Hello, it’s been a while everyone. I wanted to let you know what’s going on with this blog:

Number 1, I didn’t start this blog, my friend brought me on to help them and I came into possession when they lost interest. That being said, the characterization for these Gasters aren’t mine and I have a difficult time writing as them.

Number 2, I am making this an archive blog. I will no longer post asks or answer them, what is on this blog is what will remain on it.

Undertale: Mei or Symmetra

Outertale: has mastered every character but favors D.VA

Undertale

- All they have to do is mention the word “experiment” and he’s in- Of course he immediately trusts them that it’s safe, he knows they’d never hurt him- Though he’d prefer if they didn’t tape it. He gets camera shy- When they insist it might be useful for later evaluation, Gaster caves, letting them set it to record- They sit on the couch together, SO holding his hand and speaking quietly- Gaster starts to feel very sleepy…- It’s not long before they have him relaxed and ready to begin- They ask for a hug, a sciencey fact, things he would give up willingly in any state of mind- Then they ask him to sing- He’s a wonderful singer, but usually too shy to do it in front of anyone- He finishes three of their favorite songs until they decide he’s done enough, and break him from the trance- Gaster’s face is a bright violet as they watch the video together- But he lets them keep it, as long as they promise not to post it anywhere

Underfell

- It takes hours of persuasion- Sure, he trusts his SO not to kill him, but this is a whole new level of vulnerability- They finally win him over by bringing up that time they let Gaster run tests on their soul- If they could literally put their life in his hands and feel safe, he should be able to handle something silly like this- Once he begrudgingly agrees, they tell him to sit down and get comfortable- The sound of their voice and their gentle, rhythmic tapping against the table help him lower his guard- And of course, the first thing they do is ask exactly how he feels about them, since he never says it- They’re pleasantly shocked when he spills his heart to them, claiming a love so deep and boundless that he can barely contain it…- He’s blushing a little- Is he really hypnotized, or just taking advantage of the moment to be shamelessly honest?- His SO pretends not to notice- He even gives them a kiss before ‘waking up’- And immediately asks what happened, even as a red tint remains on his cheeks

Underswap

- This is one where Gaster does the hypnotizing- He’s got his own pendulum and everything all ready to go- Years before the war, he used to perform all kinds of little tricks and mind games for the children in his home village- Humans and monsters alike would come to watch the Ferryman work his magic - He tells his SO to lie down, and they just so happen to choose lying their head on his lap - This allows him to stroke their hair as he swings the pendulum back, and forth, and back…- Once their breathing has slowed, he asks how they’re feeling, any thoughts they’re having, etc- He just gets them to talk, all while keeping a hand on their head- They end up feeling cozy enough to fall asleep- It might not have been anything exciting or funny, but later, they wake up more relaxed than they’ve felt in weeks

Outertale

- Of course he’ll let them do it. Why? “‘Cause it sounds fun”- “Ooh you should make me act like a chicken! Make sure you put it on snapchat!”- SO has to explain that it doesn’t actually work that way outside of movies- Though a little disappointed, Gaster’s still down for it- He’ll try anything once- He sits in his favorite, cushiest armchair and closes his eyes- But whenever his SO starts talking to ease him into a pliable state, he giggles- Or he gets impatient and asks when the hypnotism is gonna happen- Which is never if he doesn’t stop distracting them- When Gaster has pulled out his phone to answer a text for the eighth time, his SO sighs and gives up- Gaster, well aware of his nonexistent attention span, feels a little guilty- So he runs around squawking like a chicken to cheer them up

Mertale

- Hypnotic mind control is already one of his abilities- It’s not a skill he had to practice for like US, but something he was born with - SO is only mildly uncomfortable with letting him use it on them- Not that they expect him to do anything bad on purpose -It’s just that with very little knowledge of humans, he might do something bad by accident- But when he pulls the puppy eyes and whines so sadly, they just can’t refuse- Gaster looks straight into their eyes, extending his telepathic field to reach their mind- They’re impressed with images and thoughts of…petting. Petting Gaster- And bringing him those squishy sour things from the shiny bag- SO leaves in a daze to go retrieve some gummy worms from the nearest store, bringing them back and feeding them to their fish while stroking his head- Later, they scold him because he’s not supposed to have gummy candy. It’s bad for his teeth- But then. The puppy eyes again. This human just can’t win

UT would feel miserable when walking past their room, let alone entering it. When he opens the door, he almost expects to see them sitting there, playing with the same toy that got them killed- it was always their favorite, that miniature truck- but all he sees is an abandoned room with dusty furniture. He sits on the edge of their bed and picks up their old blanket, hugging it tight and letting the soft cotton soak up his tears.

