The future of earth, the future of Gintama

First of all, we started keeping in touch with the earth.

The morning part last 3 hours! In the middle of it they rested too, let’s take a stroll in Inokashira park!!

We were thinking what to do for this planet that we live in.  ehm… actually what are we doing? 

Shinpachi: The hell we know!!

All returned child thanks to a good stroll in the park. the park’s speciality is boat riding!! lovely voices are all around. In the upper left photo, Saito-san is in good terms with a bird. But, too bad is only a faked situation. We are really really sorry.

Ooishi: Well, your first love? Tell us about your first love.

Sorachi: My first love, it happened at the kindergarten.

Oonishi: Who?

Sorachi: Nakashima °° ka°°-chan.

The others: (LOL)

Sorachi: I’m wondering if I have other qualities…

Sorachi: They are cute in reality too. But when it comes to manga, are hard to reproduce.

Hakkekyuu Ou (Leukocyte King):  I just wanted to play Dragon Quest so he was born. - 50 points  

Jiraia: My idea of a ninja is of someone not just simply cool, but someone who ominously uses their own body as a weapon, someone who deliberately disposes of their very humanity, this kind of eccentric being. I wanted to make him into someone who has this kind of bizarre vibe to him, but I’m worried he just turned out into another pervert. - 65 points

Ketsuno Seimei: Goes without saying that he was based off Abe no Seimei. I’m often asked why in all the sibling relationships in Gintama there seems to be a brother complex going on, but if you look into the siblings setting of manga you’ll find a brother complex in most of them. - 70 points

Gedoumaru:  Actually Gedomaru was the birth name for Shuten-doji of Ooe Mountain, the demon who was exorcised by Kintaro. Making her tag along with Gintoki, who was based off Kintaro, was making a dream duo come true to me - 100 points

Pandemonium: I was told that Pandemonium-san is the most gorgeous out of Gintama’s pretty girls, and because she was perceived so well, ever since she appeared, the other girls’ eyelashes have gained in weight too. Pandemonium-san’s debut has changed the very history of Gintama. She is indispensable, so. - 100 points

Doromizu Jirocho: Most of Gintama’s male characters are useless but I think it’s not the case for Jirocho-kun. He’s a continuous case of “if you have so much stuff on your mind, just spit it out” isn’t he. Normally, you don’t stab old hags. The shyness comes in variety. But he’s cool, so. - 80 points

Chin Pirako: I was planning on making her an annoying and obnoxious kind of girl, untypical for Gintama, but in the end she turned out to be a truly good girl*. The principle of Doraemon Gian movies isn’t it. - 85 points *he used the word “musume”, which can mean either girl or daughter. could have meant that she turned out to be a great daughter, up to interpretation but i tend to believe it’s this version.

Two Years Later arc characters: To be completely honest, time-skip Gin-san and Kagura made me feel completely burnt out. - 50 points

Sasaki Isaburo: Mimawarigumi was thought out as this elite group opposing the thug-like police and the Shinsengumi without having a certain character design in mind so I had to improvise. Isaburo-kun was initially supposed to be sporting a silk hat and a cane, but since the concept was the opposition to the Shinsengumi, i settled for what we have now. - 85 points

Imai Nobume: This one time I was late with the deadline and I sent in a manuscript that didn’t have anything inked in and all was white. In that very chapter, by chance, Nobume-san has said something like “to hell with white and black”, thus splendidly turning my mistake into a joke, so. - 100 points

Sakata Kintoki: To be honest I just wanted to be able to use the title “Kintama*”. Yet the poor guy got his own b*lls ripped off and made to star into a weird love comedy. - 90 points *everyone knows by know im sure, but just in case - kintama means testicles

Oboro: Since Tendoshuu are slow in their deeds, I made them, the Tenshoin Naraku, work as their executive force. If you think of Tenshoin Naraku = Tendoshuu, it’s easier to understand. - 70 points

Yoshida Shouyo: He looks kindhearted and gentle at the first glance, yet all of his students have uttered “my regards to sensei when you meet him in hell”. Now why is everything about their mentor so vague? - 70 points

Obi Hajime: He’s an older brother figure different from Sakata-kun. I regret that I couldn’t draw these two older brothers together a little more. - 75 points

Ikeda Asaemon: There are about 3 patterns when drawing Gintama characters, but in Asaemon’s case I went out of my way to base her on a celebrity. So, to Goriki-san. - 100 points

Mutsu: Considering her little panel time, Mutsu-san is quite popular, and taking Tatsuma-kun’s character into account, I had suspicion she’s no regular human from way before. But even I was surprised when she turned out to be Yato. I’m glad i made her wear that hat at all times. - 75 points

Yagyuu Kyuubei*: Once the Yagyuu arc was over with I planned to do a complete turn-over on Yagyuu-kun, turning her into a pigtails-wearing sword-fighting downtown belle, but then I realized that if she were able to become a woman this easily, she wouldn’t have had to go through all that trouble to begin with. From there on I got invested in her conflict, and as she was straying off searching for a p*nis, I came to the conclusion that rather than being masculine or feminine she shall live true to herself. You have a rough way ahead, but I will cheer for you. - 70 points *every transliteration of her name reads as kyuubei, but the correct one is kyubee. kyuubei is way easier on the eye in latin alphabet though so i’ll keep using it

