  heart  of  such  a  divine  abomination   .   he  submitted  himself  to  valix   ,   let  him  lay  his  claim  on  the  mangled  heart  of  a  broken  boy   ----   and  now  he  would  get  the  demon  to  do  the  same   ,   brand  his  own  name  into  the  inside  of  valix’s  throat  and  make  him  cry  for  him  again  and  again  and  again   .   rip  out  his  tongue  and  drip  his  own  faux  love  into  his  mouth  before  clawing  it  back  out  with  needle - pointed  fingertips   ,   let  him  know  his  own  damnation  without  ever  tasting  its  glory   .   let  him  choke  on  the  fingers  that  once  begged  him  to  hold  them   ,   lay  his  own  claim  upon  his  own  broken  demon  boy  and  play  this  very  game  of  sweet  revenge  ,   taunting  him  with  fits  of  faux  love  hanging  over  his  head  as  the  victor  of  this  losing  game  of  theirs   .

                         monster  boy  dares  inject  the  same  pretty  venom  he  was  once  infected  with  into  the  crystalline  veins  of  another  monster  boy   ,   a  poison  coated  in  candy   ,   saccharine  at  first  taste   ,   that  bleeds  into  a  burnt  and  bitter  palate   ;   toxin  that  would  otherwise  go  unnoticed   ,   if  the  after - effects  didn’t  leave  skin  set  aflame  with  the  scorching  heat  of  faux  affection   .   befallen  prince  crowned  in  bloodied  thorns  would  never  deem  himself  capable  of  conquering  the  very  rose - coloured  beast  he  once  had  bloodstained  palms  held  open  for   ,   fingers  grasping  and  ungrasping  and  grasping  again  to  hold  the  very  hands  he  once  thought  might  kill  him  in  a  fit  of  something  akin  to  a  rose  quartz  facade   ,   though  he  supposes  that  this  very  instance   ,   valix  now  the  one  crumbling  at  decayed  seams   ,   translucent  numbness  pulled  back  to  reveal  searing  pain  and  wounds  lain  in  shreds   ,   is  what  conquest  must  feel  like   ,   what  valix  must  have  been  so  familiar  with  so  many  months  ago   .   did  it  have  to  end  this  way   ?   some  distant  and  far  off  semblance  of  his  heart  dares  think   ,   were  the  stars  so  aligned  that  not  even  two  abominations  to  the  heavens  could  possibly  betray  their  fate   ?   if  they  had  both  been  raised  under  a  different  sky   ,   if  the  making  of  two  monsters  had  never  caught  up  to  them   ,   nature  versus  nurture  hadn’t  threatened  to  double - crossed  them   ----   could  they  have  loved  freely   ?   in  the  same  way  the  sun  loved  the  moon   ?   withered  heart  aches  briefly  in  the  silence  of  such  a  forsaken  wish   ,   before  fractured  ringlets  of  gold  settle  upon  the  crystaled  drops  set  pretty  against  the  rosied  skin  of  valix’s  cheeks   ,   and  the  corners  of  bloodied  petals  upturn  without  his  consent   .   who  new  such  a  broken  boy  could  be  so  beautiful   ,   in  such  a  horrifically  sinister  sort  of  way   ?   weak   ,   covered  in  the  life - line  of  some  poor  and  pathetic  victim   ,   and  all  zazzy can  think  is  break  him  further   ,   he’ll  look  so  pretty  on  his  knees  for  your  love  back   .

                         nephilim  child   ,   forbidden  son  of  the  devil   ,   it  would  have  always  ended  this  way   ,   bound  in  steel  chains  to  a  grim  reaper’s  fate   ,   two  monsters  drenched  in  each  other’s  blood  as  they  swallow  down  their  sins   ----    love  was  never  to  become  you   ,   tragedy  meant  to  eat  you  whole   .

                         sorry  about  the  blood  on  your  hands   ,   zazzy’s  soul  whispers  to  valix  in  a  fit  of  solemn  and  unsolicited  silence   ,   i  wish  it  was  mine   .

                         and  yet  being  the  one  in  control  is  an  addiction  in  and  of  itself   ,   dangling  his  love  over  valix’s  head  like  a  treat  meant  to  tame  a  beast   ,   letting  him  have  a  taste  and  then  pulling  it  back  from  his  awaiting  mouth   ,   away   ,   away   ,   away   ,   far  beyond  the  reach  of  a  demon  belonging  at  the  prince’s  feet   .   the  most  fun  he’s  had  in  ages   ,  entertainment  fit  for  a  god   ,   finally  understanding  why  his  once  beloved  found  the  taste  of  bleeding  hearts  to  be  so  addicting   .   valix  fits  the  role  of  the  puppet   ,   the  plaything   ,   with  practised  ease   ,   while  the  child  king  slips  into  that  into  the  puppeteer  as  if  it  were  made  for  him   ----   perhaps  it  should  have  been  this  way  from  the  beginning   ,   zazzy  was  simply  too  blinded  by  the  faux  beauty  of  a  monster  to  realise  it   ,   too  wound  in  the  bindings  of  a  loveless  facade  to  become  self - aware   .   pitiful  thing   ,   he  laughs  to  himself   ,   who  knew  murder  could  look  so  pathetic   ?

                         there’s  an  inane  sort  of  chaos  that  comes  with  a  being  of  hell  falling  into  scarlet - tinted  hellfire   ,   with  flames  licking  at  their  skin  and  crawling  into  their  mouths  and  eating  them  alive  from  the  inside  out   ;   a  dance  across  the  cracked  marbled  floors  of  the  divine   ,   both  of  them  slipping  through  the  fractures  and  falling  into  each  other   ,   into  a  demise  perhaps  neither  of  them  knew  was  waiting  to  swallow  them  whole   .       ❛       ah   ,   but  monsters  doing  monstrous  things  is  the  epitome  of  hell   ,   isn’t  not   ?   am  i  not  a  monster  doing  monstrous  things  just  by  standing  here   ,   observing  you  covered  in  a  gory  mess   ?       ❜       smile  takes  home  upon  bitten  lips   ,   eyes  upturned  into  half - crescent  moons  as  amusement  overcomes  him   ,   entertainment  and  an  undying  need  for  revenge  enveloping  all  reason   .   half - human  child  becomes  a  bit  less  humane   ,   gives  into  the  horrors  of  being  an  exiled  archangel   ,   something  wanted  dead  or  alive  by  the  divine   .   fingers  press  harder  against  valix’s  jaw   ,   the  prince  draws  his  face  closer   ,   lips  mere  inches  from  the  demon’s   ,   air  shared  between  them   .       ❛       bet  you  wish  you  could  make  such  a  mess  out  of  me   ,   hm   ,   baby   ?   you’re  welcome  to  try   ,   my  love   ,   though  somehow   ,   i  fail  to  think  that  you  could  possibly  endure  anymore  embarrassment  than  you’re  facing  now   ,   huh   ?   all  vulnerable  and  teary - eyed  for  me   . . .   surprised  you’re  not  begging  yet   .       ❜       words  feel  genuine  and  feigned  all  the  same  as  they  fall  from  his  lips   ,   and  he  supposes  that  this  might  be  what  it  feels  like  to  sentence  someone  to  eternal  damnation   .   valix  deserves  it   ,   deserves  far  worse   ----   and  yet   ,   some  part  of  him  finds  that  he  needs  to  keep  reminding  himself  of  such  a  thing   .   valix  deserves  it   ,   again  ,   and  again  ,   and  again   .       ❛       because  you  can  say  whatever  you  want  about  being  unable  to  love  a  monster   ,   but  i  think  you’ve  lost  your  touch   ,   valix   . . .   because  i  don’t  believe  you   ,   not  like  i  once  would  have   .   you  fall  for  me  so  bad  that  you  can’t  even  lie  anymore   ?   that’s  what  you  were  always  best  at   .        ❜       inches  closer  to  the  other   ,   lets  a  blood - touched  thumb  drag  across  valix’s  bottom  lip   ,   smearing  pretty  petals  in  scarlet  and  crimson  before  he’s  suddenly  shoved  back   .   gilded  eyes  blink   ,   once   ,   and  again   ,  before  bringing  his  thumb  to  his  own  mouth  and  licking  any  remnants  of  blood  clean  in  absolute  silence   ,   eyes  fixated  only  on  the  monster  boy  before  him  as  words  that  tear  like  knives  from  the  inside  out  are  spit  out  at  him   .

