Happy 17th anniversary to 4Minute!
Emerging during the second generation of K-pop, 4Minute became known for its confident image, energetic performances, and a musical style that blended dance-pop, hip-hop, electronic, and EDM influences.
Their debut mini-album For Muzik introduced hits such as “Hot Issue” and “Muzik,” establishing them as one of the era’s leading girl groups.
Throughout their career, 4Minute embraced a bolder and more mature concept than many of their contemporaries, with songs like “Mirror Mirror,” “Volume Up,” “What’s Your Name?,” “Is It Poppin’?,” and “Crazy” showcasing their charismatic and powerful stage presence.
The group achieved success not only in South Korea but also in Japan and other Asian markets, earning numerous awards and cultivating a large international fanbase.
While each member contributed to the group’s identity, HyunA’s popularity brought additional attention, helping cement 4Minute’s status as one of the defining acts of second-generation K-pop.
In 2016, after seven years together, the group officially disbanded when most members chose not to renew their contracts with Cube Entertainment.
Despite their relatively short career, 4Minute left a lasting impact on K-pop through their trendsetting concepts, strong female image, and influential discography, with songs like “Crazy” continuing to be celebrated as classics of the genre.
