ur twenties is just reciting "life is tough but i am tougher" 500 times a day. sometimes thru tears

being 25 is like: im dying. im living my best life. im a failure. my life hasnt started. everything interesting has already happened to me. im achieving my dreams. im cutting my hair with kitchen scissors. im starting a skincare routine. im a corporate professional. im a sellout. im out of groceries. i have too many groceries. i am never going to be successful. i am going to win a hugo award before im 30. im crazy. im boring. i need to finish this essay. i need to finish this story. i need to start a newsletter. i need to start tweeting more. i need to stop tweeting. i need to ghost all my friends. i need to tell my friends i love them. i need to find a new apartment. i need to take out the trash. i am the trash that needs to be taken out. 

I love you overgrown gardens, i love you graffiti, i love you weeds growing through the cracks of the cement, i love you roof gardens, i love you vines climbing up walls, i love you nature and creativity overpowering governmental structures, i love you nature reclaiming abandoned buildings

no, I will not do my stupid human tasks, I will stare at the ceiling and yearn for something I'll never feel

i hate sharing the grocery store with other people why can’t they just wait outside until i’m done i want to enjoy my hobby of going to the grocery store

something I’ve learnt as I’ve grown older which has bought me so much peace, is that not everyone will understand you and that’s okay. a lot of people lack the life experience, emotional intelligence and empathy to ever understand your life and the choices that you’ve made. you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. you know your truth and anyone who chooses to make baseless judgements or misunderstand you, isn’t worth arguing with to convince them otherwise. this goes for family, friends, or even just random people on the internet

i know the mortifying ordeal of being known is real for too many of us, but consider this: someone saw you once and loved your hairstyle. someone loves your laugh, how you scrunch your nose when you find something funny. your birthday could be an old friend’s password. that one song you recommended to your crush a couple summers back could still be their favorite. you are in other people’s birthday party photos. someone could’ve fallen in love with you on public transportation. our lives intertwine beautifully and you, dear human, are a little piece of other people’s fond, lovely memories. part of the ordeal of being known implies the ordeal of being loved. 

every day i think about florence welch saying “the song ‘big god’  is about obviously, an unfillable hole in the soul, but mainly about someone not replying to my text.”

im not saying if lorde releases a new album all of the world’s problems will be resolved but that’s exactly what i’m saying
