             WHERE THE HELL HAS EZRA BEEN? A CALL OUT POST FOR, WELL, ME!

      so i know i’ve been missing for a QUICK MINUTE now, so i figure i owe you guys some explanation. recently, i’ve gotten surgery for my tonsils and my nose, which left me pretty shitty for just about two and a half weeks. on top of that, i’m a sophomore in college and BOY HOWDY, IS IT STRESSFUL WHEN ALL OF YOUR PROFESSORS SCHEDULE MIDTERMS AT THE SAME TIME!! 

    the fresh kids out of the city tug at his heart strings;  crash knows,  because she  was  one once.  scared and alone and unable to walk,  ready to succumb to heat stroke and dehydration when he shadow stretched across the sand and he took her in.

     before she set out on her own and found the ravers,  and after them the sentinels.  kobra was the one who found her injured in the sand,  left for dead once the dracs were finished with her.

    ‘ between all the djs on air and people like you watching the zones for rookies,  we’re all doing all we can.  it’s not  ideal  but it’s what we got.  we’re fighting for a good cause,  kobra,  but we can’t help everyone.  you gotta stay focused on the  end goal,  to make sure someday these kids don’t have to face the reality that is life out here in the zones. ’

      she hates herself for even saying it,  for even  suggesting  that they  shouldn’t  let guilt eat them alive for every life they can’t save,  each kid fleeing the city that never makes a life for themself in the desert.  but deep down she knows it’s true – they couldn’t save everyone,  no matter how hard they tried.  

      and she knew she was doing her part – there wasn’t much a crippled ‘joy could do out here besides talk,  and she’d carved a nice niche of listeners for herself.  turns out lots of younger killjoys needed a maternal voice in their lives that crash could provide.

      ‘ think about all the lives you’ve saved,  rather than those you’ve lost.  like mine.  those kids all became fighters and survivors thanks to you. that means something,  too. ’

      ' but just think about how many people wouldn’t be at risk of losing their lives because of ME, because of what the FOUR AND I are doing. kids wouldn’t be dyin’ t’get out into the zones. i know i’m not the one hurtin’ them, and i’m not the one out there HUNTIN’ ‘EM DOWN. doesn’t mean i don’t feel RESPONSIBLE for what happens t’those kids. ’

       kobra takes a step closer, rests his hand on her shoulder. she’s right, in the end, and he knows it. crash has always been the BRIGHTER of the two and she always seemed to know just what to say to make things better. it was something that he swears kept their friendship as strong as it was, and it only gets him to smile. ‘ i guess you’re right, crash. i can’t hang on shit that i can’t stop. it sucks but... is what it is at the end of the day. ’

  impulse brings knuckles to kobra’s arm,  a light punch  &  nothing too hard  (  surprisingly doesn’t want his ass kicked right now  ) ,  eyes temporarily narrowing in his direction.  if he called himself nowhere near superstitious,  like he wants to,  that’d be a damn LIE. 

       ❝ shh,  you’re gonna end up pushin’ it !  then what’cha gonna do,  talk smack to a dangerous ghost ? ❞

      feigns injury, grasping the spot that’s VERY LIGHTLY tapped with a faux expression of betrayal etched onto his face. but as quick as it comes, it’s gone, and it’s replaced with a soft chuckle as kobra leans against the counter.
