The Yellow One (COMPLETE)
I heard something about nuance from the context of Chainsaw Man. For some context, I haven't even seen the Reze arc, I just read the manga once, till Chapter 30 ig.
When Denji says, "I wanna touch some (stuff)...", people say that Denji's being a silly character having base ambitions.
If you have seen the panel under which it was said, you'll know that newspapers were there, the floor was a bit dirty, posters of girls in bikinis could be seen on the far side of the room. In the midst of it, Denji is crouching, while— I won't try to explain it, because a picture is worth a thousand words. I have taken this from an LLM, but I have removed every kind of analysis it made:
At the heart of the image, slightly left of center, a young man with light, spiky hair is crouched in a tight, compact posture. His body is turned away from the viewer, and his head is bowed low, obscuring his face entirely and directing all focus to his posture of vulnerability or contemplation. He is dressed in simple, casual attire: a light-colored, possibly white, button-up shirt worn open over a darker shirt, dark pants, and athletic-style sneakers.
The room he occupies is in a state of extreme neglect and clutter. To the right, massive, towering stacks of manga or magazines are piled precariously high, reaching toward the ceiling and threatening to topple over. In the foreground and to the left, the floor is littered with more scattered papers, books, and what appears to be an overflowing garbage bag, spilling its contents onto the floor.
The floor is almost completely obscured by a sea of debris, primarily composed of books, magazines, and loose papers. In the foreground, these items are strewn about haphazardly, their spines broken and pages askew. To the character's left, a lumpy, indistinct shape suggests a full trash bag.
The background further develops this theme. On the right, a perilously tall, teetering stack of magazines or books leans against the doorframe, reaching almost to the ceiling. Its instability seems to mirror a potential psychological fragility. The doorframe itself appears to be made of dark wood, and something—perhaps a calendar or a piece of clothing—is tacked onto the wall or door beside it. On the back wall, to the left, are two posters depicting stylized drawings of women in revealing, pin-up poses.
Here's the picture for the lazy ones:
When the guy says that he wants some (stuff), it dampens the hit of this scene. But (and here's what I haven't mentioned), if this guy is shown sulking without any of those words, it suddenly becomes too serious to ignore.
The narrator of the video even added that here, if Denji says, "I just wanna be loved...", it doesn't remain funny anymore.
He also remarked that this is what is meant by nuance. You need to see what Denji does or doesn't say, or what he wraps in his words.
If you are interested, I think you should check out his video:
Coming back to the point, I just liked that someone explained about Denji so flawlessly. I still consider him as a "literally me" character because of the undertones he leaves. And I genuinely felt lighter thinking about "nuance".
Given that, there are certain cult classics which give me that exact same vibe.
Fire Punch: I have only read a few chapters, but the vibe is as heavy as the cold atmosphere there. I read them during my darkest periods, and everything resonated with me so much. I'm not talking about the "Sweet Home Alabama"-like stuff, I'm not talking about the literal cannibalism going on there. I'm simply talking about the vibes there. If you give it an absolutely serious read, then you'll find some of the most goosebump-inducing narrations you'll ever see.
Chaos;Head NoAH: One of the best (if not the best) Visual Novels of all time. The characters feel fleshed out and the narration style feels sexy. Some people find Takumi to be a downright pathetic hikikomori, but there's more to it than meets the eye. He is actually quite a deep character. His calculated nature in academics can easily be seen when it's shown that Takumi has a calendar of the school days, and he has already decided upon which of the two days of the week to attend. All of that is done to be in strict adherence with the minimum attendance requirements for graduation. Also, he knows English quite well, something where the Japanese students struggle a lot. Yes, he plays all day, has a lot of anime figurines, lives in a literal shipping container on the terrace, and has an absolutely messy room, but he does score well in his exams and he has a genuine fear of looking behind, which makes this character strangely human. Idk how...
Let's dissect something.
Life feels too disillusioned these days. Why? Because I see the poison people from a lot of groups spread.
One of the notable examples is r/Fauxmoi. I not talking about them in detail, just google their antics.
There are more from every side of the compass, but I got this one out at first.
Before saying anything, no I don't want every celebrity action to be dissected into political drama.
For psychology's sake, just... think empathy. That's what it all lacks. A sense of empathy for a person.
One doesn't NEED to be an overqualified but biased karen to be a critic. If one is, that'll feel abnormal to the person, as well as the receiver of the thoughts. It's because empathy is the fuel of humanity.*¹ Also, critical thinking is not just being critical, it is... having an inquisitive mind which asks questions.
See, these are not even points 'worth' noting in the footnotes of a book dealing with these issues. But they need to be stated, even if some sharp words are hurled at me as fast as light.
We need to understand each other. We need to simply exist, on our own terms, in this society. Because death is fucking imminent, and life is short. And human civilization is a temporal blip in the cosmological scale. And gender hate politics is an added complication. And, I personally think that we deserve politics free of this "us vs them" shit. Very ideal for the naively jubilant, but so be it.
*¹(Empathy ≠ Sympathy, because in empathy, you need to imagine the world THROUGH their eyes. In sympathy, you might not notice the problematic patterns in a novel problem. Btw, what you're thinking about is out of the scope of this post)

Went kernel-level for the past few months while dealing with my Linux PC. Literally lived in the mailing lists for the month.
Thankfully, a patch fixing my issues is going to be merged pretty soon
To my friends in the West, please don't go for false equivalence and watch this at first. This is the only video I could find talking about the situation, and Grok here states the facts behind the guy's talk (Asmon isn't even talking that much here)
This is important for everyone to see

As an artist who is very opinionated on which kind of video editing is right or wrong, I'm really sorry at this point.
You guys are overdoing this anti-trend with an abundance of witch hunts.
Yeah you're right. It WOULD be pretty fucked up if you were a swan but you were raised by ducks and you grew up never seeing another swan or even knowing that such a thing as a swan even existed so you just thought you were a duck with something super wrong with it.
No Longer Human.
being a humanities major who’s friends with stem majors is so funny because you’ll ask your friends what they’re doing today and they’re like “UGH it’s so stressful i have to stabilize the reactor core for my nuclear power midterm and then i have to build the supercomputer from i have no mouth yet i must scream for my electrical engineering homework :/ what about you” and you’re like “oh well i have to read a fun little book and write an essay about gender.” and they still think you have it worse
Being a stem major who's friends with humanities majors is ALSO funny bc you ask what's goin on with them and they're like "oh yeah my day's pretty good! I only have to read 50 pages for this one class today and half a book for another one. It's much better than last week where I read three books and wrote a 10 page paper about their overlapping motifs for one class while also researching a niche period of time that our library doesn't have any resources on. How's it been for you?" and you're like "oh I have a lil packet of fun math puzzles due tomorrow." and they look at you like you're carrying the weight of the universe on your back
It's my 3 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
