Most of my Gingerpilot headcanons have already been explored in my fic, but I’ll happily share them here:
1) Who suffers from nightmares? Of what?
Mainly Hux, of things being done to him or people turning on him. Of not being safe. Of not being able to escape. Poe has them less commonly, of having done something that got other people killed and no one wanting to talk to him as a result. Sometimes in the dream he doesn’t know what it is he’s done.
2) Who would hesitate before killing the other in a battle?
Both would. Poe wouldn’t carry through with it. For Hux, it would depend on where in the relationship they were and why they were in battle against one another.
3) Who would free the other if they were taken prisoner and tortured by the opposite alliance?
Most likely Hux would. Poe wouldn’t expect Hux to be mistreated or tortured in Resistance hands, but he’d know enough to stay close (like in Hux’s cell or next to it) just in case. But Poe wouldn’t free Hux. If their positions were reversed, Hux would get Poe out of there and take whatever punishment came as a result, if he couldn’t arrange to blame it off on someone else.
4) Who/what would they unite against in the war?
Too vague. I’m not sure. For Hux, it’s any enemy of the Order. For Poe, it’s anyone who’s not morally right. There’s a little bit of overlap there.
5) What is the worst inner demon that each of them hides? Do they ever disclose them to the other? If so, under what circumstances?
For Hux, that he was too weak to resist Snoke and that he killed his father. He won’t disclose either until there is a great deal of intimacy and trust between them.
For Poe, it’s pretty much what we saw happen in TLJ - he made a string of bad decisions and got most of the Resistance killed. Which he’ll admit if he has to because it’s public record, but he sure isn’t going to volunteer it - intimate, trusting, or not. That’s a thing between Poe and himself. Hux doesn’t factor into it much.
6) Who would negotiate a peace treaty between the First Order and the Resistance? On what terms?
My take on the Resistance as it stands after TLJ is that there isn’t enough there to be worth a peace treaty, unless the Resistance is basically fronting for ALL the angry elements of the New Republic. In which case, sure, Hux would happily negotiate the surrender of the NR and try to keep the terms from being too harsh. After all, he wants to be able to rule them without too much rebellion.
Poe won’t give up his principles. This would be a hard sell unless he could be convinced the treaty was what was best for the galaxy.
7) Let’s say the Resistance wins, and Hux is taken prisoner. How does this play out?
As it stands end of TLJ? I’d say they’d execute him. If they were already in love for some reason, then Poe would try to jail break him and go live in exile somewhere.
8) Let’s say the First Order wins, and Poe is taken prisoner. How does this play out?
Default response is to pump him for information and then execute. Hux would know what strings to pull to get Poe’s sentence shifted to long term imprisonment and make the imprisonment more like house arrest. Poe wouldn’t want to play along, but he might if they were in love (which is the only way Hux would bother to help him). Because Poe would know if Hux helped him and he then escaped, that Hux would suffer for it and perhaps be killed.
9) Who would have the hardest time adjusting to civilian life after the war?
10) How do they comfort each other?
Poe provides quiet love and steady support, praise, respect, and thoughtfulness. Hux provides appreciation, service (sex, obedience, what Hux thinks a dutiful lover should do, etc.), trust, and affection. Poe is very careful not to push Hux’s boundaries and Hux works hard to expand them for Poe’s benefit. Poe tries to provide comfort by moving closer to Hux, making himself available for contact, and doing exactly what Hux tells him to. Hux tries to provide comfort by embracing Poe, holding him, and speaking to him softly as he does to no one else.
Headcanons for their experiences with Force mind-probing? We know for sure that Poe went through this during the interrogation, and chances are Snoke and/or Kylo was in Hux’s head at some point during his time at the First Order.
Poe has had no mind-probing aside from canon. Hux has experienced it extensively.
Headcanons for whether Hux interacted with Poe during his imprisonment in Episode 7?
Hux watched the last part of the interrogation as it happened, but there really wasn’t much to see. He watched the rest of it later and was about as disappointed. There’s just not much visual/audio in Ren’s interrogations. But he gets off on the control, power, and an attempt to vicariously live through the tormentor in a situation that Hux has so long been the victim of.