Surprisingly, UF would feel the most grief when gathering his child’s things. Their bed, blankets, and the teddy they’d been cuddling the night of the murder were already thrown away, too stained to keep. But he can still remember the blood that dripped off their stiff fingers onto the floor, the cloying smell of it, the sticky, fading warmth of when he picked them up for the last time. He stores everything into boxes, taking them out from time to time when his SO has gone to bed but he just cant sleep.

US does it methodically. Neatly folding clothes, gently stacking books, wrapping toys in bubble wrap before putting them away. He wants it all to last. Try as he might to keep it, his memory fades with the years, often alarmingly fast. Even now, he can't remember the sound of his first child’s voice, or his first mate’s face. But this child he will not forget. He has pictures. And, for the time being, he has the parent who looks so much like them. He won’t forget. He refuses.

Despite the bravery their loss brought forth in his soul, OT is despondent when it comes to this issue. He’s nearly tempted to have a maid tend to it. But how could he let someone else touch his child’s belongings, the art they worked tirelessly to create, all the pretty gifts their father lovingly picked for them just to show how much he cared? So he swallows hard and takes that first step down the hall. Later, when the messy, emotional process of tidying up is done, he hangs their best drawings in the foyer for all to see.

Undertale

- No matter what his SO does, he’s utterly inconsolable

- Gaster clings to them twice as much, which was already quite a lot to begin with

- For a while all he really does is cry

- His projects at the lab go untouched, anyone but his SO is mostly ignored

- He doesn't mean to brush them off. Everything is just too overwhelming right now, including the condolences from his friends

- His SO has to be the stronger one and handle burial arrangements, despite their own grief, because just the mention of a funeral can send Gaster into a panic attack

- The two try to spend as much time as possible together in the weeks after

- Though the loss of a child often drives couples apart, they’re determined to keep loving each other and make it through alright

- The death of anyone he loves would always hit Gaster hard

- But this one is particularly traumatic because he was there to watch it

- He’d taken them to their favorite park while their other parent ran errands

- Gaster stopped paying attention for only a minute to answer a phone call from work, and when he turned back around his child was in the middle of the street to retrieve a toy

- Not even teleporting got him there fast enough to stop the car

- He got away with only a few bruises, the kid didn’t even make it to the hospital alive

- Months later, Gaster still blames himself

- Chances are he always will

- This is mostly what makes having another child so hard, but it’s not impossible

- Just very, very unlikely

Underfell

- This Gaster has lots of enemies

- One of those enemies wanted to hit him where it would hurt

- He’s too strong to take on alone, and his SO sleeps beside him

- But their child stays the night in their own room

- Gaster is woken in the morning by his SO’s panicked cries as they check on their child

- There’s blood, so much blood, and he feels the bile rise as the back of his throat when he sees his baby in the middle of it all

- Any time he's in pain, he withdraws, much to his SO's dismay

- Not only do they need him right now, he needs them too. He's just too stubborn and independent to see it

- Gaster spends most of his time in the lab, door locked, not a sound coming from inside

- His SO has trouble getting a word out of him whenever they do see each other

- They think he must be plotting revenge against the killer, but really...

- He’s just sitting there

- Either drinking or numbing his mind with Echo

- Sometimes he looks at photos of his little one and feels his throat start to close

- Having another child is out of the question

- Gaster was already wary about having the first one until his SO convinced him he’d be a good dad

- Knowing now that he might not be able to protect his family has convinced him they were wrong

Underswap

- This is the second time he's lost a child

- The first was centuries ago when he was (relatively) young and carefree

- They were taken by the plague

- He feels it's a bitter, ironic twist of fate that this child should die from an illness too

- It seemed like nothing more than a cold

- Then all at once, their health began to decline

- They woke up convulsing, prompting their parents to rush them to the hospital

- Gaster put aside his fear of modern medicine to let the doctors do their work

- Later, he felt like he should've intervened and used his magic to heal them, but maybe it wouldn't have made a difference

- It hurts more than he thought it would

- Not that he didn't expect to mourn, but he's suffered plenty of losses in the past

- This one feels so raw and poignant that at times, despite his better judgment, he doesn't know how to go on

- If his SO weren't there to support him, he doesn't know what he'd do

- They stay close and work through their grief together, and Gaster tries not to think about how one day, he'll lose them too

Outertale

- He and his SO attend lots of rallies, strikes, and other events for monster rights

- Gaster makes use of his wealth and status to help in any way he can, and remains outwardly supportive of the cause despite countless threats

- One day, what was supposed to be a peaceful protest turns violent

- Human hate groups came with guns. Supposedly, they never intended to cause harm, only to scare the protesters away

- But someone fired

- Nobody knows if it was intentional or an accident. Either way the consequences are the same

- The bullet hit Gaster's child, there for their first protest after months of begging their parents to take them along

- He's furious when the shooter escapes with the panicked crowd

- And then terrified as his SO presses down on the wound to stem the bleeding, both of them waiting for the ambulance to arrive

