Please Donât Leave Me Again
Thrawn was slowly walking though the shipâs hallway, hoping to find his allies before the assassin that stabbed him had. He was losing blood fast, and was most likley at risk of passing out. Some movment ahead caught his attention. He looked up and sawâ no. It couldnt be.
âThrassâŚ?â he weakly called, careful confusion in his voice. There, only a few meters away, Thrass was standing in the hall, looking at him. He was dressed in a simple burgundy robe that came down to his knees and black pants. It was very similar to what he usually wore when they met at the bistro they liked, all those years ago. Thrawn missed those days, playing games, talking, and laughing over nothing with his brother. Using one hand to steady himself of the wall and the other to hold his wound, Thrawn limped his way to Thrass. The older man just stood there, his face showing no emotion as he watched. Thrawn was only a few steps away from Thrass when his legs gave out and he fell at the otherâs feet. He fell with a thoud thud, and blood continuted to leak from the wound in his side.Â
âThrass,â Thrawn managed as his breath came is short rasps. He was getting dizzy, the world around him was spinning and blurry. But that did not matter. All that mattered was the man in front of him. Thrawn looked from his positions on the floor and saw that Thrass was less than an armâs length away. He reached up with a shaky hand and tried to grab his brotherâs leg, but he touched nothing.Â
âwhat?â he mumbled, unsure of what had happened. Did Thrass step away? Was he upset about his death, about everything Thrawn had done?
âIâm sorry. For everything. Please Thrass, don't leave me again.â Tears began to mix with the sweat on Thrawnâs face. He had lost a lot of blood, restraint and control were no longer a concern of his. Trying with all his might, Thrawn looked up again to see Thrass standing above him. The older man then turned and walked away, leaving Thrawn to bleed out in the hall alone.
âBrother?â was the last thing Thrawn said before slipping into unconsciousness.Â
In almost an instant, Thrawn awoke in the med bay. Someone next to him began talking, but he couldnt hear them. The events leading up to now came back to him, he remembered the assassin and getting stabbed before he could defeat his advasary. He also remembered seeing Thrass as he was trying to get back to his allies.Â
ââapart from that, the mission was a success,â the voice next to him said. Thrawn paused and looked over at the source of the voice. It was Eli, his trusted aide and, as of rather recently, lover.Â
âVery well,â Thrawn began, trying to keep his usual aura of composure, âwas there anything strange? More people than there should have been?â Eli paused and looked at him.
âNo sir, everyone was accounted for and the ship was searched. Why, you see somethin?âÂ
âWell, I may not be a medical expert, definitly not one for Chiss, but you did lose a lot of blood. That can cause hallucinations. You were mumbling about something when we found you. Everyone else thought you were talkin about your injury, but you sounded more upset and distressed than the last few times you were this injured.â Thrawn looked down, trying to gather his thoughts. A hallucination made sense, it could be why he was not able to touch anything and why his brother never respond or showed any emotion. But part of him could not shake the feeling that maybe it was Thrass. Maybe he did resent Thrawn for getting him killed. Thrawn sighed as he came to the last thought. He remembered all the comforts Arâalani had told him after Thrass died, how their hands were all tied and Thrass made his own choice. But were they? Thrass should not have been on that ship, it was Thrawn that should have perished that day. Yet here he was, so far from their home and alive while Thrassâ body decayed in an unfamiliar ship in an unknown location.Â
âAre you okay?â Eli asked, fully putting his datapad down. Thrawn nodded.
âI believe you are right about the hallucination,â he said softly, âI suppose it just brought back old memories.â
