a/n: And childe continues haunting me. I used Ajax since it’s Childe’s real name I hope it isn’t too confusing. I had a biology assignment to create a miniature(?) structure of a virus in 10/11th grade. That was the only biology assignment I remember so I’m using that lol.
Why do we live just to suffer?
You could only watch in horror as the teacher reveals the group for your biology mid term assignments. You felt as if all your will to live suddenly had just flown out of your body.
Childe looks like he’s enjoying himself though. Maybe it’s because he’s getting a guaranteed A or maybe because this gives him the chance to mess with you. Who knows?
Childe, Ajax, Tartaglia whatever his name was. He was your —and every other proper students’— worst nightmare. Hell, it would be better if he’d shut up and do nothing but he has a reputation of messing up group works. And to be paired with him for your midterms, your grades were surely going down the rabbit hole.
He’s quick to move to your side when the teacher instructs for you to sit with your partners. Seemingly way too eager than he usually is for school. It was even a miracle he didn’t skip class that day, as if he knew this was going to happen.
Childe puts his arm on the table, hand supporting his chin as he leans forward, facing your unamused face “So, what are we doing, partner?”. You swear you want to punch that chuckle off his face.
You sighed, attempting to ignore him while taking further notes of the teacher’s instructions. “You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, just don’t mess things up.” You tried to sound as docile as possible, not wanting to fight on your first day of group assignment.
“Don’t be like that, we’re partners aren’t we?” He has the audacity to pout like an abandoned puppy you’d find on the street. “I really wouldn’t like having to tell the teacher you can’t work with me.” He added, as if to purposely taunt you.
If looks could kill your notebook would be covered in daggers at this point. “Fine. We are meeting at 4.” You wrote your address down in a small piece of paper before handing it to him. Stopping your conversation at that you pick up your own notes after, implying you didn’t want to talk to him any further.
“Are we gonna fight?” He laughed as if that was the most obvious thing to ask and you had to surpass the urge to —once again— punch him.
“Just bring some cardboards and glue.” You sighed, taking a deep breath as to not let your emotions win and brushed off his laughter.

“(Y/n)~” That was the 5th time Childe —or Ajax— had called your name for the past hour. You were trying to concentrate on creating the structure in front of you, trying not to let him anger you or else you might accidentally smash everything into pieces.
You were surprised when he actually showed up in front of your house on time, with a few lunch boxes he said he cooked himself. You weren’t expecting him to show up at all, and cooking is certainly not something you expect a delinquent like him to be good at. That gave you a tiny hope that maybe he’s willing to help you on the project.
Well, you thought wrong as the only thing he has been doing for the past 2 hours was testing your patience.
“Yes, Ajax.” You finally answer through gritted teeth, spelling his real name slowly as if to threaten him. This man was, like his nickname, a child.
“Take a small break, will you? It’s been 2 hours” he sighed, leaning back on the sofa as he ate the dessert —your favorite— he had brought earlier. He —tried to— looked tired as if he was the one who had been doing the work for the past hour.
“We only have a week to do this, and it’s a one man team.” You roll your eyes as the last sentence escapes your lips. Your hands were busy trying to cut out the cardboards scattered on the floor.
“It’s still a week away. Besides, I didn’t purposely group up with you to watch you do boring work.” Childe chuckled, seemingly to enjoy looking at you struggling to cut the material.
“You didn’t what—“
“Whoops~” He shoves a spoonful of cake into your mouth cutting you mid sentence.
“Ajax..” you glared at him, trying to slip his name out through the mouthful of cake.
He laughed, he couldn’t help it. Your attempt to glare and puffed out cheeks didn’t made you look way harmless than you usually are. Ha was having way too much fun ‘working’ with you, “You look like a chipmunk.”
“Ouch—“ you hit his arm with a piece of cardboard attempting to hold your angry expression. As annoying as he was it was difficult to be angry when he had just fed you your favorite cake.
“Fine, fine! I’ll help.” He’s still laughing as if the cardboard attacks didn’t hurt him at all.
You squinted your eyes, doubting him. “We’ll see about that.” You threw him the pieces you had marked, gesturing for him to cut them, “They better be done in an hour” You mumble, sitting back next to him to work on the next pieces, “or I’ll use them to hit you again.”
“Pfftt— not like they hurt.”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing.”
It was half past seven when you finished your work for the day. Surprisingly, Childe had done his job. The cuts were a little rough around the edges but it’s doable.
“Wow, this is.. surprisingly decent.” You said, examining the pieces he had done.
“What did I tell you?” He replied, seemingly smug to have received a compliment from you.
“Don’t get cocky, it’s still not done …but I guess we can relax for the day. I’ll heat up the stuffs you brought in the microwave.” You got up, attempting to make your way towards the kitchen alone, but of course, as expected, you have a grown man tailing behind you.
“I’ll help.” He grinned, not waiting for your agreement before dashing out to the kitchen.
You sighed for the tenth time that day as you follow him. The corner of your eyes caught the figure excitedly jumping off your stairs, you smile, maybe his antics were a little amusing, and maybe, spending time with him wouldn’t be too bad.

