A succession of performances by such luminaries of The No Audience Underground as MAGGIE NICOLS, FARADENA AFIFI, GWEN KASSENAR, JO MORRISON, NICKY SMITH, JULIAN WOODS, CHARLOTTE KEEFE, YASUKO KENEKO, BETTINA SCHROEDER & MAUREEN WOLLOSHIN that will highlight the inarguable irrelevance of blokefolk, as the assembled artists entertain, dazzle & bamboozle Fruitmarket's audience with an evening of avant-garde Feminist sound from the periphery of what you imagine is describable as music.

Tfeh's Ali Robertson finds himself in the uniquely odd position of being in competition with himself, as he will perform on a bill with Noisy Women, as a member of Sonic Bothy's Ensemble & Learning Space groups in Glasgow the previous evening. Danny cruises into Edinburgh, Midlothian all the way from Houston, Texas propelled by his preposterously healthy cariovascular system alone. Those same lusty lungs will be employed, in conjunction with his fluttering tongue, flickering fingers & gnashing mandible to deliver a set of non-idiomatic solo saxophone improvisation that bounces between multiphonics, swing rhythms & longform skronk primed to shock yr lugholes out of contemporary music complacency. Ali Robertson unexpectedly happened upon the unexpected happenings of Kit while holidaying last summer in the sunnier climes of southern Englandshire. Similarly, when an Occupational Therapist was judging whether-or-not I was "fit to work", I witnessed the assesor spraff his verdict at a machine without use of pen, paper or keyboard and my jaw hit the floor. So you can imagine how the concept of Dr. Mudd algorithmically asking his computer to synthesise cures for free music's various ailments might in turn induce an aneurysm in my cavebrain, right? This Sunday in Glasgow, I am happy to say that I’ll be presenting a session for young folks who experience barriers to music making as part of Music Space’s current series of workshops. The definition of “young folks” is pretty wide and Music Space can include people up to the age of 30 if they are:

– Disabled, including those with a long-term illness, neurodiverse people and anyone else who would identify with the social model of disability.

– Care experienced, and/or have been a young carer (including those with children or those who have cared for/are caring for someone with a long-term illness or disability).

It’s been said that I like the sound of my own voice, but this isnae actually true. Hence me taking a while to plug this episode of nice guy Jim Reeve-Baker’s ‘Into The Noise’ podcast where I open my gob and let my arse rumble.

Listening to Robert Baldock's music provides an argument that an urgent thrombectomy of Erik Satie's music seems as vital as the procedure that saved Doc Baldock's life. Random rules as sounds and ideas are plucked like clots from a blocked blood vessel and spat by computer into an aural Petri dish for the kind of observation that usually evades the naked lughole.

ALISON BEATTIE. Having already exchanged the investigation of chemical bonds in chemical compounds for an intense interest in sound sculptures and field recordings, Dr Alison Beattie's next experiment sees her employing the simple mathematical division-by-four of her regular MWAK improv quartet to find out what happens when she interrogates the saxophone at molecular level in what will be her very first solo set.
