That’s the same damn thing Yumichika’s shikai does!

Except that Yumichika’s shikai doesn’t also hurt himself and require a third party’s intervention. That’s the best Kubo could come up with?! It’s unoriginal and it’s blown out of the water by a shikai he already revealed. No wonder Shuhei never uses this thing--it’s the most goddamn useless thing I’ve ever seen. Why would he bother when his shikai is way more lethal for no damage to himself?

I know this is old news, but I just learned that the villain of the Can't Fear Your Own World novel series is the noble who murdered Tosen's friend, a lot of factions still have people floating around, the Soul Society-before-Soul King and how the Bleach world formed in general is apparently a major plot point of contention, everyone has different agendas, and there's a ridiculous amount of things happening. It's already 12 chapters long. I don't know how to feel about this.

If there’s an official english translation, let me know.

You know, Kubo, some of this information could’ve been put in all those scenes where you had Kenpachi being the greatest at everything.

When i read all these posts, i feel that deep down you regret reading Bleach. Its like a waste of your time for you to read it.

After having looked through my old posts from last year, I don’t blame you for getting that impression. I did a lot of raging without ever having a break to mention the positives.

In my defense though, the Thousand Year Blood War arc was 200 fucking chapters long. I don’t blame myself for losing patience.

But I promise I don’t regret reading it. I’ve spent a year and a half on my Grimmjow in the rpc, and that’s a longer running streak than I’ve had on any other muses. I have a very angry writing critic in me, and he spent a lot of time tearing this thing down, but a lot of the rest of me loves Bleach.

you're really critical and negative about bleach, which interests me and leads me to tell you this question: What did you really think of bleach as a whole from chapter 1 to 686? what do you think of tite kubo as a writer. And finally, what would you rate this series 1-10?

If there is one thing I will say Bleach has over other series (and yes, I will wholeheartedly say it is a step above most manga even as much as I dislike it at times), it is that Tite Kubo is brilliant at design. He may suck at writing (and I do mean that he sucks ass) but design-wise, he’s just got everyone else beat.

Character design?

Location design?

Weapon design?

Art design?

All of it, flawless. A master did that. Kubo is easily ahead of Kishimoto and on par with Oda for that, and it keeps you reading no matter how bad the story gets.

If I grade the series on writing, it gets a C-. Tite Kubo’s better successes (Soul Society, Fake Karakura, Fullbringer) are overshadowed by the fact that his trashiest arcs are easily the longest (Hueco Mundo, Deicide, Thousand Year Blood War). I think as a writer, Kubo has something, but not really enough; he really needed to work with his editors or perhaps a writing partner on Bleach. He has what it takes to make a complete world, but perhaps not what it takes to make it function like a real one.

But on design, it simply gets an A++. No matter how sucky the writing, character oozes out of every line Kubo draws.

From 1-10, huh?

If an utterly mediocre series gets a 5/10, a flawless series gets a 10/10, and a garbage series gets a 1/10, then Bleach is probably a 7. It left me mad about quite a lot of things over the course of its story, but it also inspired the living fuck out of me. I can’t say I hated a series I have fifty OCs for, can I?

The new Ulquiorra design, Fuerza (or FuerZa I guess) is his new theme song to accompany it.

Ohhh, yeah, I saw this guy. He’s Ulquiorra with the Hogyoku inside him, right?

I listened to the song the whole way through, and it’s pretty badass. Really impressed with the live instrumentals they brought in.

All of this is really just making me wondering what a Grimmjow version would look like, honestly. Ulquiorra looks pretty badass here, like a fallen angel, what with the four wings and white body. I also want to hear what they’d compose for Grimmjow, since his theme is “Power to Strive” and it’s a musical orgasm.

I know you got tired of BBS a long time ago, but just for the sake of Bleach in general, I feel obligated to ask what you think of Fuerza and its subject matter (especially since Kubo himself came in to supervise the design)
