Ahem-anyways! Imagine that after his first appearance in S1, instead of going to a mountain or isolated area to set up camp, he decided to enter the nearest home and crash there.

That home turns out to be you, who was just sitting at your desk, in your humble little apartment, and then suddenly there he was.

Needlessly to say, you screamed…almost. Macaque was able to cover your mouth and explain that he was gonna stay here until he could find somewhere else.

Well, you got his hand off of you by licking his hand at the end of his explanation and then it was his turn to scream.

And now your tongue tasted like darkness and monkey.

But congratulations! You got an unofficial roommate!

For the first few weeks living together it was definitely interesting. You, who’s a completely normal human being with a day job, and Macaque who’s literally THE six eared monkey that did battles and shadow puppets to make some sort of living.

Honestly he didn’t bother talking to you much in the beginning, because like he said, he was going to be out as soon as he could find somewhere to stay.

So that gave you some peace and you mostly went unbothered with your own

Eventually, he does end up helping around with a couple of groceries and occasionally giving you small little gifts he’d find along the way. It’s a mystery as to WHY but you didn’t complain.

When danger did start lurking about near your apartment, Macaque is the first one to protect you from it. Whereas you literally didn’t know there was any danger lingering to begin with.

(Probably why despite the many collateral damages happening in the city, your apartment was the only one that stayed standing.)

Until the events of S2, you and Macaque lived relatively well together! He’d do his part when you ask him to and there was something close to a respectful roommate relationship.

For the rest of the following seasons, I can see you two entering friendship status and soon romantic stages.

Macaque still resided with you when the Lady Bone Demon resurfaced.

And often times than not, you were there to help him relax after whatever it was that made him drained as he was. He was thankful you didn’t pry about that.

On those days, you’d sit him on the sofa, get him some water or whatever beverage he wanted from the fridge, get some snacks, then grab him a blanket.

You were…always there for him, he realized. You didn’t complain when he kept staying longer than he should’ve, and you didn’t kick him out either.

He started seeing you as a friend by that point.

By S3, he’d already be on the chase after MK and Son Wukong. Macaque left you a little note on the table with a small device. Something that will keep you safe since he’d be out with work.

It was basically a little protective device he made specifically for you.

Throughout the rest of S3, you were the only one that remained fine in a city covered in snow and ice. You stayed mostly in hiding but went out for food and helped any other civilians use your apartment as a shelter.

By the finale, you were relieved Macaque returned to you safely and the two of you caught up a lot on what happened.

Macaque was also relieved to see you safe and sound. He didn’t realize until S4 that he was completely smitten with you the longer he spent time apart.

Because honestly, deep down, somewhere along the way, you became like a small safe space for him, and that when he needs it, he’d go to you for that moment of rest.

Too bad you two couldn’t explore a potential blossoming romance because S6 is not likely! Yaaay….

I will say though, the slowburn was unintentionally crazy on my part. I do also like to say you two on the early half of the seasons got to know each other’s interest and hobbies and also the fact Macaque made a game…and you also totally played it.