                                           𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉  𝒐𝒇  𝒉𝒊𝒔  𝒐𝒘𝒏  𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 ,  ruthless  to  know  no  remorse  ,  lets  another  life  slip  away  with  one  fatal  movement  of  lithe  fingers  .  sinister  grin  spreads  on  ruby  stained  petals  ,  claws  sink  deep  into  flesh  ,  knowing  exactly  where  the  pretty  crimson  organ  shall  reside  .  oh  ,  yes  ,  he  had  the  veins  and  arteries  surrounding  it  memorized  by  now  .  countless  beatings  of  a  misshapen  mess  ,  somewhat  a  comforting  melody  by  now  .  bliss  washed  over  him  for  a  few  seconds  ,  this  was  what  he  was  chasing  for  ,  the  few  fleeting  seconds  where  demon  could  feel  less  alone  .  not  alone  .  broken  as  his  heart  had  become  ,  jewel  he  had  thought  kept  hidden  behind  a  keyless  cage  ,  had  been  brought  out  unwillingly  .  it  was  funny  how  the  monster  in  charge  of  a  pretty  game  became  the  pitiful  demon  utterly  ruined  by  his  own  plaything  .  the  unspeakable  word  ,  the  word  that  had  haunted  him  throughout  these  past  months  ,  could  he  love  another  ?  no  ,  impossible  ,  no  .  no  one  deserved  to  be  loved  by  him  .  demon  as  he  was  ,  he  was  better  than  the  rest  .  he  had  everyone  at  his  knees  ,  who  could  be  better  than  him  ?  the  prince  of  hell  himself  ?  the  demon  had  relished  in  the  heartache  he  received  from  him  .  heartache  had  consumed  the  other  ,  over  none  other  than  valix  himself  .  how  did  the  situation  turn  so  mournsome  ?  how  did  he  end  up  here  ?  days  were  to  blend  into  each  other  tauntingly  ,  the  demon  knew  he  had  lost  .  showing  all  the  same  symptoms  that  the  ones  he  played  with  had  after  turning  over  their  hearts  ,  it  was  his  turn  to  roll  around  in  pain  .  how  did  the  prince  of  hell  win  his  heart  in  return  for  his  own  ?  how  did  he  stumble  upon  defeat  when  that  wasn’t  even  an  option  ?  it  was  supposed  to  be  fun  ,  empty  words  used  as  excuses  to  see  the  other  again  .  just  a  glimpse  ,  just  to  touch  and  feel  the  skin  of  someone  just  out  of  his  grasp  .  it  went  wrong  ,  it  wasn’t  supposed  to  end  up  the  way  it  had  .  demon  ashamed  of  what  he  had  become  ,  but  in  a  cycle  he  couldn’t  break  .  breaking  hearts  had  been  cruel  ,  but  surely  one  day  they  would  recover  .  evil  as  he  was  ,  evil  as  he  may  have  seemed  ,  no  physical  harm  had  ever  come  to  the  ones  he  played  with  .  not  until  his  own  tongue  got  a  taste  of  his  own  medicine  ,  when  he  had  experienced  what  he  had  been  bringing  upon  others  all  this  time  .  now  ,  anger  and  pure  heartache  were  to  flow  in  fiery  veins  .  

                                           tossing  the  heart  aside  ,  he  sensed  the  other’s  presence  .  what  had  gotten  into  him  ?  why  did  he  want  to  beg  for  the  other  to  love  him  once  more  ?  why  did  he  want  to  ask  to  be  loved  ?  it  was  all  he  had  ever  wanted  ,  but  he  had  realized  that  too  late  .  now  the  other  had  moved  on  ,  while  he  was  treading  in  the  same  waters  ,  itching  to  hold  and  to  love  zazzy  like  his  life  depended  on  it  .  but  the  utter  feeling  of  hurt  couldn’t  leave  his  features  ,  already  tearing  at  the  mere  scent  of  the  nephilim  .  

                                           “  leave  me  be  .  i’m  not  bothering  you  ,  this  is  my  business  ,  stay  out  of  it  ,  ”  tone  was  trembling  at  the  seams  ,  his  voice  trying  it’s  best  not  to  betray  him  ,  but  the  overwhelming  feelings  of  loneliness  were  consuming  him  too  rapidly  to  hide  away  .  “  if  you  don’t  get  out  of  my  sight  ,  you’ll  be  next  ,  your  highness  .  ”  teeth  gritted  and  face  as  straight  as  he  could  make  it  ,  he  surprised  himself  at  how  the  false  threat  sounded  to  be  sincere  .  maybe  it  could  have  been  convincing  if  crystalline  teardrops  weren’t  decorating  delicate  lashes  .  how  it  took  everything  in  him  not  to  drop  to  his  knees  and  let  it  out  ,  he  was  so  close  ,  he  was  going  to  breakdown  right  in  front  of  his  first  love  .  the  one  he  had  fallen  for  after  all  this  time  ,  the  one  who  had  won  so  easily  ,  the  one  who  had  ended  up  being  the  true  owner  of  his  heart  .  he  didn’t  need  a  key  ,  hadn’t  needed  to  force  his  way  in  ,  zazzy  had  done  it  so  naturally  and  delicately  that  valix  hadn’t  even  known  that  his  heart  was  being  stolen  .  if  he  couldn’t  have  his  own  heart  back  ,  he  would  get  revenge  on  everyone  else  .  if  he  couldn’t  have  one  ,  no  one  else  could  .  scarlet  stained  his  palms  and  the  demon  showed  no  guilt  towards  his  actions  .  “  just  go  !  ”  he  yelled  ,  tears  finally  spilling  as  hard  as  he  tried  to  keep  them  at  bay  .    

