"A Minoan rock-crystal bowl in the form of a duck, 16th century BCE. The vessel was found at Mycenae but has been attributed to the earlier Minoan civilization based on Crete. The vessel was probably used to store cosmetic creams. (National Archaeological Museum, Athens)."
Not glass... I know!
One of my mountain landscape d20s, in a “stained glass” style.
I love how the light shines through this one!
Numbers still to be painted - they’ll be white, so a lot more readable than it is currently!
Stained glass windows in the administrative building of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was one of the largest in the Soviet Union and the poster child of the Soviet nuclear power industry. As such, little expense was spared on details like these windows.
The Soviet Union often used motifs in abstract art to promote Communism and laude their successes.
Since there’s a lot of interest about these windows, I figured I’d share more information about them
These windows are installed in a stairwell of the ABK-1 Main Administration Building (for those who have watched the HBO miniseries, that’s the building where the plant bunker is located) of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Below: the ABK-1 building at CHNPP. The plant and its reactors are out of frame to the left.
Below: A photo of the layout of the windows.

These windows are installed near the Director General’s office. I have seen a few sources saying that they were completed on April 23rd, 1986, three days before the accident in the Fourth Reactor Block. I cant verify that for sure, but it is certainly a tragic (if maybe false) story.
The windows are in the Socialist Realism style, and they all have typically Soviet names such as “The Triumph of Industry!” And “The Glory of Labor!” Etc. I’ll look to see if I can find a list of all the names because that would be cool, but I don’t know if that’s available anywhere. I’ll update the post if I can find them.
Oh, and it seems I missed one window on my original post, so here it is!

The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology holds a significant collection of medieval and Victorian stained glass windows that are in desperate need of conservation. The Museum, based just north of Brisbane, is one of Australia’s premier collectors of international fine arts and antiquities that is open to the public. The Museum is a registered charity but receives no operational funding from any level of government. The window contains two panels - the upper an intriguing roundel from Germany of a lady and a shield with the name CECYLIA. The lower panel has a shield with ermine attributed to have originally come from Lincoln’s Inn, London. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of saving a medieval work of art that is unique in Australia. A conservation assessment and report conducted in 2006 noted that this particular stained glass window should be conserved within 5 years. Due to lack of funds this has not occurred. It has become a priority to raise the necessary funds needed to conserve this 16th century window.
I’m a massive fan of the Abbey Museum and I know I have a lot of followers that love history and love art and I mean, come on, everyone loves stained glass windows…
Cut, grind, grind, grind, grind, and polish. That’s pretty much how I make glass and stone sculptures.