It was when you two had gotten close that he notices just how small and fragile you are, his protective tendencies immediately shot up a hundred times.
Loves cradling you in his arms, you fit perfectly on his lap as he protects you from whatever evil the world might hold.
Personally, Xiao thinks it’s convenient since it’s easier for him to drag and carry you out of trouble if needed.
Again, perfect height for forehead kisses. He’s a little less affectionate than albedo but he does like sneaking one or two when you both are snuggling or watching the night view from wangshu inn together.

You’ll never hear the end of it. Never. He makes fun of you whenever he can. Purposely crouching down when talking to you, intending to annoy you.
He’s not even that much taller than you yet he acts like he’s 10 feet tall or something. Even though those shoes of his make up like half of his height.
He’s sooo delighted that he has someone shorter than him. That means he can bring you up whenever the other harbingers make fun of him.
The fastest way to shut him up is by kicking his leg. Just kiss him if he gets angry.
Speaking of kissing, he grows smug whenever he has to lean down to kiss you, sometimes teasing by having you stand on your tip toes (most of the time he’s also standing in his toes lol)

He swears, he isn’t purposely trying to poke fun at you. He’a tall himself and he’s worked against the abyss for hundreds of years. Their average body tend to be bigger than a human’s. He isn’t doing it on purpose when he misses your petite presence when you’re only right in front of him.
He doesn’t say much about it, although sometimes the word ‘cute’ runs through his mind when he’s talking to you.
He knows you’re strong enough to defend yourself but he can’t help but be protective of you. He doesn’t word it out but you notice from the way he always use himself as if he was a human shield around you whenever trouble arises.
Like Zhongli, Dainsleif is a little dense. He won’t notice you unable to reach something until you ask for his help. That or he just has no idea what to do without possibly offending you.
Will carry you on his back if you ask, you are so tiny it won’t be much weight to him at all. I think you can even sit on his shoulder (like is it just me or those are wide)

Albedo’s kisses are soft, you’ll feel his lips move slightly against your as he tugs a hair-strand behind your ear. They’re not necessarily long but short enough to make you want more. He’s gentle, seeming to be naturally poised in everything he does. Sometimes you’re confused as to how he can always gracefully sweep you off your feet to kiss you. He finds kisses on the lips very intimate and would often prefer settling for your forehead. Although if he ever finds you asking or urging to kiss his lips he’ll turn a bit smug. He’s not necessarily a tease but you’ll find him pointing out things that’d make you embarrassed on purpose.
Childe’s kisses are carefree, a little clumsy, and a little wild at times. You might think he seems skillful but he actually doesn’t have much experience with romance. You might feel him grin or laugh through the kiss. He would light up every time he catches you from the corner of his eye something inside him always yearning for your attention. Prompt #16: “Why are you tied in Christmas lights?”
Pairing: Childe x Reader (Romantic)
Note: in case anyone didn’t know, Childe has an older sister, an older brother, and two younger siblings (Tonia and Teucer) which I will feature in this story. (I might have remembered wrong though please do tell me if I made a mistake)
“Why are you tied in Christmas lights?” Is your first words upon waking up that very morning. Childe had dragged you to spend Christmas at his place in Snezhnaya. However, you did not expect waking up to the boy being covered by blinking lights.
“Good morning, (y/n).” You heard his mother greet you. What baffled you more is how his entire family acted like this was completely normal. With his older siblings gathered around the table and, Teucer and Tonia running around, flapping Christmas decorations in hand.
“Did you have a nice sleep?” You heard him ask as if he wasn’t lying flat on the ground whilst his younger siblings cover him in more decorations. “Uh, yeah. Looks like yours was good too.” Your reply earned a chuckle from him.
“He wanted to get the decorations ready for you.” his older sister teased whilst pouring an extra glass of hot milk for you, beckoning you to join them on the table. “Leave him be.”
“Teucer wanted me to put up the lights.” Childe nervously laughed. “Big brother Ajax tripped and now we’re decorating him!” Teucer’s enthusiastically added, jumping up and down as he takes your hand “Let’s decorate big brother.”
“You and Tonia go ahead and have fun doing that.” You giggled, scooting down to their height. Both siblings pouted at your rejection, “But you have go play with us outside later.” “Sure, sure.”
“And good morning to you too. Make sure to get yourself out of that before eve.” You leaned down ruffling Childe’s hair. He chuckled again, his usual confident smirk plastered on his features.
“Are they going to kiss?” You hear Tonia whisper, “Eeww” Teucer’s reply was a bit too loud in comparison to his sister’s voice.
“A kiss would be nice”
“No.” You blurted out, suddenly self conscious on the five pairs of eyes staring at you.

