'bout to take you higher

My grandpa passed away this morning. He might not be around anymore but he lived a long and wonderful life. 

He met my grandma, the love of his life. They had their 50th anniversary 2 years ago. That is just amazing.... 

He was a cop in the Philippines during the Marcos Era. He always told me stories about that time. He always did the right thing. Other officers that outranked him always told him to lie or to turn the other cheek when they would participate in illegal and corrupt activities. He never listened to their bullshit. He served and protected the people. I am proud of him. 

He came to the U.S with my grandma about 30 years ago. He worked very hard and bought a lovely place in Queen, NY. They had the biggest garden and he was very proud of it. Flowers and vegetables everywhere. 

I can barely remember it because I was only a kid when they still had the garden. 

It is so hard not to be sad. I mean I should be sad. but I should also celebrate his life. To be proud of him. To remember him and all the good he has done for everyone. 

I just wish I was able to talk to him one last time. I wish I talked to him more.
