happy pride month to will byers and mike wheeler who are living in mamdani's new york and have gotten approached by meetcutes NYC and have gone to all the protests and broadway shows and drag cafes and are just living their best life after years of figuring stuff out.

will who got some memory loss after everything and mike desperately trying to help will remember who he is but to no avail; no matter how many photos or videos mike shows him, he can’t remember everything they had. mike cries himself to sleep one night and the next morning he wakes up to will kneeling next to his bed, holding out a glass of water to him. “i’m sorry i don’t remember everything, and i know you’re trying really hard, but all i remember is that i loved you, and i hope that’s enough.” and he leans down and presses a kiss to mike’s brow and it just makes him burst out into tears again

will who has gone to every protest and parade he aligns with since he moves to new york; pride, no kings, various rallies, everything. he’s well known in many of the groups, especially pride, and has been part of the planning committee for a few years. now, imagine his surprise when he’s walking with his friends, covered head to toe in blinding colors like a walking rainbow. his favorite part is that he’s not the only one, no where near it. he doesn’t have to hide, and he’s safe here. somewhere in the back of his brain, he thinks, mike would have loved this. he loved everything will loved, but for some reason he couldn’t love himself, despite that being the very thing will loved the most. one of his friends nudges him, saying, “dude, someone’s calling for you. you know that guy?” he turns toward the sound of a voice shouting, “will? will!” he turns, and time feels like it slows when he makes eye contact with mike wheeler himself, looking out of breath with a bi flag tied around his neck and painted on his face. “mike? what— what are you doing here?” “i came to all of them. i- i came because i hoped that i’d see you.”
