Having a Theory about a piece of media but also being too scared to say anything in case it's either

A) actually a common thought in the fandom that I am usually not That Into and so haven't actually seen at all

Anyway, uh, Control Resonant sure seems like it has an awful lot of Opposites* to Control (2019) going on and I do wonder if the "big bad" causing all those problems

Perhaps this is an obnoxious take on my part, but video games should, above all things, prioritize the ability of being paused. At any point. Regardless of whether it's during a cutscene, a special animation, or a time-based puzzle. You never know when you're gonna get a phone call, or someone will need you in another room, or you get a sudden urge to go to the bathroom, or you hear your cat licking plastic, or whatever. Other entertainment mediums like books, movies, and music can be paused whenever you want. Why do some games not give you the same luxury??

#i live on my own in a block of flats and the regular couriers have kinda twigged that My Flat will almost always open the door for them #so i can be playing a viddy game and then suddenly the intercom starts going off #where i have to let them in through TWO sets of doors so i cant quickly run over. open the door. sit back down #i have to wait for that 2nd ring #Being able to pause in the middle of a cutscene is a necessity!#i always get very nervous having to press the pause button in a cutscene in a New Game because i never know if itll do anything #but if im playing a game single player. if it is online and there is no one playing with me. pausing should not be optional :)#im sorry we've been pausing games for decades at this point. your game should have a pause function ACCESSED WITH ONE BUTTON as standard :)#you just dont know what will come up that will require you to step away from the game!#LET PEOPLE PAUSE

I started replaying Control during my lunch breaks in the run up to Resonant

and I forgot how much i truly want to understand the lore of this world, and how it all works

.... in a game that is intentionally written to hide and obscure many parts of its lore and inner workings. That it isnt really meant to be explained to the player, because not even the in-universe characters know it.

And it sort of makes me feel a bit dumb to be holding all these little strings and not having a single bloody clue how it all connects together. But i also know im not SUPPOSED to be able to connect it all together? IT STILL MAKES ME FEEL DUMB THO!!

... It also doesnt help i havent played Alan Wake, because i am a wuss who does not like horror. And i am sure theres some lore stuff im missing because of that 😞

#anyway really fun thing yesterday was just about to enter the Communications department and Tomassi is muttering some nonsense?#and some connects to Jesses talk about a room and a poster on the wall and seeing BEYOND the poster #like the Hiss is clearly intentionally using a very similar metaphor to Jesse to... get Jesse on its side? Or to see its point?#but he also mentions how the FBCs regulations LET the Hiss in?#and im chewing on the bars of my enclosure what does that M E A N??#but i cant remember the game ever explaining what exactly the Hiss was. No one knows what it or Polaris is #the game doesnt want to explain that stuff to the player because the people in universe dont know it either!#im hoping Resonant actually touches on it more? even though it SEEMS to be a different phenomena #i say SEEMS because theres actually a very early game communication that uses the word Resonance and i dunno if thats a coincidence or not!

For a few years now, ive thought we could Hold Fire on the next console generation for some time, because this current console generation has been SO slow to start. We've only just started seeing games drop last-gen support! We dont NEED a new generation of consoles every 8 years when it took 2 years for people to be able to walk into a store to buy a new console that day, and 5 years for last-gen support to start winding down.

and now theres all-but-confirmation they really are going to come out in 2028, im just looking at PC part prices and thinking how many people are probably not going to upgrade. At all....

One of the big boosts to this generation of consoles was fast loading speeds due to moving from HDDs to flash hard drives. And with SSDs now over £200 for 2TB of data... whose going to buy one of those over a MUCH cheaper HDD for games that are over 200gb each? 32gb of RAM is now £400? Mid-range GPUs are the price High-End was just 5 years ago.

Like, with these prices, people are going to cling onto old PC builds for longer. Theyre not going to buy the next consoles day 1 because they cant afford it.

So if developers actually want their game to sell a decent amount, they have to... continue developing for the current hardware for longer. meaning theres even LESS reason to upgrade! 🙃🙃

Anyway
