I’m also curious abt fireys sleep paralysis demon, I know it’s a one off joke bc jokes like that were very popular back when the ep released but im a bit curious abt what stress factor (or smth mental ig) is going on in his life for him to be having one without any other obvious cause like sleep deprivation.

for the sleep paralysis thing, i definitely recall people taking it way more seriously than i thought. for example, there was a theory i saw in servers like htwins where people sincerely thought evil leafy was firey’s sleep paralysis demon and that this would be a hint for a “big return.” it was quite an interesting era of the show, that’s for certain..

for causes, all of my thoughts are sadly just hcs. i personally like to imagine that he actually does struggle with sleeping, partially because he is made of energy and thus has a sleep schedule that’s off.. but also because i like to imagine he suffers from nightmares. i’ve had a lot of hcs for that in my head but i’m gatekeeping 🤫 ptsd is also a cause for sleep paralysis.. some people who might had read my 10k word essay on Firey’s neurodivergence/mental health might know i also personally think he has that.

I always love looking up analyses of my fav characters , to see how others view them, but when it comes to Firey, most of the time, they have horrible takes they never dive into why he might act the way he does they just write him off as a horrible, bland , boring etc.

Especially when it comes to the Fireafy ark. Don't get me wrong, I love leafy she is also one of my favs, but I feel like lots of people like to make out that all Firey actions had malicious intent to hurt leafy when thats just not the case and it's clear that's not the case (to me anyway)

Anyways, sorry if any punctuation or grammar is wrong. I struggle with putting my thoughts into writing a lot. I'm just so happy i decided to look on Tumbler bc YouTube analyses make me want to rip my hair out. I literally agree with all the things you said

i’ve honestly never had any askbox messages sent to me on here, so this is very interesting.. thank you very much, though! it truly baffles me as well how there is so much misinformation and slander spread about a little fictional flame.. if there is anything that i can do to disprove that or help others feel validated, then i will in fact continue to grit my teeth at youtube videos and spend way too much time arguing about him!

Hi everyone! I’m conducting an anonymous (You only need an email to avoid spam, I won’t record it.) survey to see how people characterize Firey, Leafy, Coiny and Pin. Additionally, I am trying to assess anything that may influence that. (Ex. Ships, choice of favorite character, fanfiction, headcanons from other people, etc.)

There is no “wrong” answer, I am just looking for fandom causes of answers. I would really appreciate if people would be able to take this or at least share this with others so that I am able to gather worthwhile data. Thank you for your time.

(Mild spoilers for a specific BFDIA 23 scene below the cut!)

coiny is someone who like. very obviously has a savior complex right. we see it not just with his many desperate attempts to save pin but also through his relationship with barbecue sauce as well as he inserts himself into being the leader of any team he's on because it makes him feel wanted yes? he has his own personal traumas from bfdia (like being put in dangerous situations and losing someone he cares about multiple times) but he doesn't wanna focus on them so he NEEDS something to fixate on. what does he do? he focuses on "saving the people around him" aka firey and pin..

pin is pretty obvious. she may be "doing better" in idfb but she still has to focus on recovery because suddenly having limbs after months of living without them is weird! and painful! and terrifying! i imagine she probably struggles with phantom pain and has to frequently go to appointments that tennis ball and golf ball have her do to check on her body. and that's not even mentioning how nervous and anxious she's become out of fear of having everybody around her hate her again. not fun! at times she gets so upset about it that she lashes out at coiny and immediately feels awful for doing so afterwards especially with how close they are. naturally, this worries coiny a bunch, so he repeatedly tries to use their telepathic connection to keep an eye on her and see how things are going.. but he overuses it so much that he develops migraines and starts passing out. UH OH! and pin lowkey gets upset because she's so used to having her autonomy taken from her and coiny is unknowingly doing the same by acting like she can't do anything without him being around to "keep an eye on her."

at the same time, coiny is also trying to help firey who is uh. pretty visibly traumatized after being let out of his cage punishment. he seems normal in his first few days out but then his mental health rapidly deteriorates (i.e. constant flashbacks and hallucinations and paranoia) and he eventually isolates himself in his house. coiny is able to convince him to let him in and he starts frequently visiting him to help him get better until he's "strong enough" to go outside again but uh. fireys sense of connection/trust is so messed up at this point that he falls in love with coiny. or more so the idea of him. and its super unhealthy his entire wellbeing sort of hinges on coiny being around and when coiny indulges in it things only get worse because he's slowly hallucinating coiny more and more as his previous partner (gelatin, who broke up with firey and was partially responsible for firey getting punished due to letting freesmart do it without protesting) and coiny enables it because he thinks that it's the only thing that can make firey feel "okay" anymore.

well, unsurprisingly, pin finds out. even if she didn't use the telepathic link with coiny, she would've found out anyway through visiting firey herself. she's completely pissed off. coiny isn't helping firey get better at all. he's still barely eating and still locking himself away except only now, he's also completely dissociated from reality. it takes a lot of effort from pin (especially since she's also still struggling with her own issues) but slowly and surely she manages to pull firey out of his state. great! in fact, their friendship is starting to turn into something special due to their shared experiences with trauma and having trouble finding connections. good! except now coiny's feeling completely inadequate and incapable of helping anyone. uh oh! surely he will not do anything terrible and rash and impulsive.

except uhm. he will. because his own mental health is falling apart. not to mention how he also keeps having nightmares about failing to save barbecue sauce. and how firey and pin are probably next. and he's lowkey also neglecting his own health what with the telepathy induced migraines and having asthma (developed due to suffocating in space for 2 months) in an abandoned yet polluted city. at some point it all becomes too much and he just falls apart. needless to say this freaks firey and pin out and when coiny wakes up and sees this. he realizes something. how is he supposed to save other people when he can't even save himself?

Here we go! After 2 days of hard work and nearly 13k words worth of analysis, I have finished what may be a controversial literary paper. In this documentation, I cover the possibility of Firey being a neurodivergent and/or disabled character as well as why this makes his already odd fandom treatment even stranger through evidence I’ve experienced and witnessed over several years.
