Ambassador to the Polar Bears
They'll just constantly be drinking coca cola floating on icebergs.Ā
Hopefully they don't help determine who is naughty or nice.Ā
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act...
First, they spent time to do a report and research the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
and then they spent time to design several denominations of coins.Ā
Not saying I wouldn't love deciding between Brett Favre or Sacagawea Ā to put in a vending machine.Ā
Who wouldn't want to cosponsor a bill called "Achieving a Better Life Experience Act"
With a title like that who needs content?
Why we need the "Read the Bill" Bill.
Please refer to section 254(a)(13)(B)(iv) of the How to Read a Bill Act, as amended by section 3019(d)(10) of the How To Make Law Unreadable Act of 1972 in order to understand what this means.Ā

Comrade Braley Saves America
Representative Bruce Braley from Iowa apparently failed his history classes... or else he thinks the Soviets' mistake was to make 5-year plans instead of 2-year plans...
H.R. 1127 - 113th Congress

Don't Let Congress Name Stuff... Ever.
Oh, Congress. Ā Eventually you will learn that we really do care more about the content than the stupid names. Ā Did you let your intern choose this one?Ā
Pity the Fool...
When our national debt looks like that...
... I just can't bring myself to feel any pity for the poor Secretary of Transportation who hasn't been able to hold his contest to give out "free" money - taken straight from my (future) pockets...

The Scariest Kind of Bill.
Is one that references very important securities regulations and does not include any clue of the actual intent in the bill besides the title and subtitles. Constant reference to subsections and clauses of other bills is a sure way to make sure no one knows what is actually going on with the bill.Ā

CALCULATORS ON THE FLOOR!!
I don't know which disturbs me more - that they have to get permission to use calculators on the Senate floor or that they use *calculators* rather than proper computers to decide the federal budget...Ā
Also, it would have been super awesome if someone had objected...
A Time Traveling National Park
When I first read this bill, I thought about the end of federalism and how dumb it is that New Mexico has to ask Congress to change the boundaries of a forest (alright, it's a *National* forest, but there's still land ownership issues at stake...). Ā And then I looked again....
New Mexico wants the new borders of the park (which were also potentially adjusted in 2010???) to be RETROACTIVE to 1965!!! Ā
Why?
I don't know, but there's money changing hands somewhere...
A Serious Turf Battle
Hope you can figure out which agency you need to contact and under which law before your animals die!
For all you non-farmers out there... turf battle. Ā Get it? Ā turf!

Congress left their book report in a bill
It must be nice to have Congress do a book report on your biography and have it put in legislation.Ā
Spend $2.5 million to figure out how they spent $147 billion
In order to figure out where $147.4 billion dollars went, Congress decided to spend 2.5 million on a Commission to figure it out.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Once they find out that information, they plan on taking royalties from private institutions. Hopefully it is used to fund what it says it is supposed to, but I see it as them taking royalties for GPS, the internet, and anything they can claim that the government has a hand in.Ā

Crucial Case of Bipartisanship...
Found this exciting case of bipartisanship this morning...
A small handful of Congresspersons have shockingly discovered something Canada and Mexico each have that we don't - museums about their peoples. Ā The horror! Ā
Somebody needs to tell these guys about... the SMITHSONIAN! Ā Not only do we have a museum devoted to American history (which they seem to be worried about), but we have ones that discuss our nation's natural resources (Museum of Natural History), our nation's involvement in flight and space exploration (Air and Space Museum), pictures of famous Americans (National Portrait Gallery), and, ya know, thirty or so additional museums in Washington D.C. Ā Thank goodness the two parties will work together on this one!
