Content creation workshop in Neath today.

We're excited to be running a session on Content Creation tomorrow, so excited, that we've gone and written a whole new session. The session is designed to be very practical and hands-on and even includes some pretty cool activity sheets we've made to help guide our participants note-taking. Now you want to come, don't you?! 

Last week the GEECS team were busy with DS8, the 8th Annual Digital Storytelling Festival which took place on 14/6/13 at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff. As ever, it was a great event with interesting and insightful speakers and the usual warm community atmosphere. Historypin is a free website that allows anyone to ‘pin’ their old photos to a map of the world. It is extrodinarily engaging, and really helps demonstrate how relevant and interesting the web can be for people who are not yet going online. 

DigEm is an innovative digital empowering project that uses a creative approach to teaching ICT skills and provides an effective entry route for learners disengaged with the learning process, or not confident with new technologies. DigEm develops communication skills by using creative tools/media techniques, focused on people's own lives, through story-telling, photography, music, video and narrative.

This paper on Communication for Social Change is an interesting read for anyone working around behaviour change, be it digital inclusion, environmentalism or smoking cessation, great communication is essential to persuading people to change and this paper provides interesting insights into ways to measure impacts.
