School zones often have speed limits of 30kph (19mph) but children still sometimes get hit by cars in school zones. Plus it makes your drive take longer. Guess the speed limit isn't doing any good.

Sunscreen is supposed to help protect against sunburns and skin cancer. But it might cause itchy burning skin, acne, and even blisters. Thanks but no thanks, Coppertone, I'll take my chances.

Safety goggles are meant to protect your eyes from sparks and shrapnel, but they can cause eye strain in some people. No thanks -- I'll just close my eyes if I see something flying at my face.

Seatbelts are meant to help save lives in car accidents, but 10% of people who are hospitalized from front-impact car accidents have injuries directly caused by the seatbelt, including broken bones and bruises. That sounds like the seatbelt can make your life worse, not better. Just say no to seatbelts!

Sarcasm aside, safety precautions are rarely 100% effective and 100% free of side effects for everyone. But refusing to use them because of the exceptions is cherry-picking and confirmation bias.

The COVID-19 vaccines in use today have gone through the same rigorous trials as any vaccine has. They have been proven safe and effective to use by the high standards of the FDA. Yes, there will still be some people who have side effects from them, but these side effects are NOT RANDOM. They are correlated with factors such as age, weakened immune system, allergies to the ingredients, and underlying health issues. The vast majority of people who get vaccinated against COVID-19 have minimal-to-no side effects.

If you're concerned about the safety of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, talk to your doctor about it. They can recommend a safe choice based on your personal health history.

ADHD: Impulsivity, short attention span, poor working memory, poor planning skills, time blindness, depression when understimulated, little sense of danger, making careless mistakes, no motivation for tasks you are not interested in.

Autism: Taking things very literally, having the same routine and getting anxious if it changes, being uncomfortable with making eye contact with others, liking to carefully plan things before they happen, not understanding social “rules”, noticing small details that others do not, getting upset when someone touches you, getting very anxious about social situations.

Overlapping area: Sensory issues, hyperfixations, stimming, auditory processing disorder, talking a lot, finding it hard to make friends, emotional dysregulation, interrupting conversations, rejection sensitive, lack of object permanence, executive dysfunction, sleep problems.
