One thing books taught me:
People can be the hero of their own story and still be completely wrong.
A lot of people say they want honesty.
What they actually want is honesty that agrees with them
Why is it that when you're looking for something, you can never find it...
but the second you stop looking for it, it appears in the most obvious place possible?
I swear some objects enjoy watching us suffer
If you can instantly erase one fictional death from existence.
Who are you bringing back?

Some characters are written to be liked. Some are written to be understood. The second group is usually more interesting.
— Game of Thrones, 5.07 "The Gift"
And so, the woman dies. The woman dies so the man can be sad about it. The woman dies so the man can suffer. She dies to give him a destiny. Dies so he can fall to the dark side. Dies so he can lament her death. As he stands there, brimming with grief, brimming with life, the woman lies there in silence. The woman dies for him. - The Woman Dies by Aoko Matsuda
One of my favorite things in fiction is when two characters are technically having one conversation...
but emotionally they're having a completely different one.
Game of Thrones really spoiled me.
Now every time I see a huge fictional family, I immediately start expecting betrayals.

I love when a story trusts the reader enough not to explain everything immediately.
Give me mysteries.
Give me questions.
Give me that moment where I have no idea what's happening but I NEED to know.
A character doesn't become interesting because they're powerful.
They become interesting because they can lose something.
What is one book trope you'll defend no matter how many people complain about it?
I'll start:
Friends to lovers.
Every single time

get up, get up ser!
Some writers are so afraid of slowing the story down that they accidentally skip the moments readers were waiting for.
Sometimes the conversation after the fight matters more than the fight.
