Representative Bruce Braley from Iowa apparently failed his history classes... or else he thinks the Soviets' mistake was to make 5-year plans instead of 2-year plans...

When our national debt looks like that...

... I just can't bring myself to feel any pity for the poor Secretary of Transportation who hasn't been able to hold his contest to give out "free" money - taken straight from my (future) pockets...

I don't know which disturbs me more - that they have to get permission to use calculators on the Senate floor or that they use *calculators* rather than proper computers to decide the federal budget... 

When I first read this bill, I thought about the end of federalism and how dumb it is that New Mexico has to ask Congress to change the boundaries of a forest (alright, it's a *National* forest, but there's still land ownership issues at stake...).  And then I looked again....

New Mexico wants the new borders of the park (which were also potentially adjusted in 2010???) to be RETROACTIVE to 1965!!!  

Why?

Hope you can figure out which agency you need to contact and under which law before your animals die!

For all you non-farmers out there... turf battle.  Get it?  turf!

In order to figure out where $147.4 billion dollars went, Congress decided to spend 2.5 million on a Commission to figure it out. 

Found this exciting case of bipartisanship this morning...

A small handful of Congresspersons have shockingly discovered something Canada and Mexico each have that we don't - museums about their peoples.  The horror!  

Somebody needs to tell these guys about... the SMITHSONIAN!  Not only do we have a museum devoted to American history (which they seem to be worried about), but we have ones that discuss our nation's natural resources (Museum of Natural History), our nation's involvement in flight and space exploration (Air and Space Museum), pictures of famous Americans (National Portrait Gallery), and, ya know, thirty or so additional museums in Washington D.C.  Thank goodness the two parties will work together on this one!
