Mendelssohn- Department of the Royal Portrait : artists in this department was solely responsible for painting accurate portraits of the royal family, as artists were usually not allowed to paint the king’s face as a rule. The Jongmyo Jaesa is performed for the royal family’s ancestors, so it was very important to perform the music correctly and also beautifully.