                         𝒐𝒉   ,   𝒕𝒐  𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆  𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔  𝒐𝒖𝒕   out  of  boys   ,   to  soak  them  in  holy  oil  and  give  them  a  guise  of  faux  serenity  to  bask  in  before  setting  hellfire  aflame  upon  what  was  once  supple  flesh   ,   to  cut  them  open  stitch  by  stitch  and  dig  needle - pointed claws  into  their  insides  until  nothing  but  a  gutsy   ,   gory  mess  is  left  in  a  once  rubied  wake   ,   to  turn  something  once  pure   ,   once  crafted  of  silky  benevolence  and  the  fragments  of  fractured  sunlight  that  have  fallen  through  heaven’s  floors   ,   into  a  beast  not  fit  for  human  eyes   ,   into  something  so  horrific  that  mortal  souls  would  die  in  unspoken  terror  upon  simply  laying  their  sights  on  something  so  terrifyingly  beautiful   . . .   someone  so  beautifully  terrifying   .   he’s  always  been  the  boy  king  of  hell   ,   crown  of  golden  flames  and  thorns  sitting  pretty  atop  his  head   ,   perfect  fit  for  the  boy  beaten  to  fit  the  shape  of  a  disfigured  throne   .   he’s  always  been  embedded  with  an  inherent  cruelness   ,   something  selfish   ,   apathetic   ,   something  that  sounded  a  lot  like  a  fatal  whisper  of   his  own  priceless  importance   ,   the  denouncing  of  everything  else  in  his  wake   .   boy  with  murder  on  the  mind  and  layers  of  blood  staining  his  hands  too  thick  to  truly  be  washed  clean   ,   decayed  flesh  always  coated  in  the  liquid  crimson  of  lives  he  once  took   ,   of  those  who  crossed  him  in  a  moment  just  slightly  amiss  for  their  own  good   .   was  never  afraid  to  take  the  lives  of  those  who  hurt  him   ,   of  those  who  dared  to  even  try   ,   raised  by  a  monster  king  who  used  his  own  son  like  a  puppet  on  gilded  strings   ,   distorted  a  mind  meant  for  the  divine  and  bent  him  to  blasphemous  disfigurement    —   at  his  core   ,   he  supposes  he  was  always  meant  to  be  a  monster   ,   there  had  simply  been  something   —   someone   —    in  the  way   .

                         and  so  the  levee  breaks   .    monster  boy  becomes  something  a  little  more  monster   ,   something  a  little  less  boy   .   the  hold  valix  had  on  him  is  released   ,   thorny  bindings  wound  about  the  monster  boy’s  heart  wither  into  nothingness   ,   and  the  prince  turned  beast  is  free   .   it’s  said  that  a  winding  dance  with  the  devil   —   or   ,   rather   ,   the  devil’s  broken  and  bent  child   —   is  bound  to  end  in  death   ;   a  waltz  descending  down  a  spiral  staircase   ,   at  the  bottom  none  other  than  one  of  their  demise   .   the  long  hand  of  a  curse  clocked  dragging  them  through  the  witching  hour  with  each  tick   ,   tick   ,   tick  of  its  longest  hand   .   the  hellfire  was  always  meant  to  catch  up  to  them  eventually   ,   it  was  only  a  matter  of  time   —   the  boy  king  had  simply  expected  himself  to  be  the  one  to  be  eaten  alive   ,   engulfed  in  a  fit  of  third  degree  burns   . . .   never  had  he  expected  it  to  be  the  monster  within  arms  reach   ,   the  monster  he’d  begged  to  be  in  the  arms  of  mere  months  ago  .   it  started  as  a  game   —   valix  the  gamemaster   ,   zazzy  nothing  but  a  pawn   ,   more  than  willing  to  be  used   ,   distorted  and  mangled  to  the  other’s  heart’s  content   .   never  did  he  think  the  tables  would  turn  in  his  favour   (   was  it  his  favour   ?   had  he  won  such  a  corrupt  and  corroded  game   ?   was  the  plaything  now  the  victor   ?   )   .   child  god  claws  into  his  own  mouth  and  rips  the  taste  of  valix  from  his  tongue   ,   tears  the  call  of  his  name  from  his  throat   ,   leaves  himself  a  mangled  mess  of  the  remnants  of  someone  who  had  lost  a  game  time  and  time  again   ,   but  had  now  won  at  the  cost  of  them  both   .   he  was  the  puppet - master  now   ,   he  supposes   ,   valix  nothing  more  than  a  faulty  marionatte  with  broken  strings   .

                         he  appears  in  a  cloud  of  golden  smoke   ,   with  a  clap  of  thunder  that  echoes  throughout  the  worlds   —   the  tell - tale  signs  of  the  apocalypse  incarnate   ,   warning  signs   ,   some  say   .   he  supposes  that  valix  might  consider  them  to  be  the  same   .   zazzy  wasn’t  sure  what  he  expected  to  find  when  he  sought  out  the  demon  boy   ,   the  one  he  once  loved  but  has  now  grown  an  uneasy  apathy  toward   ,   perhaps  even  regret   ,   repulsion   ,   but  finding  him  in  the  midst  of  a  murder   —   blood  coating  once  feigningly  gentle  hands   ,   remnants  of  a  mangled  heart  at  his  feet   —   wasn’t  the  sight  he’d  expected   .

                         hm   ,   he  thinks  in  an  unsolicited  moment  of  relapse   ,   who  knew  crimson  complimented  him  so  well   .

                         𝒈𝒐𝒅  𝒐𝒇  𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆'𝒔  𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎  𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚   laid  upon  the  boy  outlined  in  crystaled  drops  and  silhouetted  in  fragments  of  a  fatal  rainscreen  in  the  form  of  the  hydro  vision  hanging  as  a  priceless  pendant  at  his  hip   ,   diamond  encrusted  and  encased  in  iridescent  quartz   .   silks  hang  from  a  lithe  frame  with  sharp  eyes  lined  in  glittering  dusts   ,   as  is  expected  of  the  second  heir  to  a  gild - threaded  throne   .   he’s  something  made  of  silver   ,   sterling  only  when  fractured  light  catches  him  right  and  allows  him  to  shine  in  dulled  and  subdued  brilliance   .   able  of  being  lined  in  gold  and  embellished  with  jewels  of  divine  proportions  only  when  it’s  convenient  for  his  brother  wearing  the  faux  crown  atop  his  head   ,   convenient  only  when  his  presence  is  required  in  aiding  a  potentially  corrupt  family  business   .   viewed  as  nothing  more  than  an  ignorant  child   ,   isn’t  allowed  to  witness  the  inner  workings  of  such  obsidian - coated  affairs   ,   doesn’t  really  care  to   ;   would  much  rather  be  handling  other  affairs  at  the  side  of  his  nearest  and  dearest  beloved   .

                         delicate  hands   ,   lapis  lazuli  and  sapphire  rings  adorning  nimble  fingers   ,   uphold  a  velvet - touched  invitation  to  an  event   ,   a  party   ,   something  akin  to  a  gala   ,   inky  calligraphy  facing  his  closest  friend   ,   allowing  him  to  read  the  words  not  meant  for  him   ,   hardly  meant  for  himself  in  fact   .   a  formal  invitation  addressed  to  the  residents  of  ahn  manor  to  attend  this  year’s  skyfrost  gala   .   in  full  truth   ,   the  boy  crafted  of  stray  raindrops  knows  such  an  invitation  is  intended   ,   at  its  core   ,   for  his  father  and  elder  brother   ----   but  it  seems  there’s  no  polite  manner  to  uninvite  the  youngest  son   ,   and  so  invited  he  remains   ,   tragically  so   .   though   ,   not  so  tragic  this  time  around   ,   he  supposes  in  an  unsolicited  sort  of  silence   ,   for  reasons  that  shall  go  unexplained  to  everyone  except  the  frost - touched  boy  at  his  fingertips   .       ❛       would  you  like  to  be  my  plus  one  to  this   ,   my  dearest   ?       ❜       voice  dances  between  them  with  its  usual  light  and  airy  sing - songed  lilt   ,   corners  of  strawberry - tinted  petals  upturning  into  a  half - sort  of  smile   ,   something  a  bit  mischievous   ,   though  prim  and  proper  all  the  same   .   a  hummingbird  fluttering  through  spring  flowers   ,   chaos  and  beauty  all  at  once   .       ❛       unfortunately  for  me   ,   i’m  being  forced  to  attend  for  the  umpteenth  year  in  a  row   .   fortunately  for  you   ,   however   ,   my  beloved   ,   i’m  extending  this  forcible  attendance  to  you  and  bringing  you  along  as  not  only  my  plus  one   ,   but  also  my  date   ,   which  means  my  side  can’t  be  left  the  entirety  of  the  night   ,   of  course   .   it’d  be  embarrassing  if  i  were  seen  on  my  own   ,   hm   ?       ❜       hands   ,   rosy  with  the  slight  chill  of  the  morning  air   ,   extend  to  place  the  letter  in  his  best  friend’s  hold   ,   clearly  not  about  to  take  no  for  an  answer   .

