As brilliant as Evie could be with a pencil or a brush… she was absolutely rubbish with handling most electronics beyond knowing how to do things in the art and editing programs that she utilized. At least she wasn’t beyond asking for help when things went wrong.
It was bad timing really, in the middle of a large commission, for her tablet to malfunction. She generally did the majority of her work on a desktop computer at home with an extra copy backed up on an external harddrive, but the tablet was useful in keeping track of her schedule and doing small portions of the larger project while on the go. Evie had gotten very good at portioning out her time since Eric had gotten married and couldn’t spend as much time with her.
Honestly she had had to learn how to be independent of her longtime tutor turned pseudo guardian after this long under his guidance.
Checking the address she had written neatly in a small notebook, Evie made sure she was in the right place before heading in to find the apartment she had been told to go to.
Hmm… this door was the right one… probably?
Raising a hand, Evie knocked, only slightly startled by the loud bark that greeted her in return. She hugged her tablet a little closer to her chest as she waited for the door to be opened.
Raised as she was, Evie actually didn’t have much experience with animals. She had briefly considered adopting a pet of her own when she’d finished with her undergrad studies, but seeing as she was still learning how to take care of herself - she didn’t want to cause harm to an animal.
As the door was opened partly, Evie blinked quietly at the man that peered out at her. She’d… never actually met the man that she’d requested help from so - well she seemed to be in the right place though as he smiled and opened the door the rest of the way.
Her attention was immediately stolen by the dog that wandered out and sniffed around her feet.
A small smile made its way onto her lips and Evie’s eyes seemed to be sparkling before she realized she was being spoken to and returned her attention to the man.
“Oh yes, that’s me. I’m Evie, thank you for accommodating me.”
Excusing herself, Evie entered the other’s apartment. Eric would probably be screaming if he saw her now. Something about not going to a man’s apartment alone. Something about how she didn’t know anything about him. But he wasn’t here and Evie was never one to think that someone would have bad intentions.
And he was helping her so - plus he had such a cute dog!
Really it’s a wonder she’s gotten by so long like this.
“Coffee? A cup sounds nice… merci beaucoup.”
Eric would really be throwing a fit right about now.
Knox wasn’t immune to the smiles that came onto peoples faces as they saw the dogs. It gave him such joy that Macho was a people person, sending people smiles despite their reason for coming was because of something broken. It’s like they melted away sadness or disappointment.
“Ah no,no! Thank you for coming!” His voice replied, closing the door behind him as Evie stepped into his apartment, being as much of a gentleman as possible.
He heard her request for coffee loud and clear- he was thankful he didn’t have to waste it, for he really only cared about the aroma of it rather than the liquid its self.
His ears tickled as he heard another language touch his ears. It’s been awhile since he picked up another language around here, mostly everyone spoke English, or if anyone did speak another language it wasn’t towards him. He smiled back to her as he walked to the coffee pot, prepping a mug for her.
“Pas de problème, mademoiselle!” The accent was rough, but he was pretty sure he got it right.
“Wow it’s been awhile since I got to speak french, heh” He chuckled, making it as a vocal excuse for his horrible accent being added to his rusty french tongue.
He brought the cup to a small dining table just outside the small kitchen area of the apartment, clearing the chair for her to sit.
“Here! Please sit! From what you explained it should take me no time at all to get this fixed for you, its quite a thing with that model.”
He pulled out the seat on the other side of the table, which already had a small workshop set up established there, laptop and all.
“Oh yeah ah, may I see the tablet?” He forgot to even ask for the tablet, that was an amateur move, oh well.
