queue this post when it’s your birthday and be surprise
I took the smallest, shittiest picture of a frog at the nature preserve last week and just looking at it has me in tears of laughter. Just another pea in the pea soup...

Give all the stolen treasures back, thief
9/11 is coming up - and with it, a sharp spike of anxiety that always accompanies the anniversary. each year our community deals with attacks, threats, even deaths. each anniversary i don’t leave my house. i don’t go to the masjid.
i remember the time someone shot up the side of our mosque when we were inside
i remember the time someone chased two young hijabis with a taser
i remember the time someone intentionally swerved towards me when i was crossing the street and i stood frozen in fear
i remember the time someone slipped a knife threat into my mailbox
or the times my friends and i have been verbally and physically assaulted in crowded public spaces and nobody said a word
call out racism and islamophobia when you see it. check in on your muslim neighbors and friends. refuse to tolerate the bigotry and hate that takes lives and spreads fear - both in public and online. stand united with us against hate.
context:
The jab could be used on a mass scale next year with the aim of ending deaths from the disease.
The more I learn about judaism the more I wonder where tf christianity got all its bad shit. Why is divorce a sin in christianity when judaism has recognized the right to divorce for nearly a millennia and has codified religious laws for it. Why does christianity consider sex to be dirty (to the point where puritans considered it a sin to enjoy having sex with your own spouse) when in judaism it's considered holy and it's a literal mitzvah to have sex with your spouse on the sabbath. Why does christianity consider it a sign that you're faithless if you question your religion when in judaism that's considered an essential part to developing your faith. I'm probably stating the obvious here but I still can't get over the fact that there's no historical basis to any of this shit before christianity started, it's like christians just said "hey guys what if we took the torah and built a new religion around it but this time it was actively hostile to human life"
i wish all working class brits a very riot when your government tries to spend a billion dollars on that bitch’s funeral while your cost of living skyrockets, and i wish all non brits a very support working class brits while their country catches on fire

i hate how common it is for white people to have this weird admiration of japan like going to regular usamerican malls there's a really bizarre amount of weeb catering. it's all about this fetishistic cultural consumption thing but if you really want to be regular about it we can go to the asian market together and buy seaweed cookies and you may say "that's weird eww" but you have to learn about regular people and real experiences beyond buying a hot topic t-shirt that says "ミルク" with a cartoon strawberry milk carton on it
I kinda of noticed something really specific it’s this too. In my state there’s areas where there’s Japanese specific outlet (ramen, anime book store, Daiso, etc) and I see so many young people dress up in Japanese esque school uniforms, stockings, cat ears and things sort of akin that nature somewhat even to this day. I see a bit of this around the Korean outlet area around Hmart and surrounding Korean stores as well, but not around south eastern Asian stores or areas.
Idk, I feel like I’m looking into this too much considering I see similar stuff at the mall around stuff that specialize it like stores like Dot Dot bang. But when Op said that people say “ew” with seaweed snacks (because that’s similar to how I felt eating asian food growing up in America where my lunch food was “stinky” or whatever) but will lowkey fetishize aspects of Korean and Japanese culture due to the extent of how consumable they are, and make efforts to understand and appreciate things in proportion to their culture seemingly being considered ‘respectful’ enough as a whole for their own personal enjoyment.
It’s not only the western perspective that is responsible for this because yeah, Japan make purposeful and deliberate strides to try and change its image from a country that committed large scale war efforts to imperialize the western pacific area. South korea specifically is placing a lot of focus as a government and society to invest in cultural expansion around the globe as well (in a lot of different ways like Korean food, kpop, Kdramas, manhwa etc.) And areas of merch and products of those of larger scale issues (otaku culture in Japan or strict beauty standards from rapid industrialization and capitalizism in S.Korea) and efforts of those country appealing to younger people who feel alienated by the media and society at large of the western world.
I recommend giving this article a read for a more in-depth opinion as to this modern cultural phenomenon with younger queer people directed focus in mind.
The question should really be—why do white queers love the dissociative images of themselves that pseudo-Japan mirrors back to them so much?
https://www.alicesparklykat.com/articles/109/Why_White_Queers_Love_%22Japan%22/
The reason why I think this is pretty apparent is because I remember a while back a half or year or so ago I heard a white liberal tumblr user in the tag of a post I saw then complaining how they were tired of being “screamed at” asian people wanting others to support the stop asian hate movements and to “let them watch their anime in peace” because they where stressed out a lot. Hm.
I don’t know, it sounds like people support the work and effort of Asian people, but actually trying to ensure they understand and connect with them as people and their cultural specific issues (regardless if they are East, Southeastern,South,Central asian or Pacific Islanders) seems a bit more as a second priority when it comes down to it.
The pushback against smoking is certainly good for society but a lot of y'all who claim to be progressive and compassionate vis a vis substance abuse have an unfortunate tendency to be real assholes about it.
Like, if you're coming at the problem with the assumption that quitting smoking is something you can "just do" and the problem is that smokers are just choosing not to, you have already lost the plot before you began.
Probably the thing that most changed my attitude towards smokers was the sentence, "A cigarette is cheaper than a meal" combined with the knowledge that smoking is an appetite suppressant. Add in the fact that it can also work as a non-prescription anxiety treatment and, well. Suffice to say, I'm a lot more focused on making sure that people have everything else they need in life before I start in on whether they want help quitting nicotine.
everyone stop scrolling for a second and take a hand snail break i cannot express the amount of joy it brings

BE NICE HAVE FUN
how did so many people think coraline was a tim burton film. you can tell it isnt a tim burton film cause it has three black people in it
if any of you look in the notes you should consider checking out wendell & wild co-written by henry selick (writer & director of coraline, along w director of nightmare before christmas which is usually the cause of coraline being mistaken for a burton film) and jordan peele (jordan peele) when it comes out at the end of october