                                        𝒔𝒐𝒇𝒕  𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄  𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒕  𝒐𝒇  a  pretty  crimson  organ  deafened  the  voices  that  swirled  around  a  clouded  mind  .  darkness  tinging  his  thoughts  ,  making  it  easier  to  do  what  he  simply  had  to  do  .  there  was  no  choice  in  the  matter  ,  this  was  a  job  that  had  to  be  done  .  finding  the  joy  in  this  was  impossible  ,  his  own  existence  deemed  distasteful  even  in  his  own  eyes  .  surely  there  could  be  an  end  to  a  cycle  that  had  been  thrown  onto  him  ?  the  cycle  of  getting  a  name  and  being  expected  to  make  sure  the  name  had  no  owner  in  a  blink  of  an  eye  .  an  assassin  of  sorts  ,  never  once  thinking  his  life  would  end  up  in  such  a  way  .  hues  of  scarlet  always  tinting  calloused  palms  ,  and  at  some  point  ,  he  had  grown  used  to  it  .  they  called  him  the  prince  of  death  ,  someone  who  brought  a  grim  end  to  whoever  he  encountered  .  no  ,  he  never  enjoyed  the  title  ,  never  much  liked  the  color  red  in  the  first  place  .  however  ,  once  stepping  into  such  a  trap  ,  it  was  hard  to  be  free  .  cursed  since  birth  to  somehow  manage  on  his  own  ,  guardians  eventually  giving  him  to  the  ones  they  owed  a  debt  to  ,  abandoning  him  yet  again  .  it  was  hard  to  disappoint  the  boy  who  already  had  the  lowest  expectations  of  the  world  surrounding  him  .  one  day  the  ground  would  swallow  him  whole  ,  he  was  sure  of  it  ,  and  he’d  be  grateful  for  that  .  maybe  then  he  could  get  out  of  the  pain  he  had  to  endure  .  

                                        some  days  ,  there  would  be  no  one  he  was  assigned  to  .  that  was  when  the  assassin  would  train  ,  and  it  so  happened  to  be  one  of  those  days  ,  where  he  were  to  brush  up  on  the  skills  he  needed  to  execute  a  job  perfectly  .  not  holding  any  actual  status  in  the  empire  held  by  someone  he  despised  with  every  bone  in  his  body  ,  it  seemed  like  no  one  would  actually  care  if  he  disappeared  .  however  ,  he  knew  that  wasn’t  case  ,  they  made  that  very  clear  after  he  tried  running  from  them  once  …  or  twice  .  they’d  never  let  him  go  ,  that  is  ,  until  he’d  cleared  an  enormous  debt  —  one  that  wasn’t  even  his  own  .  turning  his  attention  from  the  punching  bag  to  the  one  delivering  a  message  to  him  ,  he  couldn’t  hide  a  scowl  .  again  .  it  hadn’t  even  been  twelve  hours  since  he’d  last  taken  someone  out  .  this  one  is  important  ,  highest  bounty  to  his  name  .  surprisingly  ,  the  assassin  is  somewhat  intrigued  ,  he’d  never  dealt  with  someone  like  this  before  .  getting  rid  of  someone  this  important  must  be  what  he  needs  to  win  his  freedom  ,  right  ?  cold  smile  is  placed  onto  devilish  features  ,  he’ll  do  it  (  not  like  he  had  any  choice  in  the  matter  )  .

                                              horrifying  to  think  that  someone  in  plain  sight  was  there  for  a  reason  nothing  less  than  sinister  .  an  expert  in  blending  in  ,  a  wolf  hiding  in  the  middle  of  a  flock  of  sheep  unnoticed  ,  scanning  for  his  prey  .  oh  ,  how  badly  he  wanted  to  get  this  over  with  .  it  would  be  tricky  ,  though  ,  getting  into  the  event  unnoticed  had  been  hard  enough  .  he’d  barely  saved  the  invitation  from  getting  soaked  in  the  scarlet  liquid  of  it’s  actual  receiver  ,  getting  rid  of  any  sign  of  them  in  the  first  place  .  he  knew  they  weren’t  important  ,  simply  looking  up  everyone  attending  beforehand  .  hyunki  had  never  been  someone  leaving  any  detail  unnoticed  ,  knowing  exactly  who  he  was  after  and  their  status  all  too  well  .  it  angered  him  that  people  could  live  like  this  ,  decorated  in  jewels  and  smiles  painted  on  all  but  fake  faces  ,  while  all  he’d  known  was  darkness  and  grief  .  it  worked  in  his  favor  ,  though  ,  they  were  all  too  shallow  minded  to  know  what  didn’t  belong  .  

                                        it  was  a  little  too  easy  sparking  conversation  with  the  socialites  around  him  ,  and  it  almost  had  him  wondering  how  these  people  could  considered  so  high  class  .  all  they  wanted  to  do  was  brag  about  their  accomplishments  ,  as  if  he  cared  about  how  much  revenue  they  made  in  the  past  five  years  .  ironic  ,  though  ,  since  he  had  already  researched  them  ,  and  already  knew  all  the  information  .  deep  brown  hues  did  occasionally  glance  at  his  target  ,  eyes  growing  dark  the  instant  his  eyes  landed  on  them  .  this  was  his  one  ticket  to  freedom  ,  or  something  similar  ,  that  he  needed  more  than  anything  .  lithe  fingers  itch  to  touch  his  hidden  weapon  of  choice  ,  something  so  small  but  so  sharp  ,  all  he  needed  to  do  was  get  the  other  alone  .  however  ,  approaching  him  would  have  to  be  strategic  ,  and  if  it  was  too  obvious  ,  he  didn’t  know  what  to  expect  .  so  ,  for  now  ,  he  would  observe  .  it  was  easy  to  observe  the  one  person  who  stood  out  the  most  ,  someone  so  effortlessly  ethereal  .  but  ,  he  couldn’t  let  that  distract  him  ,  everything  there  was  a  pitiful  facade  of  the  gruesome  truth  behind  it  all  .  no  one  there  could  be  innocent  ,  everyone  had  to  be  a  monster  underneath  the  feigned  laughter  and  expensive  wardrobes  .

