“Just feel sorry for the idiots who are going to have to listen to them now.”

“That would be unfortunate for them,” Giselle said with a light shrug. “How’s your day going otherwise?”

“I think they were too busy complaining that I broke their nose to do anything else.”

“At least it gave them something real to complain about.”

She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and looked up at the girl before glancing down at their feet. “Oh shit. Sorry about that. But I wasn’t talking to you when I mentioned being gay. I was talking to that guy.” She gestured to the guy next to them and shrugged. “Not sure why I’d try to shut you down by saying I’m gay.” She muttered, moving her foot away from the girl and crossed her arms over her chest awkwardly.

Giselle glanced at the gentleman in question the young brunette was referring to and just shrugged. She hadn’t been listening completely considering she was just trying to wedge her foot out from underneath the girl. “I didn’t know you were shutting anyone down, but congrats? I’m sure they have balloons for that in this day of age.”

“Oh, that’s really sweet.” Rayne said, looking down with an awkward giggle and glancing down at the ground as she rubbed the back of her neck. “But uh…I’m gay.” She cleared her throat and then nodded her head. “Yes, uh…I’m sure.”

Giselle gave the girl a funny look, confused by why the girl thought she was hitting on her. “Please, not interested,” she said with an eye roll. “I was trying to say your standing on my foot, I know the cafe is crowded but personal space is still important.”

“…in all fairness, I did tell them that if they didn’t quit I was going to punch them.”

“Did they finally quit after that.”

Danielle smirked over at her friend, dragging her immediately over to the keg. “If it’s lame after a while we can leave.” She promised as she helped herself. Once her plastic cup was filled, she stepped aside to let Giselle get some.

Giselle made a silent vow to make sure he honored that promise, she was a teen that hated teens. Typical, but true. Giselle was more foused on her studies rather than being liked, being a surgeon isn’t going to be an easy path. When Danielle handed Giselle the cup, she almost hesitated to take it- she wasn’t interested in drinking but she didn’t wanna be a downer for Danielle. “Fine,” she said clinking her cup with Danielle’s.

“Most people our age still have trouble telling the difference between their, there, and they’re.”

“Not many adults know that either,” she said leaning forward on the table. “But I’m guessing you knew that too.”

Parties weren’t normally Danielle’s thing. They tended to be completely underwhelming, and more just drunken guys making fools of themselves. But she had been bored that night and dragged Giselle out for some fun. Arm looped in one of Giselle’s, she turned to her friend. “Alright. Let’s go fuck shit up.”

Giselle hated parties, a bunch of drunken idiots doing stupid shit. It was so high school and not even like the teen dramas version of it. The morning after always included some idiot being knocked up a few months later. Danielle wanted an escape though and Giselle could handle these with a friend. “Only reason to ever come one of these.”

“I was just saying that’s a good book.” Jasmine repeated. She vaguely recognized the girl from school, and was glad she had mastered a good pokerface over the years—the girl was stunning and liked to read, two of Jasmine’s weaknesses.

“Not many people our age appreciate White Oleander,” Giselle said folding the page she was on and focusing on the girl in front of her.
