Red, yellow, and orange leaves were the background of the early weekend festival in the sister cities of Danon-Ouvara. Numerous families and children flocked through the streets, loud in their humor and jubilant as they made small talk and exchanges with booth owners and booth games. Fairy lights of white and black, among many other colors, were coiled around trees and triangle-shaped banners were linking trees and booths together, following a similar color pattern of orange and black.
Far too easily was she in her element, the heiress of ROYAL bundled up her greying locks into a bun, stray strands brushing against her face. As a religious volunteer to most and all events on a communal level, she had rolled up her sleeves to her grey turtleneck, keen on making the most of the festivals. Her eyes glanced around the crowd as she was seated properly on a bench. A kit of paints was at her station and she bobbed her head along to the music.
“Hello, hello!” The woman hummed at the young white-haired child who approached near her stand. ‘Were you interested in getting a little paint for the upcoming costume contest?”
Eri stared from the side at the painting stand with a sort of shy incoherency. She wasn’t sure what she wanted, but the gentle push from her foster father brought her stepping forward into the woman’s way. Fiddling with her cuffs of her sleeves for the tiniest amount of time, Eri thought of how to respond to this. She heard the music faintly in the background and focused on that for a few minutes in silence to calm her beating heart.
“U-Uhm...W-What would you do for my paint?” She asked, not making eye contact. She tried to tug at the pants of her tiger costume, before moving on to tug at the badly sown tiger mask on her face. Maybe getting rid of that and putting on face paint instead would get her more believable as a tiger? She wasn’t planning on entering the costume contest, but maybe she could?