- It doesn't come fast enough

- Gaster just wants to give up. On everything

- But the pain inspires something in him, redoubling his efforts from before

- He's going to make sure this never happens to anyone else

- His SO is fully supportive

- The two take time to grieve, then get right back to work

- It's pretty likely they'll try for another kid, but only years later

Mertale

- As one might expect, they drowned

- Gaster had been teaching them how to swim whenever they came to visit

- SO seemed nervous about this, but trusted Gaster to keep their child afloat if they started to sink

- Within months, they were an excellent swimmer, able to keep up with their dad and play diving games

- Unknown to their parents, they had started visiting the beach at night for extra practice

- Neither of them suspects a thing, assuming the kid got some sort of swimming genes from their father

- But one night they swim out too far

- Gaster only ever let them stay in the shallows. Here, the water is at least twenty feet deep, and the waves toss them around helplessly

- Too tired to keep flailing, they go under

- The moonlight is too dim to see through the water, unlike the sun when they had swum during the day

- Meaning they can't tell which way is up, or down, only that the little bit of light is fading away

- They stay beneath the surface for a long, long time, and eventually float back up

- Their body might've been lost to sea forever if Gaster hadn't found it

- His SO hasn't seen him in weeks

- As far as they know, Gaster and their child suddenly went missing

- It wouldn't be at all like him to take them and run. And besides, where would he go? The kid can't breathe underwater

- Though they visit the beach every day and call for him, the police sending out search parties to look for their child, they don't see either member of their family ever again

Undertale

- As a child, one of the places he always dreamt of seeing was a beach- So it should come as no surprise that soon after getting a life started on the surface, he sets out to find one- He invites a few friends on a road trip to the shore- And once they finally get there, Gaster is stunned- The ocean is more beautiful than he ever could have imagined- He sits quietly by himself for a while, letting his feet hang over the edge of the pier and watching the waves- And soon, as the sun is setting, he hears a song- He’s too far from the boardwalk for it to be coming from a radio, yet it’s close. The voice is low and haunting- It almost sounds like it’s coming from…below him?- His eyes start to go hazy as he leans closer to the water, where a dark shape has taken form- It pushes above the surface- Gaster gasps- It’s a person…and they’re so pretty! He tells them so, gushing over how gorgeous their singing was, and wow is that a tail? It’s so shiny and colorful!- And I mean, the merperson had planned on drowning him, but how could they when he’s such a cutie???- The two talk for hours, teaching each other about their respective species- The merperson explains that they thought Gaster was a human. Otherwise they wouldn’t have used their trance on him- Reasonably horrified, Gaster asks why they would want to drown anyone at all- Bitterly, they tell how human pollution, commercial fishing, and general disregard for the environment have fucked their people over- Gaster gently suggests that murder might not be the answer- Though they aren’t perfect yet, there are laws in place to keep monsters safe from hateful humans- He personally knows Asgore, king of all monsters, and he might be able to pull some strings to have merpeople included- And in time he does, all while keeping his new friend updated on his progress- Laws aren’t the only thing they talk about, of course- He gets to hear about life in the ocean, their family, more of their enthralling voice- The more they meet, the stronger his feelings for them become

- In turn, the merperson thinks he’s just the sweetest cinnamon roll they’ve ever met- The two start dating within weeks

Underfell

- When the lab he works for on the surface announces a company beach trip, Gaster has zero interest in going- But when he starts thinking of all the samples he could take, the potential for studying the local ecosystem, well…- Nobody better expect him to bring a swimsuit. He’s going only for the Science- What the dingus fails to realize is how crowded the beaches can get- Gaster’s wandering around, fully dressed, carrying a sample tube and tweezers, and nearly trips over someone stretched out on a towel- Some kids start crying when he steps on their sandcastle, and yeah he can be an asshole but that one was legitimately an accident- He irritably stomps off towards the emptier end, where the rocks and sand dunes drop more sharply towards the ocean- Technically no one is allowed down here because it’s ‘dangerous’, a notion that only makes Gaster scoff and roll his eyes- Not for the first time, arrogance gets him into trouble- He’s climbing up a sharp incline, determined to get a scraping of that moss at the top, when his foot slips- He stumbles, falls, and lands in the water below, panicking as he realizes two things: 1) it’s too deep to stand in 2) he can’t swim or float- He actually panics so badly that he forgets that teleporting out is an option- Thrashing around only sends him further below the surface, but someone has started dragging him towards the shore- The stranger tosses him onto the sand, leaving him sputtering and soaked- And calls him an idiot- Gaster would snap at them, but he’s still too busy coughing and trying not to pass out- His savior sighs, helping him sit up- When he finally comes around, he looks up to see what would look like a human…if not for the fish tail- Some sort of half-monster maybe? Whatever they are, he’s fascinated by them- And asks to take a few samples- The merperson insists that they could always toss him back in the water, if he likes- Always drawn to people who could and would kick his ass, given the chance, Gaster resolves to visit them for every remaining day of his vacation- Only to study them, of course. Not because he likes them- And curiosity is totally why he regularly returns to the beach long after the company trip is over- And why he ends up moving to the coast so he can see them every day- Not like he’s got a crush or anything. That’d be absurd

