Cool Stuff in New Orleans - Musical Legends Park
The heartbeat of New Orleans is its music. Celebrating this heritage is Musical Legends Park, a small public space in the heart of the French Quarter. The cozy courtyard features life-sized bronze statues of some of the Big Easy's musical greats, including Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Fats Domino, Chris Owens, Ronnie Cole, Louis Prima, Allen Toussaint, and Irma Thomas. There's also a "wishing fountain" in the center of the park that supports New Orleans music education - the money collected from the fountain is used to buy band equipment for a local elementary school.
You'll find free live jazz performances in the park daily, starting at 10 am and going until closing time. The park is also home to a Cafe Beignet, allowing you to enjoy a late night dose of powdered sugar goodness as you're enjoying the music.
Musical Legends Park is open from 8 am - 10 pm Thursday - Monday, and is located directly across Bourbon Street from the Royal Sonesta - host hotel for Miss Fisher Con 2024!

2 -Â Â Is it any surprise that Flat Phryne would find the jazz men in New Orleans? She made her way to Preservation Hall to enjoy the music, and was delighted to learn more about Louis Armstrong, even seeing his first cornet, the one given to him by a Jewish family in the quarter that took him under their wing when he was a child. Of course Flat Phryne stopped to pay her respects to Marie Laveau. She was especially delighted to meet a gentleman whose granddaughter is a direct descendant of New Orleansâ legendary âVoodoo Queen.â No surprise, Flat Phryne Loved her stay in the Big Easy, and was sad that it was so short. Oh well, I guess sheâll just have to come back again!Where will Flat Phryne turn up next? Stay tuned!

1 - Flat Phryneâs adventures on the way to St. Paul continue! This week, sheâs in New Orleans! She visited a few spots in the Garden District first, including this seemingly quiet white house that reportedly holds no less than 17 ghosts! Then she popped over to the Commanderâs Palace restaurant before making her way into the French Quarter. She was absolutely dazzled by what she saw in the Quarter. She made a stop at St. Louis Cathedral (Dot would approved, though Phryne of course still fully intends to keep on sinning), and did some shopping (and sampling) for Mr. B.

Flat Phryne Adventures
Flat Phryneâs adventures on the way to Miss Fisher Con in St. Paul continue!
This week, a layover in her itinerary let her crash for a bit at a memberâs home.
While meeting some of the feathered residents, she suggested chicken fricassee for dinner. Rex was not amused.
Then she and her hosts came across a cabin in the woods that reminded her of her time with Victor Freeman. Sadly, Wom was nowhere to be found.Â
But exploring Turnerâs Creek brought her face to face with plenty of the other wildlife in the area.
She ended her visit with a drink and chat by the fire, before taking to the skies en route to her next adventure.
