Summary: After meeting the Second-to-Last academy students, Takumi is extremely on edge. Seeing both Nozomi and Yugamu again for the first time in this loop has given him… mixed feelings, to put it lightly. But unfortunately, that’s all going to have to be pushed to the side as the group prepares for their next battle as a complete unit… against the next commander, Pakron.

So I’ve been listening to my remnant au playlists a bunch recently, and even more so I’ve been listening to BROADCAST ILLUSION BY GHOST and I’ve talked about how this song and the other song COLORBARS are extremely fitting for him, soooo…… I kinda went into the currently on fire danganronpa kitchen and cooked something for 1-2 days and spat this out :)

This is gonna be a part of my remnant au but me and Ade were talking about it and how Mukuro and Makoto would both interrogate the Remnants one on one (similar to the audio dramas in MILGRAM) and when they got to Mikan she’d just. Go on and on about Enoshima and it really sets in to Mukuro how much she fucked up these people and their lives.

This fic literally was impulsively written at like. 12:00 AM a few nights ago and in the span of that night I had written around 20 pages. Yeah it was that bad.
Soooo what was originally gonna be a one shot is now a multichapter fic of my Remnant Mitarai!
I had written about the sequence of events and changes before but things have. Kinda changed since then as I was dwelling on it and boom: fic. Why am I like this idk.
This being danganronpa it’s gonna delve into some pretty heavy topics so be sure to read the tags before you read because. I know we meme on this franchise but FUCK if it doesn’t get dark - especially despair and future arc like damn.
Hey remember that Toxic Chain!Kieran design I made a while ago. What if I told you that I did a bit of tweaking to it with some “baby’s first attempt at some body horror.

I had been getting heavily back into Pokemon as of recently since the Friendlocke is continuing with the SV DLC which introduced my absolute favorite PKMN character of all time… and it got me thinking to the design I made for my TC!Kieran AU here, and I figured it was time to give him a fresh coat of paint!
I’ve really missed this AU, and I do hope to someday write a full story for it now that I have really improved on my writing - and I probably will work on it here and there! - but I really want to focus on my other ongoing projects (those being Awake Me, Fallen Detectives, and the V3 Remnant Dub - which will definitely be back to being chugged along thanks to Danganronpa 2x2 being announced!) while also juggling college before even THINKING about starting another one so this will be on the back burner for now. But I had to get the brainworms out somehow.
Down below are a bunch of design notes, closeups, and some additional lore I made as I was rewinding on the story!

• It’s hard to see, but the underside of his cape is quilted! It’s a very bright pink that’s a pearly/luminescent - think of something like this. In this AU after Kieran “fully” succumbs to Pecharunt’s control, he’s occasionally given some sort of solace where he’s sometimes more cognizant and can think more clearly when Pecharunt is asleep. When it happens, he’d just use the cloak as a makeshift blanket, and just sob, hoping his sister and friends will help him… at least, until Pecharunt sows more doubts into his head. He doesn’t sleep that well :(
• The outer fabric of the cloak is slightly glittery! They aren’t super bright or anything, but they are there.
• The stitchery of Kieran’s jumpsuit is pink, matching the ribbon crosses on the leg part of the jumpsuit.
• Speaking of that jumpsuit, its gradient starts a very dark indigo that borders on black, and fades into a slightly brighter purple at the legs.
• It’s hard to see, but his eyes are dual colored! The outer “shell” of the iris is the same color used for the chains and accessories (pink), and the inner circle of the iris is Kieran’s actual eye color (yellow). I plan to do the same thing with other characters that will be chained by Pecharunt later on down the line.
• The chains that are shackled around his neck, wrists and ankles really dig into Kieran’s skin - not enough to cut off any circulation, but enough to leave very prominent red marks. You may notice pink liquid around his wrist and neck - and no, it isn’t danganronpa blood. It’s actually Pecharunt’s poison! There’s a small needle within each chain that pricks into Kieran’s skin that injects their poison into his blood stream to keep him under his control… but it also seems to cause some other affects to his body (see below.)