                                         ears  perk  to  the  sound  of  a  melodic  voice  ,  turning  his  attention  to  none  other  than  dakota  min  ,  the  one  he  was  here  for  .  the  poor  boy  had  come  straight  to  the  wolf  itself  ,  willingly  conversing  with  the  one  that  will  surely  make  him  meet  his  demise  .  the  assassin  offers  a  soft  smile  ,  he’s  quite  humored  by  the  situation  ,  and  holds  back  a  dark  chuckle  to  elude  his  lips  .  “  i  wouldn’t  say  fun  ,  but  i’m  surely  entertained  .  ”  he  wants  to  dispose  of  him  right  there  and  then  ,  but  he  knows  better  ,  he  wouldn’t  make  it  out  alive  if  he  harms  a  hair  on  the  other’s  head  in  front  of  anyone  else  .  the  ghost  of  a  crimson  hue  tinted  his  palms  ,  and  he  thought  if  someone  looked  hard  enough  they  could  see  it  .  they  could  see  all  the  lives  the  boy  has  taken  ,  all  the  hearts  he’d  stilled  ,  and  the  mountain  of  souls  that  haunt  him  in  his  dreams  .  it  was  all  going  to  end  ,  though  ,  this  prize  was  far  more  valuable  than  the  rest  and  would  win  his  freedom  for  sure  .  “  oh  ,  no  ,  you  weren’t  interrupting  or  being  impolite  .  this  is  my  first  time  to  one  of  these  events  ,  ”  he  scratches  the  back  of  his  head  in  faux  nervousness  ,  “  so  ,  i’m  just  a  little  overwhelmed  ?  kind  of  keeping  to  myself  mostly  .  ”  eagerness  was  an  understatement  ,  this  would  be  far  too  easy  for  him  ,  although  he  had  thought  it  would  be  otherwise  .  “  oh  ,  you  know  the  place  well  ?  i  was  wondering  if  there  was  a  quiet  room  or  something  ,  i  -  it’s  a  little  noisy  in  here  .  ”  lithe  hand  is  offered  for  his  target  to  take  ,  “  i’m  hyunki  ,  by  the  way  ,  i  swear  i’m  not  always  this  nervous  .  this  just  isn’t  my  usual  scene  …  ”

                         𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆  𝒊𝒔  𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒔  ,   𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚  𝒔𝒂𝒚   ,   murmur  to  themselves  as  the  prince  of  pristine  wonders  is  outlined  with  the  glimmer  of  silver  butterfly  wings  and  the  glow  of  fractured  sunlight   .   treasure  meant  to  be  encased  in  nothing  less  than  crystalline  mirrors  and  a  glittering  cage   ,   mind  spared  from  ever  knowing  the  true  horrors  of  a  world  bathed  in  red   ----   boy  forbidden  from  knowing  much  of  the  world  at  all   .   a  hand  reaching  out  of  his  window  to  let  piercing  droplets  of  rain  catch  his  skin   ,   head  poking  out  a  door  he’s  forbidden  to  set  foot  out  of  to  hear  thunder  rumble  over  the  dark  blanket  coating  the  sky   ,   the  closest  interactions  with  the  violence  the  world  has  to  offer  he’s  ever  come  to  know   ,   the  most  daring  actions  he’s  ever  allowed  himself  to  take   .   his  world  is  meant  to  remain  one  painted  white   ,   one  that  will  glimmer  like  pearls  in  the  morning  sun   ,   that  any  and  all  colour  will  roll  off  of  with  the  ease  of  liquid  spilling  against  any  flat  surface   ,   and  yet   ----

                         death  becomes  everything  that  life  dares  to  touch   ,   even  in  a  world  that  impurities  have  been  shut  out  of   ,   a  world  dressed  in  a  rose - coloured  glass   .   even  the  boy  born  unto  blessings  and  diamond - encrusted  embellishments  can’t  escape  the  one  thing  that’ll  stop  at  nothing  to  get  its  hands  around  his  wrists   ,   his  throat   ,   to  sheath  a  knife  into  his  ribcage  until  the  centerpiece  of  the  masterpiece  he’s  become  is  pooling  blood  into  his  lungs  and  letting  it  slip  in  red  velvet  ribbons  from  his  pretty  lips   ,   until  his  lifeline  has  crystallized  into  crimson  agate  and  has  been  sold  as  a  priceless  piece  of  art   ,   of  jewelry   ,   of  everything  he’s  been  taught  he  is  but  will  never  truly  be   .   it  should  come  as  no  surprise  that  the  boy  born  of  treasures  is  to  come  to  face  with  the  grim  reaper  himself  at  some  point  on  his  life   ,   to  shake  hands  with  the  face  of  death   ,   to  dance  with  the  devil  in  a  graveyard  disguised  in  glittering  silks  by  the  halos  of  moonlight  glowing  in  his  eyes   .

                         the  pristine  prince  shakes  hands  with  the  prince  of  death   ,   rose  quartz  touching  blood  stains   ,   pearls  against  ruby   .   it’s  hard  to  see  crimson  stains  on  calloused  hands  when  everything  is  already  tinted  pink   ,   red  flags  simply  look  like  flags   ,   perhaps  a  shade  of  pink  he’s  never  known  before   .   pretty   .   white  and  crimson  the  unnatural  elements  of  such  a  rosied  hue  as  the  boy  is  accustom  to  after  all   ,   could  anyone  blame  him  for  taking  a  liking  to  a  grim  reaper  drenched  in  such  a  shade  so  sinister   ,   when  no  one  ever  taught  him  not  to  look  a  grim  reaper  in  the  eye  at  all   ?

                         (   a  question  he's  asked  himself  only  once  or  twice  before   :   would  the  death  of  the  pristine  prince  find  him  better  than  the  walls  of  his  crystalline  world   ?   would  hell  not  overshadow  purgatory  in  all  of  it's  monochromatic  glory   ?   can  the  grim  reaper  not  be  draped  in  velvet  and  silks  just  as  he  is   ----   something  beautiful   ,   someone  more  than  the  blank  opal  walls  of  what  he  already  knows   ?   )

                         be  social   .   have  fun   .   be  good   .   commands  programmed  into  a  mind  so  easily  distorted   .   eyes  on  him  as  if  he’s  something  from  the  fragmented  works  of  art  that  hang  upon  his  the  walls  of  the  manor   ,   makes  him feel  like  he’s  nothing  more  than  a  show   ,   a  piece  of  entertainment   ,   an  object  placed  in  the  centre  of  the  room  for  the  enjoyment  of  everyone  but  himself   .   he  doesn’t  think  much  of  it  ,   though   ,   smile  of  pictured  perfect  proportions   (   a  smile  that  not  even  himself  realises  is  feigned   )   never  leaving  such  delicate  features  as  he  drifts  through  a  sea  of  silhouettes  lined  with  glitter  and  soot   .   he  makes  conversation  where  it’s  needed   ,   just  as  he  always  does   ,   treating  the  people  before  him  as  if  they’re  creatures  of  divine  proportions   ,   knows  he’d  be  scolded  if  he  treated  them  as  anything  less   .   he  isn’t  sure  what  draws  him  to  one  boy  in  particular  amidst  a  myriad  of  people  are  drowned  in  jewels   .   perhaps  it’s  the  way  he  looks  a  bit  like  he  doesn’t  quite  belong   ,   looks  a  bit  how  dakota  feels   ,   or  perhaps  it  was  simply  because  fhe  beauty  of  such  a  boy  is  bound  to  catch  the  faux  prince’s  eye   ,   his  attention   ,   to  draw  him  to  him  like  a  siren  drawing  ships  to  their  demise   ,   drowning  him  in  his  own  blood  instead  of  the  salty  waters  of  the  sea   .