Underswap

- Unlike the others, he stays away from the beach- It’s too hot, crowded, and full of strangers for his liking- But he does love rivers and lakes, forest streams, quiet and isolated bodies of water- And while sailing on one such lake, something bumps his boat- Puzzled, but writing it off as a large fish or turtle, he continues watching the moon’s reflection on the water- Until it happens again- This bump has enough force to make the boat rock, and Gaster’s a little worried about it tipping over- He peers over the edge and sees a tail disappearing beneath the water- A huge tail, more like a shark than a regular fish- Whatever it is, it keeps smacking his boat from all sides- Whenever Gaster turns to catch a glimpse of the thing, it switches sides, sometimes splashing him with water from behind and making him squeak in surprise- At last, he sees his tormentor and smiles, pleasantly surprised- It’s a lake mer. He’s no longer confused; their kind is known for being playful and mischievous, but they rarely mean any harm- They grin, sticking their tongue out at him, and Gaster laughs- Whenever he rides on that particular lake, the mer always visits, toying with him to hear his giggles- Gaster awes them with little bits of magic, tales from older times, and what few pieces of human culture he’s learned from his time on the surface- The mer reveals that they’ve been alone in this lake for years, with only the occasional camper or teenager to mess with- No one ever stays to talk. In fact, they often run screaming- Gaster knows that feel- He admits that it’s been a while since he’s had good company too- They spend an awful lot of time together. It shocks neither of them when their feelings develop into something stronger

Outertale

- He takes a trip to the aquarium- They’ve been advertising a new, exciting exhibit, and Gaster is eager to see it- However, once he gets there, he’s horrified to see a being from his home galaxy being kept in a tank like an animal- Though not from his own planet, they’re a subspecies of monster from a neighboring ocean world- Their kind has a rich history and culture, as they’re known for being particularly intelligent and creative- And it’s odd for one to stay still, since they’re usually full of energy- This one is curled up under a rock at the back of their enclosure, obviously scared and miserable. Gaster can’t take it- He demands to see the park’s manager- Even after he’s explained the situation- loudly, with lots of shouting and wild gestures- they claim there’s nothing they can do - Until Gaster threatens to sue. According to the peace treaties between his kind and humans, this is a major violation of monster rights- The managers are suddenly okay with putting the Mer in Gaster’s custody- Though the aquarium handlers did their best, they clearly had no idea what sort of care a Mer needs. They’re sickly and dazed as Gaster takes them home- He sacrifices his in-ground pool for their sake, filling it with nitrogen enriched saltwater as a temporary home- Gaster personally sees to their rehabilitation, talking to them often whenever he brings food or medicine- Though they’re quiet for the first few days, they soon begin responding, comforted by the fact that he’s also new to this planet- It’s been a scary new experience, especially considering the awful welcome they got - Gaster ensures that they live in luxury, their every need met- And when the time comes where the Mer is strong enough for a journey back to their homeworld, they don’t really feel like going- Gaster has an entire wing of his mansion remodeled and filled with water for their use- He wears scuba gear for their wedding in the Pacific Ocean a year later

Mertale

- He’s wandered the ocean alone for years since his exile- Most of his time is spent hunting, collecting shells, chasing his tail- Sometimes he’ll even build himself a friend out of rocks and talk to it- He’s gradually going feral from isolation, yet still has the sanity to recognize it- So when he catches a glimpse of what looks like another Mer in the distance, he doesn’t get too excited- It was either a big fish or pure imagination- But then he sees it again, closer this time- Days pass and he keeps seeing them. Always getting closer, lingering longer and longer each time- Feeling like he’s losing his mind, he finally screams at them (telepathically) to go away- And he gets a response- Either he’s gone full bonkers, or there really is someone else there- The images and feelings they send are desperate, lonely, afraid…pretty much exactly like his own- Yet they still won’t show themselves- Gaster starts leaving out gifts, mostly food like freshly caught eel- He scrawls greetings into rocks along the seafloor, telling them his name- Later, he’s ecstatic to see the fish is gone, and replies have been gouged under his messages- It takes a lot of these indirect interactions before the strange Mer finally meets him face to face- They were recently kicked out of their kingdom as well, separated from all family and friends- Unlike gaster, they haven’t been able to adjust- The two become fast friends, eventually mates, each happy to have found something after losing everything