• As you can see, the poison really affects Kieran’s body physically. It almost resembles the pattern and spots that are on Pecharunt’s body when they’re seen out of their shell - across the back of his arms, back of his neck, and all over his legs.
• The pink glowing chain on his back will become a permanent mark of him after the story ends - I was really inspired by this from Juno’s older!Kieran design (please check out his work it’s phenomenal) from when the whole theory was still very fresh + when a lot of people thought Kieran being chained would be canonical. Of course since it’s not that aspect has been removed from that design but I really loved the idea of Pecharunt essentially leaving a permanent mark on those who’ve been under its influence for a long amount of time so I decided to go for it here! It wouldn’t glow after he’s freed though - it would just look like a very light pink scar.
• When fully puppeteered by Pecharunt (the same goes for others too), his eyes glow a very bright yellow, and poison marks wrap and glow around his body.
• After his breakdown post champion battle (and after he falls completely), the poison in his system has affected his body so much that his blood and tears have turned into a faint pinker hue (so I guess he does have danganronpa blood after all)
• He’s able to essentially “inject” some of that poisonous blood into others to immobilize them! You may have noticed his fingertips are an extremely dark red that borders on black and slightly covered in that poison. Well, he’s able to essentially dig his nails into his victims and essentially inject the poison into his opponents to paralyze them temporarily and allow Pecharunt to take control of them. (I also like to think the dark spots on his body may also do something similar too - he’s like a poisonous dart frog)
• I didn’t illustrate it in the reference but it’s kinda hinted in the detailed thumbnail piece above, but the poison in his body also has him emit a purple/pink hazy fog in his vicinity. It functions similar to how he injects the poison from his body, but to a less “potent” degree where it slows the victim’s cognitive thinking and behavior, and saps them of their strength to give Kieran a chance to fully paralyze them.
• I don’t know if I really illustrated it too well here, but like in canon, Kieran barely ate or slept as he grew more and more focused on victory thanks to Pecharunt’s mochi clouding his influence (since in Pecharunt’s lore, the Binding Mochi draws out the consumers greed/deepest desires, while also bounding them to Pecharunt). So I wanted to emulate that here that he had not been eating properly and had grown noticeably skinnier and more pale (which I forgot to illustrate/color oops) as the further he fell, the less time he cared for his basic needs. He almost solely relies on Pecharunt’s mochi to “keep his goal in mind,” which only caused him to slowly feel more loyal to Pecharunt. Because once he breaks down, the poison from the Binding Mochi he endlessly was offered and took would lead to his downfall.

And lastly, one final sketch! Kinda like in my original concept, I had his scrunchie become shaped like two of Pecharunt’s Toxic Chains that can form long chains that almost act as some sort of stilts where Kieran can “float” above the others out of their reach.
And for those curious, here’s a comparison to how both of the designs looked from when he was first made to now!

I’m honestly so proud of how he turned out and seeing how much I’ve improved in the past year or so,,,, Kieran has always been such a huge comfort character for me since I played the DLC for the first time and indulged in his story because of how much I can relate to him in terms of “not feeling enough and pushing oneself so far in hopes to achieve their goals” and I’m really excited to work on this AU when I do.

