Why not go to the other explorers? Ask what got them into things?
*Eri knocks gingerly on team snakemouths door*
Yo, wassup?
(There is a Kabbu blog @number1greenrangerfan but it’s not very active
We thought we took today off-
You did- uhm- could i come in..? I'd like.. some advice
Oh, sure.
*She pulls the door open wider and steps back*
What’s buggin’ hav
We were making tea, feel free to have some.
Oh! Hello, it is nice to see you!
Hi Kabbu- and- yes please.. *Eri walks in and sits on the floor by the door, fiddling with her hands* I wanted to ask you guys- what made you want to be an explorer..? did you try something else first..?
Oh, that’s easy for me.
*She hops up onto a cushion.*
A big part of it was wanting to get away from the Hive. It was home, yeah, but I…I didn’t get along with most of the others. I overheard the guards talking about an exploration team that had helped set up the Golden Settlement power station, and i thought ‘wow, that sounds so cool.’
When I started talking to the other bees about it, that sort of isolation ended up getting worse. Worse still was when my sister would basically stomp on the idea. Eventually I hit a breaking point, swore at like half the hive, including Queen Bianca, and just…left.
We…
(Leif sits next to Vi)
We never wanted to be an explorer ourself, our wife was… very insistent about it however. More insistent that Vi. Naturally we chose to go with her- our… story doesn’t have much more depth than that.
(Kabbu sits next to Eri on the floor)
For me, it was so that I could help people. I have been the unfortunate victim many times, and there have always been people there to help me stand back up. I wanted to extend such an offer to anyone I could, to give back even half of the kindness I was offered by the world. That along with a promise I made with friends years ago solidified my resolve to become an explorer quite quickly.
*Eri listened quietly and nodded, sitting with her knees up to their chest and folding their arms over them*
Wow….
*they sighed and smiled softly*
I’ve been… thinking… I’m not a very good explorer. Not like you guys- and not like Gen…. And.. I never really had much reason than wanting to help bugs when I joined the association… I was hoping that maybe hearing your stories would give me another reason.. but.. I’m not trapped… and I can’t help bugs very well…
*Eri sighed and hid their face in their arms, antennae drooping*
I think I’m gonna leave the association… for a bit anyways…. I don’t think I know why I really joined anymore…. And.. I don’t know if I should be taking up the space anymore either…
…maybe you can’t help bugs as an explorer. Sure. But you can still help.
Look at Amber. Shes not an explorer, she doesn’t fight off monsters or make big speeches to rally soldiers, but she’s still one of the most important bugs around.
And there’s still so much you can do to help, outside of being an explorer. You don’t have to be out defending caravans or slaying Dead Landers to be helpful. There’s always stuff you can do, even if it seems small, to help people.
*Vi sighs, leaning against the ant.* I get it, I do. You’ve been something for a long time but it doesn’t feel right anymore. But at the same time, it’s so so scary to try something different. I can tell, though, that you’ve got it in you to try something else. And, Eri?
*Vi hugs Eri.* Explorer or not, you’re still our friend. You’ll always have a place beside us, no matter what.
*Eri squeezes Vi tightly and sighs*
Thank you Vi… that means a lot to me… I think maybe I do need to try something else for a bit.. see if it works better for me.. Gen isn’t happy about it, I think she feels like I’m abandoning her…. It’s not like I want to stop being an explorer I just.. I just need a break to try something else… maybe it’ll help, yeah?
*they smile and sit up a bit taller*
I could try something like amber? Or I could try to help bugs in need by giving them resources or- maybe I could try to take care of bugs that are hurt or I could help Isau- or-
*they’re getting more excited as they go*
