RIP Kim Jonghyun April 8th 1990 – December 18th 2017
Kim Jonghyun was not only one of the strongest vocalists in k-pop, whose voice we were lucky enough to hear for almost ten years. He was one of the most vocal and outspoken idols when it came to human rights, fighting inequality, standing up for the less fortunate, and raising awareness about mental illness. In the k-pop idol industry, where these topics are systematically hushed up and hidden away in the dark, Jonghyun was a shining light who led us only forward toward a brighter future. I hope he knew that he made the world a better place, and that millions of people will remember him with warmth in their hearts and smiles on their faces. Through the music he created and performed, he will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Even if I die, I’ll live forever
Hhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. It isn’t often that kpop makes me feel things nowadays, but EXO... Yeah. They make me feel things.
When it comes to dancing in kpop, I feel like it’s all been done, and creating something new is a challenge. But like with their songs, EXO just keep delivering choreos that are creative and fresh and full of things I haven’t seen before. Like how they transitioned into the X formation at 0:53??? They make me feel like I did five years ago, when I was new to kpop. :3
Again, like in Lucky One, I’m so impressed by the super thrilling story that’s conveyed with such minimality – just the captor revealing his face and turning out to be Baekhyun himself... It turns the whole story upside down in a hand flip. (<- oops Swedish expression)
You know one thing that really got me? Jongin and Yixing low fiving each other and then collabing as main dancers in the last chorus. Friendship! Camaraderie! Respect! After going through so much heartbreak with this group, it really warms me to see the love amongst them (even if it is choreographed). EXO will always have a most special place in my heart.

I LAUGHED SO HARD. I absolutely LOVE that the superpowers are back, like you don’t understand. But the way they were woven into the video... Sehun making the girl fall over (?) with his wind, Jongdae’s tiny little lightning bolt, Chanyeol like “lol fire in my hand”, Minseok and Junmyeon like “I’m thirsty from all this running”, Yixing making heads explode with his flower healing, not to mention Jongin’s upgrade from teleportation to sexy dancing. I couldn’t hold it in. SO FUNNY.
During the first half of the video I was so fucking impressed with what an attractive video it was. So clean and crisp and still exciting and tense. Aaaand... then the crack started. With the moon and planet and eyes and ice??? Reminded me a lot of Red Velvet’s One of These Nights. I laughed from surprise but I did like that part too!
I’m very impressed by how they managed to create such a gripping story with such simple events and actions in the video, the ending in particular. The camera zooming out to reveal the whole place is a maze (in the shape of the EXO logo)? Classic.
It’s like every time EXO make a comeback, they say “You thought you’d seen it all?? Thought we’d run out of good music???” and punch me in the face with a song that not only is awesome, but also thoroughly exudes their signature EXO sound AND STILL is so different and unique from their previous songs. Go and check the lyrics, I love them – they remind me a bit of Black Pearl.
I know I never post anymore, and it’s not because I don’t want to – it’s because I just don’t have the time. But I’m making an exception for EXO. I will always make an exception for EXO.

One of those maybe-indie-songs I really hesitated about posting on kpop releases, but then I said “screw objectivity” and posted it because this song is THAT AWESOME.
