“I feel like that’s not gonna last forever, ya know,” she replied, sitting next to him with a sigh.

“I wouldn’t call what I’m seeing anything close to adulting Rubes… but who am I to say anything? We both know adulting isn’t exactly my strong point.”

“I mean...it’s not exactly mine either, so you’re asking the wrong kid about that.”

"You'll have to ask Oz."

“Really? That simple?”

He shook his head, offering the girl a smile. James knew she’d had the best of intentions when she came to see him, sneaking a sugary treat inside with her. Honestly, though he did feel uncomfortable being so vulnerable in front of her, he was touched by the gesture. “You’re a wonderful girl, Miss Rose. And very kind. I’m glad you came to see me.”

“I...well--”

She said nothing to this, looking down in thought with her hands rubbing nervously in front of her. A...wonderful girl...

“I don’t feel like it at times,” she admitted with a small chuckle, the smile weak but it soon faded as memories came to her.

“I don’t know what to do and it eels like I can’t...help. And I’ve already made so many mistakes, it’s hard to keep going sometimes. Ozpin made me the leader of my team, but...I never feel like I make the right choice. I’m not...that great, and I have a long way to go. Especially now with...all of this,” she admitted, gesturing to herself, then to Ironwood before he hands fell back to her sides once more.

I know I said I'd get to things but today is a touchy day for me due to it being Mother's Day and I don't want to ruin the fun
