It’s been 7 years since the ghastly rape Nirbhaya rape occured in India. Since then, a mother and her family is fighting the case to seek justice for their girl.

Today justice has been prevailed. Tomorrow the accussed will be hanged in the morning. But the journey to this justice has not been easy to say the least.

The fight started 7 years ago. 2012 December. Trials and proceeding went on for years and years. Everyday the judge would hear a few words and then give new dates for the trials. With the police’s inaction and proper investigation the delay in justice was further ehanced. The prosecutor and the defendants questioning the accussed and the defendants finding loopholes in the law,which would further delay the trials.

The government had promised fast track courts for early dismissal of such cases,but i cannot see anythig like that till this date. Thousands of rupees have been allotted for the construction of such courts,then why has the justice been delayed?

Total 6 accussed where guilty of committing the crime. Out of which one committed suicide and the other was juvenile. Today,the remaining 4 await their sentence which is going to be held tomorrow. But the tricks that has been played up till now is just a mockery of our justice system.

While they were facing the trials,they accepted they were guilty. But now,as they see their death sentence is coming close they are using all the forces which they can. Which is indirectly making mockey of the system. Yes,they are humans and have their human rights and can use them,but appealing again and again and just delaying the sentence means mockery of the law.

While all four have exhausted their review petition and also their plea deals. The pardoning by the president is also been rejected by the President which is the highest authority. Now it seems they have approached the INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE.

How? Like how,how can they do that? While committing the crime,they didn’t think of the repercussions but they want pardoning? Didn’t they think once about raping and murdering that innocent women? The anger that is boiling in me seeing the incompetence of the law is to another level rn.

One accused has suddenly claimed he was not there in Delhi or at the crime scene when it happened. Wow. But the previous statements say otherwise. This is a total mockery of the law and just wasting their time.

This should have been a done deal but no it has been stretched far too long now. Everyday,opening the newspaper and looking at the articles of rape and murdering people. If there is no sense of law and order,these ghastly crimes are not gonna stop.

But,tomorrow i know I will have tears of joy in my eyes as I see them get punished for their mistakes. I have yearned for this day to come and when justice has prevailed I’m not letting it go.

Justice is delayed but not denied.

Maybe,this will be a learning lesson for future crimes and the law become strict and stringent.

Bundled up in our homes, eyes fixated on our television screens,not knowing what us going to happen next. When this nightmare will get over and everything will restore to normalcy.

Stepping out of the house,looking at the deserted roads and closed shops and restaurants that was once visited by me and my friends. How situations have changed so drastically, it is taking some time for me to sink this thoughts in.

In India,the situation has gone from 3 cases in January to 111 cases in March which is drastic considering all the level of medical attention. The country which has a population of 1.5bn is under semi-lockdown with only essential travel and work.

But the job done by our government has been top class in containing the pandemic. Total respect to all the soldiers in Army,Navy and Air force and Medical doctors and nurses in the forces to deal with the situation. They have been trained to deal in such situations which normal doctors couldn’t do and looking at the efforts put in by them gives me goosebumps. Not thinking about anyone, selflessly helping the citizens of this country.

The government has till now rescued 340 people from Italy,Iran and Japan and brought them back safely to India.

Looking at the situation it gives me hope,it gives me light seeing that we can rise above hate and come together in this crisis and help without thinking about caste,religion for that matter.

What worries me the most is the economic crisis and recession. Will the world ever get out of this recession? How long will it take for that to happen? The economy had been hit before coronavirus in India now it has been hit even more worst after being declared pandemic by the World Health Organization.

Stock markets crashing, oil price and petrol price on the rise,unemployment,jobs have been shut down,offices closed,all industries badly hit. This scenario doesn’t look great right now. It’s a bleaky situation rn.

But in Italy,the scenario seems much worse. The whole country is in a lockdown which is worse and what is worse is the increasing death rate. With 20,000 cases so far,1000 deaths have been reported which have also doubled in the last 24 hours. This is worst than Wuhan,China where the pandemic first hit. The contamination work has been less.

But the efforts put in by the doctors and nurses have been unbelievable. Working day in- day out has been phenomenal.

For a moment,I thought this might be the world ending. Coronavirus pandemic,strikes all over the world,riots in India, Hongkong and elsewhere also,economic crisis and climate change situation. The scenario doesn’t give me any hope but i’m still waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Tell me, is being alive better or being dead better?

Why can’t just people be good and forgiving to people when they are alive rather than asking for forgiveness when they die? You punish that person all that you want when they are alive but when they die you cry and say sorry.

I don’t understand this human mind and complexity of human being. While being alive,you can be forgiving to that person and loving that person. You can understand them and their situation.

Why can’t human beings understand certain things? Why can’t people accept that there can be changes in a human? Why can’t they sometimes just accept their mistake? Why can’t they have the strength to listen to somebody else?

When you are alive,nobody cares how your mental and physical health is. After you die,(ooohhh) they create a hulabaloo about it and say ‘wish i could have been with them when they needed’ yes dude,we need people to help us when we are alive and not to worry about our mental health when we die! It’s common sense.

It’s okay to not have your life figured out. It’s okay to worry about future. It’s okay to be just where you are. But no,there goes the whole drama.

I come from a place,where no one can see my stress,anxiety issue or sadness for that matter. All they can see is,she is sitting at home,no job,no college,no future. Just whiling time away doing nothing.

This sentence,”doing nothing” puts a lot of pressure on me and I think ‘am i really good for nothing?’ I take it in a wrong way and sometimes I have negative thoughts tbh. I’m really trying my level best to crave a future for me. I’m giving my entrance exams. I’m studying for other exams. What more should I do? Beg people to give me jobs?

How can peopl say something so easily without knowing the repercussions of it? That single word or sentence can hurt people and put lot of pressure on human being. In today’s time, people don’t seem to care much what they say. They just say and walk away.

Few people said this to me today. ‘You are doing nothing just sitting at home,watching netflix and prime. Is this what life you want? Yo don’t care about your future. Do you even know what you want to do?’

I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. I don’t know what future hold for me. I’m trying my level best to do something in life. Just bwcause I don’t have a college or job that doesnt mean I’m “good for nothing”.

Life has played a very cruel game with the Bryant family. Nobody in a million years could have taught that he would be taken away from his family and the world. They might be thinking about having dinner that night and watching the Grammy’s. No one thought death would strike their home that night. That got me thinking,death should first knock and ask permission and take that person away after giving an intimation about it.

Vanessa was a Wife till Sunday, today she is a widow which she wouldn’t have ever imagined. Navigating through life would be so difficult now. There would be painful and tearful thanksgiving,new years eve,Christmas,Halloween,easter and all other festivals. I can’t imagine how they will have family dinners and lunches. He wouldn’t be there to see his three daughter’s graduate from school and college nor their weddings or their accomplishments.

The youngest daughter Capri (7 months old) won’t be able to know her father and how he was and who he was except from other people’s mouth.
