But..the lore (for the people who love to read).

Galloway grew up on Hocotate as a Koppaite (a "biology post" will come soon to explain), living with her paternal grandmother until her grandmother's passing that left Galloway orphaned at 9. Living in poverty as a lonely Koppaite, Galloway was bullied for her malnourished appearance and for her alien heritage. As a teen, she grew up around Louie (ship idea?) which helped them become close friends as the "weird kids who liked bugs."

When Louie left to search for Olimar (during the events of Pikmin 4), Galloway signed up for Hocotate Freight to pay off her generational debt, caused by her parents. So, she set off for PNF-404 in her self-built ship, the S. S. Gillyflower, before crashing. On PNF-404, Galloway was immediately killed and mauled by the nocturnal monsters, before being given another chance at life by the Master Onion, turning into a Leafling (why no leaves? will explain in "biology post").