2 years ago on this day I made my first post about Kokobolt. It was rather silly, but it was the start of me creating for this ship that means so much to me. Kokobolt is special to me as it has helped me through many hard events in my life and I wanted to celebrate that. However I didn't just want to celebrate myself, no, this community is what makes Kokobolt so fun, so this is for all the Kokobolters! So I took it upon myself to draw EVERY SINGLE KOKOBOLT AU this fandom has! If I missed an AU, I apologise!
Note, I only included AUs that are Kokobolt based/focused, so I didn't include the Fallen Detectives as those are mainly my Kokobolt headcanons and the main AU is not Kokobolt based.
College AU: My first ever Kokobolt AU I made. I plan to write the fic soon once God AU is done. Yuma and Desuhiko being roommates and going through college together! A slowburn romance!
Soulmate AU: A lovely project where I worked with @kazinsblog to bring it to life! Yuma and Desuhiko being soulmates whose worlds explode with colour when they meet eyes for the first time.
Swap AU: A fun AU where Desuhiko has amnesia and Yuma is the disguise detective, created by @rindragon-from-twewy for ship week last year! I really am enjoying the fic and look forward to when Yuma enters the story!
Vtuber AU: A story that came to be from one comment me and @kazinsblog exchanged. It is equal parts mine and Kazin's work and it was honestly a joy to write and work alongside Kazin with!
Crime Lord x Subordinate AU: I will admit, this wouldn't exist if it wasn't for @geodraws04 Fallen Detective AU, but this is my own villain Yuma AU! I look forward to sharing more of this AU in the future! Toxic Yaoi that slowly turns into something more. Desuhiko really didn't know what he got into when he needed money.
Shinigami Desuhiko AU: Created by the wonderful @ithinkrobotsarecool where Desuhiko and Shinigami switch roles! Desuhiko is the superstar death god!
Werewolf X Reaper AU: My AU I created thanks to wanting to draw something for Halloween, it is my child and I love writing for Hallows and Howls and these 2 goofballs! Reaper Yuma is also the best clothes design I've ever done! I have so many ideas for this AU and look forward to sharing them all.
Mermaid AU: Drawn for Yuma month/Mermay, this AU while doesn't have much lore is still fun! Mimic octopus Desuhiko is just fun to imagine and mermaid Yuma is fun to brainstorm for!
Zombie Yuma AU: When @rainbow-journalist first shared this AU, I knew I wanted to draw for it! I adore this AU and it's lore and I hope you like this gift! I gave Desuhiko eyebags to show the stress he's been under trying to find Yuma for 9 years and bring him back!
Little Mermaid/Siren Yuma AU: I am loving this AU @rindragon-from-twewy created so much! It's so interesting and I really want to know what happens! Will Siren Yuma and Prince Desuhiko reunite? Yuma was a joy to draw so thank you for the reference!
Shapeshifter AU: Another ship week AU, @draconicsparkle wrote this fic and I loved it so much they wrote part 2 as a birthday present to me. Draconic did amazing writing Kokobolt and I love this AU and the gift for me so much! I had so much fun drawing raccoon Desuhiko! He took some artistic liberties!
Vampire AU: I was in the chat when @sobredunia created this AU and I adore the story! Desuhiko feeds off Yuma out of necessity before the two actually get close. Yuma is doing his best to feed his friend (or maybe they’re actually more, it’s just neither of them can admit the truth).
Pirate AU: @artistry4ce created this AU and it's adorable! I love the designs for Yuma and Desuhiko and did my best to draw them! Desuhiko is ready to show his new crew-mate how it's done!
God AU: The fact this AU will be finished soon makes me sad, but it's been a fun ride. Writing Yuma and Desuhiko being in love over centuries has been so fun! @ithinkrobotsarecool also helped so much with designing Yuma and Desuhiko for this AU and I will always be grateful for that! I thank everyone who's listened to me rambling about this AU of mine.
Peacekeeper Yuma AU: NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH FALLEN DETECTIVE AU! This is my AU where Yuma is a double agent. Yomi thinks he's manipulating Yuma but he is still working for the WDO and helping out the NDA. You can tell them apart as FD Yuma has trousers while mine has shorts. Created during Yuma month, this AU is technically not a Kokobolt AU, but I didn't want to leave out my only other AU when I drew for every other one!
String worms: Just a silly extra art I did to reference the art I did for RainCode's 1st anniversary. Desuhiko has his little worm clothes!

I actually had remnant designs for Mitarai, Nanami, AND Hajime (like. An AU where he’s not Izuru but still a part of the Remnants; very much like the AU by FireJiuu on Insta/TikTok!), but never had colored them yet but i really wanted to draw the whole Dr2 cast together in their remnant attire so i decided to say fuck it and illustrate them like the Dr3 Poster (including Chiaki since she’s not in the full cast one for… reasons.)
im actually pretty satisfied with how it turned out, despite it being in a “sketch” stage.
will i finish it? I dunno. But will i share what i made of it? absolutely.

Ill fully admit i STRUUUUGGGLLLEEDD drawing the characters free hand and on my on - anatomy is not my strong-suit sometimes, so i traced over each character to get their body shapes correct (not fully tracing them ofc, just making a base for myself like seen above!), then skecthed over the lineart over the base i created.

(I may redesign Chiaki and Hajime at some point? Chiaki def feels like she’s ready for a fresh coat of paint and I while I like Hajime’s design I feel like I wanna separate it from the Reserve Course uniform/it feels a little bit too similar to Fire’s? I’ll see where it goes I’m stuck in college so it might be a while before I act out on anything design wise. Mitarai is fine though he’s perfect the way he is - smile)

Summary: It's now Day 5 and Takumi is trying to get his life back to normal (or as normal it can be during a war) and focus on what lies ahead. No more looking back. But that is easier said than done. While the days are awkward, the realm of sleep is it's own challenge. How will Takumi deal with life, as well as the first defensive battle coming up?