                         far  more  beautiful  than  he’d  initially  realised   ,   dakota  realises  as  he  looks  death  itself  in  the  eye   ,   taken  aback  by  how  anybody  humane  could  be  so  effortlessly  stunning   ,   of  how  somebody  could  embody  art  itself  the  way  the  stranger  before  him  seems  to   .       ❛       i  suppose  fun  wouldn’t  quite  be  the  right  word  to  describe  this  scene   ,   hm   ?   not  my  idea  of  fun   ,   anyway   ----   don’t  tell  my  father  that   ,   though   .       ❜       a  small  laugh  of  his  own  escape  his  lips   ,   something  soft   ,   quiet   ,   lithe  as  it  flits  through  the  air  and  around  the  hundreds  of  other  voices  floating  around  them  at  once   .       ❛       i  completely  understand  being  overwhelmed   ,   though   .   to  be  honest  with  you   ?   i’ve  been  attending  these  things  since  i  was  a  child  and  i  still  have  no  idea  what  any  of  these  people  are  here  for   ----   or  even  why  i’m  here   ,   for  that  matter   .   if  its  any  consolation   ,   i’d  say  you’re  doing  quite  well  at  fitting  in  for  this  being  your  first  time  at  one  of  these  things   .        ❜      crystaled  boy  from  a  masked  world  of  obsidian  lets  the  porcelain  mask  crack  for  the  first  time  in  his  life   ,   lets  it  break  into  a  fractured  smile  left  upon  bejewelled  strawberry  petals   .   the  ambiance  falls  to  the  wayside  as  he  takes  the  other’s  own  bloodstained  hand  in  his   .   ruby  against  pearls   ,   agate  against  opal   .   crimson  is  quite  difficult  to  get  out  of  white  cloth   ,   after  all   .   just  like  that   ,   after  no  more  than  a  moment’s  hesitation   ,   he’s  succumb  to  that  of  the  siren’s  song   ,   let  himself  be  swallowed  by  the  crashing  waves   ,   slamming  him  against  the  rocky  shore  as  he  bleeds  out  and  is  eaten  alive   .  white  lace  laid  with  careful  precision  over  the  otherwise  rose - coloured  gaze  of  amber  eyes   ,   a  curtain  of  innocence  and  naivety  doing  its  job  to  hide  the  prince  crafted  of  porcelain  from  an  otherwise  dark  world   ---   one  crafted  of  obsidian  and  soot   ,   one  that  a  boy  made  of  rose  quartz  and  opal  was  never  made  to  set  foot  in   .   unaware  of  a  blade  sheathed  mere  feet  from  him   ,   of  the  pretty  boy  -  made  -  killer  at  his  fingertips   ,   of  the  velvet - like  ribbon  of  crimson  intended  to  flow  with  practised  ease  from  himself   .

                        𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔  𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏  𝒉𝒂𝒅  𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏  locked  in  the  mournful  solitude  of  his  own  jaded  mind.  shadows  of  emotion  loomed  over  a  cold  chest,  never  penetrating  the  chambers  of  a  nonexistent  cardium.  it  was  as  if  he'd  thrown  it  out  ages  ago,  however,  the  crimson  organ  remained  there,  beating  and  waiting  to  be  finally  brought  out  from  a  neglected  corner.  who  could  love  a  demon  that  was  abandoned  from  the  start  ?  it  was  simply  impossible,  and  yet,  that  was  the  one  thing  the  monster  had  craved.  did  it  even  make  sense  for  one  to  long  for  something  that  they’d  never  experienced  in  the  first  place  ?  love  was  something  that  he  was  given,  time  and  time  again,  but  it  was  never  for  him.  no  one  truly  loved  him,  he  knew  that,  the  love  was  for  who  they  wanted  to  see.  that  was  the  thing,  no  one  ever  saw  him  for  who  he  was,  perhaps  only  a  few  had  seen  a  glimpse  of  his  true  being.  how  could  he  fall  for  someone  who  didn’t  even  see  him  for  himself  ?  demon’s  own  ability  came  to  bite  him  back  in  the  end,  something  he  had  never  seen  as  a  bad  thing,  now  made  him  feel  small.  who  did  zazzy  see  ?  valix  could  only  be  sure  that  it  wasn’t  himself.  it  didn’t  matter,  either  way  he  wouldn’t  let  himself  ponder  on  it  for  long,  there  was  simply  no  way  a  monster  could  love  another  monster.

                        hearts  weren’t  supposed  to  work  for  monsters,  or  that’s  what  he’d  been  told,  and  he  worked  hard  to  keep  his  own  locked  up  deep  inside  a  dark  and  empty  cage.  there  was  no  key  that  came  with  the  cage  that  held  all  of  his  cursed  emotions,  if  there  was  one,  he’d  never  found  it.  the  demon  had  simply  done  it  all  to  himself,  foolish  as  it  may  seem,  it  made  him  feel  safe.  was  safety  more  important  than  loneliness,  though  ?  being  alone  was  all  the  demon  knew,  no  one  to  lean  on  or  hold  on  to,  just  himself  to  rely  on  at  all  times.  it  was  the  only  thing  that  was  familiar  to  him,  but  it  wasn’t  the  only  thing  he  found  himself  wanting.  how  could  one  enjoy  being  lonely  at  all  times,  pushing  the  ones  that  cared  for  them  farther  and  farther  away  ?  valix  wondered  if  there  would  be  a  time  where  he  stopped  playing  such  a  game,  one  day  he  could  find  true  happiness.  how  could  a  monster  be  happy,  though  ?  did  he  deserve  happiness  ?  no,  he  didn’t,  he  was  made  to  be  miserable  and  spread  misery  to  all  those  he  came  across.  it  was  just  the  way  it  was,  and  who  was  he  to  go  against  it  ?  to  go  against  the  things  that  were  whispered  into  his  thoughts  since  birth.  being  here  with  zazzy  was  simply  another  victim  to  his  game,  nothing  more  or  less,  and  he  would  be  foolish  to  think  twice  about  it.  there  was  no  room  to  grow  attached,  no  chance  of  letting  himself  become  powerless  in  the  presence  of  another.  

                        part  of  him  had  always  longed  to  let  go,  to  allow  himself  to  feel  the  love  that  continuously  dangled  in  front  of  him,  always  close  enough  to  see  but  to  never  be  within  his  grasp.  that  was  the  thing  with  monsters,  there  was  no  rule  for  them  not  to  love,  the  only  ones  stopping  them  to  do  so  were  themselves.  locked  in  the  same  illusion  that  there  was  something  wrong  in  letting  a  heart  flutter,  to  feel  a  slight  spark  of  happiness  from  time  to  time.  when  in  reality,  there  was  not  one  thing  wrong  to  let  oneself  feel  something  for  another,  but  who  were  to  tell  the  demon  boy  all  of  this  ?  the  one  that  was  somehow  utterly  convinced  that  his  own  desires  couldn’t  be  fulfilled,  not  even  in  his  wildest  dreams.  this  was  just  the  way  things  were,  he  was  nothing  more  than  a  demon  to  spread  heartache  onto  others  for  his  own  petty  justifications.  how  was  the  other  so  willing  to  love,  though  ?  was  he  not  a  monster  as  well  ?  zazzy  had  said  it  himself,  he  was  also  a  monster,  but  he  had  done  it.  he  had  loved,  done  something  valix  thought  utterly  impossible.  perhaps  that’s  why  the  demon  had  chosen  him,  because  he  knew  it’d  be  a  challenge.  much  to  his  surprise,  it  wasn’t  as  hard  as  he’d  thought,  making  him  wonder  if  monsters  really  could  feel.  

