not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
is it just me or have people really stopped writing tags under art reblogs
WE'RE ON TUMBLR! BLEED YOUR HEART OUT!
Do not forget that discord is still planning on moving forward with age verification and has only "delayed it" until "the later half of 2026." They are hoping you will forget while they quietly roll it out when no one is looking. Continue to message them about it. Continue to talk about it. Make it clear this is unacceptable. Discord is one of the only places left you can even talk about or share adult content in private at scale anymore. They will tell you "its not that bad if you dont use it for nsfw" but fuck them and fuck people who say that shit.
Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn't. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn't do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.

What’s up just a reminder that the Hula Girl stereotype can go to hell and is in part responsible for Hawai’i being the tourist destination and getting invaded by rich white people, and for Hawaiian culture being disrespected and appropriated
Here’s a few sources on the topic:
How America’s Obsession With Hula Girls Almost Wrecked Hawai’i (the site is weird but the research is legitimate, gives a good overview of the issue and references a lot of sources that are harder to get your hands on read: books)
“Pop” Goes Hawai’i: The Twentieth Century Origins of Tourism in Hawai’i and the Impact of U.S. Pop Culture on Women in the Islands of Aloha (this one is very long but a really good read)
Misperceptions of the “Hula Girl” (this one is a personal essay but it’s an entry in the University of Hawai’i’s academic newspaper)
Cool cool so its Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month so I’m gonna uh. reblog this
Also if you don’t have the time and/or energy to read through these articles lemme give you the basic breakdown (I’ll try to keep this short, but I’ll put it under the cut because it’ll probably still take up space)
Happy Pacific American Heritage Month! Reblogging this again with a bit of extra information.
...The hell are the odds of this?
i love being prevd its like getting a good grade in thoughts
thinking about that one wordless calvin and hobbes sunday strip thats just calvins dad ditching his work to go play in the snow... its going to make me cry
ohhhh my god
”#I LOVE that the comic keeps the lens on Calvin’s dad to the degree of not even showing Calvin’s excited face when his dad surprises him, #You can see the joy and excitement of the moment in his pose and reflected in his dad’s expression, #it’s a great little artistic decision, #I realized what gets me about it it’s the hat covering his dad’s head and hair so the dad just looks like Calvin. #you don’t HAVE to show Calvin! You already see him in the dad becoming a kid for a moment you only have to draw that once”
BOTW's story works a lot better than TOTK's story because of the difference in their driving questions.
For BOTW, the main question you ask from the start is "Who am I?" and also "What happened to Hyrule?" You learn the answers to these questions over time as you journey across the land and remember things about your past. The answer to "who am I" is "I am the chosen hero," and the answer to "what happened" is "We failed to save everyone." When you learn that, the goal changes from "go and do the quests because the old lady said to" to "Do what you couldn't do back then and save everyone."
In TOTK, the question is "Where the heck is Zelda?" and it's not your question, it's everyone else's. All the NPCs want to know where she is and you're just kind of standing there while everyone discusses it. And then the game throws you an early game side quest where they tell you exactly what happened to Zelda, and then you just have to putter around for 99 years and watch everyone run blindly towards Fake Zelda while you just follow them without saying anything until the final hour.
And then they force you to listen to the exact same spiel about the Imprisoning War, 4 separate times, without changing a single word. Whereas in BOTW, you get to learn about the Champions and who they were and their relationship to you, and explain the Calamity to you in one cutscene.
Plus, they don't expand on anything from BOTW in TOTK. Link and Zelda are just living perfectly fine in society despite having basically been dead for a century. And instead of expanding on the Sheika mythos, they just try and pretend they never existed and put the Zonai in their place as the Ancient Precursor Race with all the Ancient Technology That's Been Lost To Time.
So yeah, I'm a little bit disappointed in the story of TOTK. BOTW had an interesting narrative that meshed well with the open world format and was executed perfectly. TOTK just had an excuse plot with no substance.

i think of this ProZD video constantly its always so fucking funny
The truth is, I draw a lot still. An extreme amount tbh. But the majority of it will never go on here. I recognize that there's a functional difference between establishing a following as a Fandom artist and an OC artist. The truth is, as a Fandom artist, anything you draw immediately invokes death of the Author/Artist. Because the characters exist within the context of a story that's already known by the people looking at your art, they're able to establish their own feelings and reactions quickly. OCs for fandoms have the same benefits, to an extent, as they can quickly establish themselves as aligned or juxtaposed to the preexisting notions of the world. OC art divorced from a preexisting piece of media has no such benefits. Devoid of context, there are three, maybe four methods by which the viewer can establish a reaction and feeling. The quality of the art, the type of art it is, the character designs themselves, and maybe relating it to a piece of existing media, although that last one is often considered rude. The truth is, very rarely is the art I make something I, or anyone else, would consider prestigious. I draw my OCs as I want to draw them, and rarely is the art extremely high quality or concept. I don't draw comics, I find them difficult, and due to my poor attention span, I just can't. That immediately eliminates two methods that would be used to establish my OCs to the viewers of my art. Most people do not read lore dumps, and the few who do, while they do engage with them delightfully, are such slim pickings that you often end up talking quietly to the same 3 to 5 people, which I would honestly rather do in my discord servers and DMs with friends than strangers. Tumblr, for better and for worse, is one of the best websites for artists. But, you cannot break your niche easily. I started as a fandom artist. I am proud of the Revalink drawings I did. I'm proud of the Yautja drawings I did. I'm proud of the Beastars drawings I did. I likely won't do any more besides maybe that last one, and that's fine. If I post my art here, and it's not one of those three things, it will get 5 notes at maximum. I would simply rather not waste my time. And yes, who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'll get lucky one day, and I'll never see that happen unless I post it. And, posting it barely takes a couple minutes, why not try?
Well, the most popular drawings I ever did, even within fandom spaces didn't even hit the 100 mark. Granted, I was worse at art back then, but I doubt it'll change much now.