Hello, it's been a long time since I've been here, I must say. I just wanted to drop by and mention that there's a game called A3! that is a mobile visual novel of sorts that is about found family and acting, to dumb it down at least. The English version is no longer being updated but the Japanese version is still up and running. (Also, it's called an otome and there's some playful romance here and there, but it's not really an otome cause there's no true routes or anything. It's mostly about growing relationships.)

Prompt #13 : “Why is my picture on top of a tree?”
Pairing : Albedo x gn! Reader

You hung the silver globe on the side of the tree, slowly humming to the light sounds of the children’s carol. Your eyes gazed at the christmas lights reflected on the round glass. Smiling in delight, you takes three steps back admiring results of the work you’ve put yourself into all evening. The pine tree standing tall in the middle of the room, colorful ornaments decorated it from head to toe, along with colorful lights contrasting to its’ natural green.
You would be a lot less enthusiastic for christmas is it wasn’t for your lover who’d promised to spend Christmas in Monstadt, instead of in his usual lab in dragonspine. Since he had ‘an urgent mission’ from Grandmaster Jean, you were left alone with the preparations for christmas eve. Not that you dislike it, since this way you’d be able to give him a small surprise.
You smiled at the thought, eyeing the house you’ve decorated since morning. Everything looks in place, except— Your eyes landed on the highest point of the pine pine tree, it’s empty, it seemed lonely without the star that’s supposed to adorn it.
“Where did I put it…?” You mumbled, going through boxes of christmas ornaments. How could you forget the most important thing? The christmas tree is never complete without the star on top. Running back to your room, you carefully retraced your steps. You searched under the bed, under the couch, inside the closet. Might you have brought it to the bathroom by accident?
After 30 minutes of looking to no avail, you sighed, throwing yourself on the couch in defeat. Lazily eyeing the table by your couch, you hastily opened its’ drawer, expecting to find yet another empty one. That was when your eyes landed on the piece of picture. The smile on his features made him seem almost eternal, surrounded by the ice and snow of dragonspine. Teal eyes looking back at you, as the canvas that stood there then peeked from the corner of the frame. Mesmerized by the picture, sudden idea hit you.
You carefully climbed down the chair you were standing on, satisfied with the results of your sudden brainstorm, and just in time too. You heard a click at your door just as your feet hit the floor.
“I’m back.” It was followed by a familiar voice. You quickly set aside the chair and greeted him.
“Well, you’re home early.” You meant to sound sarcastic but a smile made it to your face nonetheless.
“It took longer than expected. I should apologize but it seems like you had your fun while I was away.” He let out a small chuckle as he hangs his coat, eyeing the house that seemed like it was decorated for no less than a big Christmas party.
“Well, you shouldn’t be the one complaining.” Your initial shrug turned into a giggle as he leans in to plant a chaste kiss on your forehead.
Before he could pull back, you managed to brush your lips against his and you feel them turn into a smile. “Missed.” You mumbled, trying to hold yourself from grinning.
“Well, you sound excited.” He said, a light smile still gracing his features. He rarely smiles so much, and due to that some of his colleagues would even find him difficult to approach. But with you, even he notices the way his lips curl, you always amuse him.
“Well, Mr. Chief Alchemist, it’s a little difficult not to be when someone’s spending their time with you.” You attempted to tease him, playfully going along with his banter.
“Is that why my picture is on top of a tree?” You could feel the pang of embarrassment as he folded his arms, patiently waiting for your answer.
“I lost the star.” You replied.
“And I was supposed to replace your star? Interesting, is this something people do nowadays?” He stares up at the sole picture on the tree top, seemingly studying it.
“Uh, yeah? I mean technically you are one?” You almost bit your tongue upon realizing how the words that left your lips sounded like.
“So you put pictures of your lover on the tree because you find them to be the equivalent of stars?” His brows slightly raised, implying that he understood. Well, he didn’t, at least you thought he didn’t but some things are better left unsaid.
“Let’s leave it at that…” You mumbled, following his steps so you were beside him.
You heard a sudden chuckle as he pulls you in, lightly kissing your temple. Your eyes landed on the star shaped mark on his neck and you couldn’t surpass the urge to touch it, slowly tracing your finger over it. You heard his breath hitch as he feels your skin against his. He says it’s a symbol of his imperfection but it’s oddly one of your favorite parts of him.
“Maybe I should put you on the tree instead.” You joked almost mindlessly.
“Do you think the force of the tree will be able to stand mine? Taking into account the size of the tree and gravity it seems to be almost impossible.” He said, seeming to actually take the idea into account “and I suppose I’d rather be elsewhere.” He took your hand, making your heart flutter.
“Well, Merry Christmas to you.” You said, trying to mask your bashfulness. He smiles, amused by your reaction, as the soft words left his lips. “Merry Christmas to you too, love.”
You might or might not see your pictures on a Christmas tree next year but nonetheless you wouldn’t refuse another chance to spend christmas with Albedo.
