New #PLLTheory about a month after the final. Byron Montgomery killed a woman, moved to Rosewood, changed his name then met his now-wife Ella. They have two kids and, suddenly, when their eldest, Aria, is a teenager he snaps and becomes A. This I base off of the fact that Chad Lowe showed up in the episode of #SVU that I'm watching. Ugh I have a problem.
As a chick married to an ex-cop, I say this all the time to people close to me, but it bears repeating here: No cop is your friend after youâve been detained.
Get rear ended by a drunk at a red light? That cop will direct traffic around your vehicle, document the accident, sure. Call animal control on your piece of shit neighbor? Youâve got a pretty good chance the officer who shows up helps out in a meaningful way.
But after youâve been arrested, when a police officer says, âJust be honest with me and Iâll do the same.â or the old âHelp me and Iâll help you.â Politely ask for a lawyer. Shake your head. Ignore them. Pretend youâre Hollywood royalty being asked for a selfie. â âŚmmmm⌠Sorry, but no.â
Keep your mouth shut. Donât do their work for them. Wait for a lawyer.
I worked as a police dispatcher for a year and a half, and Iâd agree with this. My cops were generally nice people (and I say this having been on the wrong end of their sirens twice, once before and once after being hired), and they often helped in good ways⌠on the street. Not so much in the station. Generally speaking (and I know this is oversimplification and is worse in a lot of places but), it went like this:
On the street, you were considered as a person/citizen they have sworn to protect who may have made a mistake or done something wrong.
Once you were in the station, you were considered as a criminal. In the station you are the only one on your side.
Stay safe.
TV and film has you thinking that only guilty people ask for a lawyer. This is not true. The law is complex and difficult and confusing and if youâre being questioned by the police youâre not going to be in your best state of mind. A lawyer is your basic civil right and you should exercise that right. Keep silent, ask for a lawyer, take your legal advice.
Guilty people donât ask for a lawyer, smart people do.
âGuilty people donât ask for a lawyer, smart people do.â
My uncle was a cop. My uncle is the most down to earth, wouldnât hurt a fly person in the world. I donât think he even arrested a single person ever, that wasnât his job on the force. His advice? Get a fucking lawyer. Never say a damn word. A cop knows how to twist your words around and make you even doubt yourself. They know damn well how to make you feel guilty by getting a lawyer. YOU need to know that itâs SMART to get a lawyer. Get a lawyer.
People can be convinced that they committed a non-existant crime in three hours.
Donât say shit. Get a lawyer.
I really annoys me when people imply getting a lawyer means youâre guilty.Â
Watch this video if you havenât. A law professor and a police officer explain to you how the system really works and why you shouldnât talk to the police without a lawyer.Â

Does anyone else wonder what the pitch meeting is like at Pixar? Because, honestly, I'm beginning to think that it's just one guy saying things like "what if toys could talk?" And "what if monsters were real?" And "what if cars were real and had groupies?"
Itâs been a long day without you, my friend And Iâll tell you all about it when I see you again Weâve come a long way from where we began Oh, Iâll tell you all about it when I see you again

President Donald Trump may be aggravating Germany, France and other U.S. allies in Europe with his tirades and qualms about trade imbalances, NATO spending and the Paris climate change deal.
But the White House is casting Trumpâs approach as one designed to strengthen the U.S.-European relationship â not kill it.
After all, Trump aides insist, real friends tell each other hard truths.
Trump âviews not just Germany but the rest of Europe as an important American ally,â White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday, adding that the Republican presidentâs demands during his first official visit to Europe last week that other NATO countries spend more on defense were âgetting results.â
âThat is a good thing for them, itâs a good thing for NATO, and itâs a good thing for America,â Spicer said.

so like Iâve seen quite a few anti-millennial sentiments published in major newspapers but this has to be the strangest one
ok but like, the reason death and dying has become hidden is because of the FUCKING VICTORIANS
JESus
The Victorians were afraid of death so they hired people to take care of all that stuff, and make the body look like it was sleeping and they used metaphors like âpassed onâ and ârestingâ because it made them uncomfortable.
Besides, isnât it good that people havenât seen death??? Listen, I am emotional about this and much of what is wrong with the world is because of the Victorians. Donât blame the millennials for this one m8
do you know anything about actual Victorian mortuary practices?
first of all, if you want to complain about people making bodies look asleep, youâll have to go all the way back to ancient Egypt and boy are you not going to like the lengths THEY went to to keep the body looking as alive as possible. they even hired people to do it! and yet thatâs different somehow?
yeah, embalming caught on among elite Americans in the mid-19th century because Lincoln was embalmed for his funerary tour. but for 99% of people, cleaning and dressing and preparing a body for burial remained part of the grieving process. the last thing you could do for a loved one; the last chance to touch them and see them before they disappeared forever. mortuaries did rise as houses became too small in urban areas to accomodate full wakes, but you cannot possibly believe that people who took post-mortem photographs and wore entire necklaces made from their late loved onesâ hair were trying to deny death
ye gods. either they were creepy and morbid for trying to hold onto memories in tangible ways or theyâre responsible for the entire damn modern funeral industry because they preferred terminology that implied their loved ones were still alive somewhere. but I guess consistency matters less than establishing how superior we are to those nasty people in the Bad Old Days
blame the Victorians for something they actually did, like watering down folklore or making up iron maidens or peddling arsenic skin treatments or perpetuating colonialism
Millennials: *treats self to a nice lunch*
Baby boomers: If you would stop wasting so much money on non-necessities then you'd be able to buy your own house!
Millennials: *doesn't spend money on non-necessities*
Baby boomers: WHY AREN'T MILLENNIALS BUYING FABRIC SOFTENER? OR DIAMONDS? THEY'RE KILLING THE PAPER NAPKIN INDUSTRY! MILLENNIALS ARE SO CHEAP!
âi donât support feminism because i donât hate menâ
Saying that you don't support feminism because you don't hate men is like saying you don't support Black Civil Rights because you don't hate white people.
Yet another reason why grammar matters