                        slender  hand’s  grip  remains  the  same  as  words  he  know  aren’t  true  fall  from  the  other’s  lips.  “  oh  ?  as  long  as  i  get  to  be  your  pretty  little  plaything  i’d  find  it  very  much  enjoyable.  ”  the  demon  thinks  it’s  somewhat  endearing  that  the  monster  he  knows  is  still  in  love  tries  to  hurt  him  with  words  that  only  leave  him  more  entertained.  the  act  of  toughness,  the  attempt  at  offense  instead  of  defense,  but  nothing  more  than  just  empty  words  that  fail  to  strike  a  cord.  something  about  being  in  the  prince  of  hell’s  own  bedroom  made  him  excited,  the  power  he  held  over  someone  that  was  supposed  to  make  him  cower  in  fear.  the  one  who  could  easily  snap  his  fingers  and  cause  his  demise,  had  let  him  hold  so  much  over  him.  a  part  of  him  would  feel  bad,  apologetic  even,  sensing  the  heartbreak  that  engulfed  him,  if  he  didn’t  enjoy  it  so  much.  this  was  what  he  had  wanted,  was  it  not  ?  mismatched  gaze  scans  the  other  intensely,  eyebrow  raised  hearing  the  word  winner  once  more.  how  come  hearing  that  he’d  won  was  only  gratifying  for  a  few  moments,  but  the  fleeting  emotion  was  gone  before  he  knew  it.  

                        his  actions  had  always  been  impulsive,  not  a  single  thought  crossed  his  mind  before  pressing  his  lips  alongside  the  other’s  jaw,  peppering  soft  kisses  wherever  they  landed.  was  it  out  of  love  ?  no,  it  was  something  more  sinister,  something  simply  cruel.  valix  knew  of  the  heartbreak  that  the  other  was  going  through,  knew  of  how  utterly  frustrated  the  other  seemed,  but  still  wanted  to  play  with  him.  “  baby,  ”  he  whispered,  complying  to  the  other’s  request.  “  need  to  be  numb,  hm  ?  want  to  play  the  game  ?  ”  the  demon  found  himself  intrigued,  he’d  never  encountered  anyone  wanting  to  join  the  heartache  -  inducing  hobby.  it  was  fun  for  him,  but  had  never  thought  others  would  enjoy  the  same  game.  something  so  evil,  to  leave  someone  unexpecting  in  utter  pain  and  loss  without  an  ounce  of  regret.  “  but  if  we  both  play  the  game,  how  can  we  play  together  ?  ”  demon  feigns  a  pout,  releasing  his  grip  on  the  other’s  neck,  bringing  it  down  to  wrap  around  the  other’s  waist,  “  because  i  just  like  playing  with  you.  ”  a  soft  chuckle  eludes  his  lips,  “  that  would  be  a  hell  of  a  challenge,  but  i’ll  try  my  best.  thing  is,  though,  i  don’t  know  if  i  want  you  to  stop  loving  me  just  yet,  ”  smile  placed  on  cherried  petals  is  meant  to  be  nothing  more  than  taunting,  “  since  heartbreak  never  quite  looked  as  good  as  it  does  on  you.  ”  which  was  true,  he’d  normally  never  think  twice  about  the  victims  to  his  game,  but  he  had  thought  about  zazzy.  it  couldn’t  be  thoughts  of  regret,  perhaps  the  other  was  just  still  appealing  to  toy  around  with  to  the  demon.

                         𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍  𝒘𝒉𝒐'𝒔  𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓  𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏  𝒈𝒐𝒅   ,   ambrosia  dripping  from  his  lips  in  steady  streams  and  his  own  blood  staining  the  inside  of  his  mouth   ,   has  all  things  divine  sitting  just  beyond  the  reach  of  gold - tipped  fingers   .   heaven’s  unlocked  gates  and  a  descending  staircase  to  hell   ,   the  diamond - encrusted  earth  that  sits  just  between  two  extremes  and  the  embellishments  of  space  and  time  that  decorate  all  around  it   ----   a  silver - lined  glory  awaits  him  amidst  his  belongings   ,   and  yet  palms  remain  open   ,   these  gifts  far  out  of  his  reach   .   possessions  crafted  at  the  hands  of  a  god  he  can’t  worship   ,   of  one  he  won’t  know   ,   set  out  for  the  taking  by  the  boy  king   ----   inherit  the  earth   ,   they  whisper   ,   dig  monstrous  claws  into  its  flesh  and  eat  it’s  heart  out   .   half - blood  seraph   ,   however   ,   would  rather  take  a  bite  out  of  the  apple  of  eden   ,   the  fruit  lined  with  gold  and  laced  with  sin   ----   steal  a  kiss  from  the  carnivorous  devil  he’d  let  cut  out  his  tongue   ,   replace  it  with  the  blasphemous  venom  to  let  him  know  his  damnation  without  tasting  its  glory   .   heir  to  hell  knows  the  whispers  of  the  devil  his  love  has  come  to  stalk   ,   knows  the  heartbreak  inflicted  by  him  comes  in  different  aspects  by  different  forms   ----   and  part  of  him  wonders  what  his  own  warped  and  distorted  mind  has  made  valix  out  to  be   ,   imagines  in  secret  what  the  wretch  he’s  given  a  decayed  heart  to  truly  is   .   terrifying   ,   horrid   ,   monstrous   ----   the  epitome  of  sin   ,   only  after  his  own  wretched  self   ,   zazzy  is  certain   .   yet   ,   being  crafted  of  the  divine  already  condemned  to  hell’s  most  fiery  chasm   ,   knows  letting  valix  lick  lies  into  his  mouth  won’t  further  the  sins  he’s  already  wound  in   ,   prince  of  the  seven  most  deadly   ,   incarnation  of  blasphemy  itself   .

                         a  gilded  cage  is  still  a  cage   ,   he’s  reminded   ----   in  the  most  painful  way   ----   time  and  time  again   ,   barely  beating  heart  thrumming  against  the  confines  of  glitter  and  gold  and  piercing  itself  against  the  thorns  wrapped  around  the  organ   .   searing  handprints  pressed  into  the  already  rotting  flesh   ,   the  devil  king’s  bloodied  fingerprints  imprinted  against  the  most  vital  piece  of  his  being   .   i’ll  feed  on  your  emotions  until  there’s  nothing  but  hollowed  emptiness  in  here   ,   monster  called  his  father  bites  too  close  to  his  ear   ,   breath  too  hot  against  his  skin   ,   as  pointed  claws  tap  at  the  golden  prince’s  ribcage   ,   wrap  your  mind  up  in  needled  strings  until  you’re  finally  the  weapon  of  war  you’re  only  good  to  be   .   bites  taken  out  of  his  heart   ,   bits  of  his  soul  swallowed  in  like  oxygen   ,   monstrous  boy  made  out  to  be  exactly  as  he  should   ----   a  monster   ,   a  beast  from  hell  to  leave  his  mark  on  a  pre - apocalyptic  world   ,   the  devil  spawn   ,   the  boy  king  of  blasphemy   .   monstrosities  become  him   ,   swallow  him  whole  and  bind  him  in  thick  ribbons  of  blood   ----    victims  fall  at  his  hand  and  he  eats  their  soul  as  if  it  were  his  last  meal   ,   washes  their  liquid  lifeline  off  his  hands  and  only  shallowly  screams  at  the  crimson  stains  against  already  rosied  flesh   ,   and  yet   ----    stained  hands  remain  unstained  with  the  blood  of  he  who  holds  his  heart   ,   stained  hands  remain  grasping  for  valix’s  own  clenched  fist   .