Tojo Ayumu: I acknowledge that Tojo-kun’s role in helping Kyuubei-kun, who was introduced as a villain, get rid of her unpleasant image and blend in with the group, was big. But I also acknowledge that he’s involved in way too many dirty jokes, so. - 20 points

Tokugawa Shigeshige: Tension and relief are a good laugh-inducing mechanism, and since his position as shogun is supposed to bring in the utmost tension, it was extremely easy to write jokes with him. But in a way his existence is close to something resembling infringement so I tried to not overuse him. - 85 points

Okita Mitsuba: Since real life Okita Souji had tuberculosis and was quite miserable and unhappy, I felt it was kind of unfair to have the Gintama Okita-kun doing so good, so I gave that misfortune to his sister instead. I feel kind of guilty because of this, so. - 100 points

Tama: Gintama has a lot of characters with difficult, troublesome personalities, and I’m often told that Tama-san is the sole upright one in the bunch. As she’s slowly becoming more and more human, I’m excited to see if she’ll be able to keep that. - 75 points

Ito Kamotaro: There were two people to cause disrupt in the real Shinsengumi: Serizawa Kamo and Ito Kashitaro, so I mixed them together. Still, if I had to choose, the character was based more off Ito Kashitaro. - 70points

Kawakami Bansai: He seems cool at the first glance, but as the producer of Otsuu-chan he writes the songs, and when you read the lyrics you can’t help but wonder if the one writing them is absolutely sick in the head. Anyway apart from Takasugi-kun, the Kiheitai itself is a circus. Takasugi-kun is admirable for being able to keep a serious face in that kind of place. - 75 points

Tsukuyo: As I was against the idea of making Yoshiwara chockablock full of only miserable women, the plan was to draw a Yoshiwara-style cool one. It resulted in a pure-hearted innocent girl with a great physique. Actually it’s the mob hyakka ones that are giving me trouble - their outfits are terribly difficult to draw. - 75 points

Hosen: Frankly in the first drafts he was written as this lewd old man residing in Yoshiwara, but because Kamui-kun shows up I ended up making him as strong as Umibozu. Still, there’s something appealing about strong geezers. - 85 points

Kamui: I wanted him to balance out Kagura by being the Predator to her Saiyan, and ended up with drawing Fullmetal Alchemist. I noticed later. I swear it wasn’t plagiarizing. Well, except the Saiyan and Predator part, those were. - 70 points

Sarutobi Ayame: A lot of people misunderstand her since Sarutobi-san, as a ninja and as an assassin, is indisputably top-notch. But if you put Sakata-kun in front of her, she becomes a dirty sow. If you cut out the negative side and, say, if there was no Sakata-kun in Gintama, she would probably be perceived completely differently. - 75

Otose: When things are painful and difficult, it’s time for this gran to show up. In short, she’s just an old hag. When I’m in trouble it’s enough to bring Otose-san out and she helps me to more or less wrap the story up. She’s a very important old hag to me. - 95p

Catherine: Actually she was supposed to be an one-shot minor villain, yet at some point she integrated the Yorozuya family and became part of it. She’s a little sly and she’s harsh, she’s sometimes quite proper too and somehow she feels like the most Gintama-like, or, say, Gintama-ish character for me. - 85 points

Tarakado Tsuu: When I was drawing her I was thinking that there’s no way such a vulgar idol could exist in the real world, but if you look at things now you realize that there’s plenty of idols who are just as absurd as her. I cheer for Otsuu-chan to not lose to those girls in pushing forwards on the idol path. - 70 points

Sakamoto Tatsuma: Tatsuma-kun is, how to say it, the weakest yet the strongest, but as I felt that sheer physical strength won’t unravel Sakamoto Ryoma’s appeal at all, I left that to Mutsu-san. As for him, I’m writing him holding a lot of human resource, or, to rephrase, someone so outstandingly powerful it couldn’t even show up on the parameter in Dragon Quest. - 75 points

Hattori Zenzo: If it weren’t for his hemorrhoids he would be on a par with Sakata-kun regarding actual skill, but is it due to my poor drawing or is it because he reeks of an old man, he doesn’t seem to be very popular. Well, that makes him even more shadow-like*, so. - 85 points *refers to being like a ninja, lol

Takasugi Shinsuke: In the beginning Takasugi-kun was the kind of villain to only make his lackeys do his deeds for him, with him sneering in the background, but now that he’s becoming the villain that gets things done himself, I’m happy. Let’s keep destroying this rotten world. - 75 points

Okada Nizou: Nizou-kun has walked the path of evil until the very end, something quite rare for Gintama. Being able to carry out what was originally planned for him, he was a good hero. - 90 points

Kijima Matako: Kijima-san has been head over heels for Takasugi-kun for these past 10 years yet she doesn’t have a single scene in which they’d engage in actual conversation. Dreams come true if you don’t give up. - 70 points

Takechi Henpeita: The private dialogue he and Takasugi-kun could have are a mystery. Who is the tsukkomi to Kijima-san and Takechi-kun’s boke, after all, Takasugi-kun or Kawakami-kun? - 80 points
