My heart is stirred by a noble theme

Hey guys, I’m searching for a good art software. I have been using Gimp ever since I started drawing digitally, cause it’s free and a good way to begin, I think. But now it has really become a hindrance for my art. I don’t know if it’s the program or my slow computer, but it doesn’t let me draw a straight line without messing it up. It never ran smoothly, but now it’s really bothering me, because everything takes four times as long to draw.

Wooh. Finished. Ok, so for those who are interested in my OCs and know a bit about the story: This is a scene from the beginning of the narrative. Tilien’s mother was just murdered, but told Tilien before she died to follow Clay and Rufus. Tilien now wanders through the woods for a week, trying to find the two strangers. With her last strength she finally spots them. But Rufus, as a rebel trainer isn’t sure, if he should take her with them - if she would be strong enough and make it through the winter. So this scene shows him and Clay deciding over Tilien’s fate.

We all finally got what we wanted with the ‘reply’ function being added back into Tumblr’s interface. Yay!

But…

Without the reply function, I noticed something really cool. Friends were reblogging each other’s stuff waaay more often, simply because that was the only way to add a comment. Granted, this was something done in the absence of the reply button, so it was necessity, but I think it was actually a really good thing for the artist community here on tumblr, because I know a lot of artists (including myself with my little dinky blog) got a lot more views due to reblogs.

In a way, I’m a little sad to see the reply feature return, because it means people will stop reblogging each other’s work so much, and stop supporting each other as much. Not that I don’t love the reply feature–it’s like someone walking by your room, seeing what you’re working on at the moment, and yelling ‘HEY THAT’S COOL!’ as they go by. Short, sweet, yadda yadda. But a reblog allows you to do that, AND it allows other people to see that piece you liked. Sometimes, that’s the only way blogs can be seen is through reblogs.

(I am going to try and use replies as often as I do reblogs, probably in conjunction with one another, because I wanna keep supporting my awesome artist friends :)  )