                         it’s  enigmatic   ,   a  mystery  no  one  would  dare  try  to  solve   ,   why  the  boy  who  could  bring  the  world  to  its  knees  would  let  a  demon  so  far  below  himself  do  the  very  same  to  him   .   boy  called  the  apocalypse  personified    brought  to  compliance  by  nothing  more  than  the  faux  feel  of  love  peppered  against  his  jaw   ,   hell’s  prized  weapon   ,   nothing  more  than  a  boy  fallen  for  a  lie   .   one  knows  all  too  well  the  affects  a  heart  torn  to  disfigured  pieces  by  the  whispers  fed  into  a  child’s  mind   ,   remnants  of  what  should  be  a  working  organ  left  numb   ,   useless   ,   nothing  more  than  a  fleshy  mess  in  the  midst  of  a  pearled  ivory  prison   ,   too  pristine  to  house  something  so  mangled   .   he  knows  his  heart  is  this  way   ,   unbefitting  of  loving  anyone  or  anything  to  a  proper  extent   ----   and  he  thinks   ,   maybe   ,   that  valix’s  is  cursed  to  be  the  same   .   violence  masked  in  affection   ,   corruption  laced  in  compliments   ----   because  how  could  valix  know  something  so  divine   ,   when  he’s  the  epitome  of  betrayal   ,   yet  unsolicited  desire  incarnate   ?   the  third  of  the  seven  deadly  sins   ----   lust   ,   that’s  what  valix  is   ,   what  he  plays  on  and  what  he  preys  on   ----   with  a  mangled  heart  incapable  of  capturing   ,   valix  knows  this   ,   managed  to  capture  the  matching  heart  of  the  prince  meant  to  abuse  him   .   a  matching  set  of  monsters   ,   a  pair  of  broken  game - pieces  on  a  board  bound  to  dance  them  to  a  fate  far  worse  than  death   ----   a  tragedy  so  irrevocable  the  entire  world  may  suffer  from  it   ,   hear  the  cries  of  the  demon  prince  and  feel  the  world  tremble  beneath  their  feet   .   coated  in  the  blood  that  falls  in  crystallized  droplets  from  the  sky   ,   the  blood  of  the  prince   ,   some  might  say   ,   or  the  blood  of  valix   ,   of  he  who  broke  the  young  god’s  heart  for  the  final  time   .

                         “       you  know   ,   i’ve  never  been  one  to  play  all  too  nice  with  my  toys   ,       “       words  fall  from  his  lips  in  a  half - whisper   ,   head  tilting  only  slightly  to  the  side  as  he  peers  at  the  other  from  beneath  the  flutter  of  long  lashes   .       “       never  had  too  many  friends  on  the  playground   ,   kids  used  to  say  i  was  a  big  too   ----   mm   ,   selfish   ?   a  bit  too  violent  for  anyone’s  own  good   .       “       toys  ended  up  in  pieces   ,   companions  lingering  as  just  the  same   ----   because  what  need  did  the  boy  made  of  gold  have  for  life - lasting  possessions   ?   when  he  could  just  snap  delicate  fingers  and  destroy   ,   breathe  a  wish  into  the  world  and  recreate   .   and  yet   ,   he  knows  valix  won’t  end  up  in  the  very  pieces  he  murmurs  threats  of   ,   knows  that  if  anyone’s  fate  is  one  of  mangled  torments   ,   its  his  own   .   why  else  would  the  prince  of  death  bring  such  a  demon  to  his  chambers   ,   to  the  very  place  that  belongs  solely  to  himself   ?   if  not  to  all  but  give  himself  up  for  the  taking   ,   for  the  ruining   ?   glittering  gold  eyes  meet  valix’s  own  odd  ones   ,   brows  turn  downwards  into  a  slight  frown   ,   thinking  he’s  sensed  something  other  than  a  monster  in  his  gaze   ,   but  deciding  that  it  was  far  too  fleeting  a  thought  to  be  considered  liable   .

                         𝒕𝒘𝒊𝒏  𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒃𝒐𝒏𝒔  𝒐𝒇  𝒍𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒅  𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒔𝒐𝒏   drip  in  shared  patterns  from  the  mangled  mess  of  torn  flesh  and  rotting  gore  that  sits   ,   nice  and  pretty   ,   scattered  across  the  line  of  his  lips   .   someone’s  lifeline  smeared  across  the  supple  surface  of  honeyed  skin   ,   bits  of  broken  veins   ,   shallowly  shredded  by  the  carnivorous  point  of  two  tiny  fangs   ,   lingers  in  the  bloodied  remnants  of  his  attempted  meal  caked  to  his  chin   .   he’d  tried   ----   to  eat   ,   to  feed  by  himself   ,   to  survive  on  his  own   .   he’d  tried   .   is  he  to  blame  for  the  fact  that  it  hadn’t  worked   ?   can  he  be  to  blame  when  fangs   ,   meant  to  be  his  perfect  weapon   ,   serve  to  do  nothing  more  than  pierce  into  his  own  bottom  lip  in  moments  not  of  his  own  volition   ?   when  the  only  blood  they  ever  care  to  shed  is  that  from  beneath  his  own  undead  flesh   ?

                         a  man  left  dead  and  for  what   ----   for  the  infamous  little  baby  fangs  to  come  from  within  the  depths  of  a  too  shallow   ,   too  brightly  lit  alley   ,   tears  streaming  through  the  rosied  strawberry  fields  of  his  cheeks  and  a  gory  mess  against  typically  cherried  petals   .

                         loud  sobs  and  footsteps  pattering  gently  against  fractured  concrete  as  the  monster  boy   ,   teetering  on  the  edge  of  a  petulant  fit   ,   dares  to  throw  himself  into  the  middle  of  a  silver - lined  street   .   the  scent  of  blood   ,   mostly  unexposed  but  still  so  prominent  under  heightened  senses   ,   fills  his  lungs  and  clouds  his  mind   ,   and  he  near  loses  his  balance  as  he  pushes  roughly  passed  the  few  strays  still  lingering  at  the  sides  of  the  road   .

                         oh   ,   past  prodigal  child   ,   where  did  you  go   ?   was  the  life  of  the  undead  so  addicting   ?   the  scent  of  streams  of  crimson  so  alluring  that  you  threw  yourself  away   ?

                         feet  trip  over  themselves   ,   or  perhaps  another  pair  entirely   ,   and  a  lithe  frame  comes  crashing  to  the  ground   .   if  vampires  could  bruise   ,   he’d  be  covered  in  lilac  blossoms   .   a  sharp  sort  of  cry  and  fingers  painted  red  reach  out  to  grasp  at  the  first  pant  leg  within  reach   ,   bunching  fabric  in  his  hand   ,   dirtying  the  pristine  clothing   .       ❛       h - help  sukkie   ?       ❜       less  of  a  question   ,   more  of  a  desperate  sort  of  plea   .       ❛       he   . . .   some   ---   something  went  wrong   .       ❜       voice  is  louder  than  it  should  be  for  a  boy  stained  with  blood   .       ❛       tried   !   sukkie  tried   ,   but  it  didn’t  work   ,   and  now   ---   n - now  he’s  still   . . .   the  guy  is  still   . . .   there   .   i  don’t   ----   sukkie  doesn’t  know  if  he’s  dead  or  jus’   . . .   j - jus’  hurt   . . .   don’t  know  what  to  do   ----   please  help  him   !       ❜
