The girl stomped her feet, tugging on the seated boy's hair, making him cry louder.

“Oh come on Zansei! Don't be such a big baby!! I barely even touched you!”

“Get up and stop crying! I'm not gonna play with you anymore!!”

The boy looked up at his sister, tears running down his face. He pulled a face, staring up with justified anger.

“Akiko, leave me alone! You're so mean! Mama just made this for me and you made me rip it…”

He looked down at what was once a new and fancy robe. The skirt portion was now ripped, scraped knees visible from his “fall”. His sister was such a bully.

Akiko sneered at him, tugging his hair again.

“Crybaby! No wonder you have no friends.”

Zansei glared up at her. His little face streaked with tears but his eyes were now fierce. He spoke the words every siblings fears.

“I’m telling mom.”

Akiko froze. She let her brother’s hair slip from her hand and she stared. Wide eyed. A whisper came out when she spoke now.

“You wouldn't dare.”

Zansei pushed himself from the ground, and turned towards their home and began marching. Determined now. Akiko stood for a second and then ran after him, shouting.

“Zansei no! Wait! I-I was kidding!! I didn't mean it– Don't tell Mom! I'll –uh…I'll do your chores for you! For a whole week!”

Zansei ignored her aside from swatting at her with his tail. She panicked and tried to grab him. But missed.
