hazbin hotel season 2 finale...
I'm giving my final opinion on this and all I can say is: "Wow, that was severely anti-climactic". Before getting into this anymore please let it be known I love Vox as a villain and as a character, so you can imagine my surprise when at the very end, Vox just ceases to exist as a villain anymore and we don't hear or see anything from him. It's not only just that the MAIN VILLAIN OF THE SERIES doesn't get any screen time at the end, it's the fact that it feels like not a lot got solved?...hell, the main character (Charlie) doesn't have any growth besides "omg!! im a bad daughter bc i yelled at my dad" in that one scene in the 2 episode finale. I was really really hoping that Lilith was going to appear and set the record straight who was on top in hell, but sadly it never happened (even though it would've made more sense, she has literally existed for 2 seasons with all this mystery that is making the fans more and more angry at her she really needs her time to shine..) I would also like to point out that Lute's little plot point literally didn't get used at all. She was going crazy for one episode, hallucinating about Adam and obviously showing she is a threat to herself and others and then....nothing really happens? Like, yea she really wants to kill all of hell but that was the point in the beginning of S1, wish we had more development on her especially since we got a song dedicated to her grief. And I know, I already know i'm going to make so many people angry about three of my takes here but here it goes:
I don't really like radioapple
2. Lucifer feels like a wasted plot device in ep. 8
3. Alastor needs to stop being babied by the fandom
Now, before some of you continue beating me up I would like to explain these 3 takes I have. Radioapple has always been weird to me, specifically the romantic one (I am 100% okay with platonic friends) but them together just doesn't sit right with me...especially since we don't know the full story with Lucifer and Lilith but everyone is so stuck on setting Lilith as the "bad person" when I feel like there is more to the story than her just getting tired of Lucifer and leaving him, not only that, the only chemistry that they would have would be "enemies to lovers" and honestly, its pretty cliche which makes me personally not like it too much... I literally have tried liking it multiple times, but I just cant see it as anything except a crack ship and I feel really bad about not being able to relate to literally one, if not THE most popular hazbin hotel ship besides radiostatic/radiosilence, husker dust, chaggie, and lucililith. Now that i'm writing this some people might go "why did this come up in a personal take of S2 finale?" well to answer your question, its because I already can tell that radioapple is going to be shoved down my throat during S3 and already happening with their constant bickering during the capture scene for lucifer (which was hilarious), and having to mute stuff that I personally don't really like gets tedious, so I am probably going to quit looking at hazbin hotel fandom so much during S3, unless it plays out differently.
Lucifer feels like a wasted plot device, I genuinely don't know how he could fall for that kind of trap (or anyone tbh). Did he not notice the pfp on his phone changed? Or how robotic Charlie's voice sounded.. I might be being a little too harsh but I just feel like it felt very forced? Because why would your daughter bring you to some shady place and you have no second thoughts on it after having a huge fight with her and then she sounds normal again..? Like, wouldn't that be suspicious π?? Anyways, he gets trapped and zaps heaven ultimately leading to the little tiny war that they have and then they all come together in a "friendship conquers all" moment and blast the heaven death ray to bits and pieces and Lucifer gets removed from it....and then that's it? Was that all Lucifer was useful for this season...? I really want to like Lucifer as a character more, and seeing how his powers don't work against sinners and how its punishment was interesting, and so was this but nothing else was done with his character. HE BARELY EVEN GOT A SONG TO HIMSELF. Give my man a break, and honestly, more character development he needs a bigger brain π
I think this might be my biggest take, and the one I might get flamed for the most; ALASTOR NEEDS TO STOP BEING BABIED BY THE FANDOM. He is a master manipulator, a serial killer, practiced rituals to talk to demons during his human life; AND HE GETS JOY FROM DOING ALL OF IT. I refuse to believe this guy is capable of being redeemed, he doesn't even want it for himself. People might argue "But wait! He really cares for Niffty and the Hotel!" and honestly, I call BS on that. Niffty is helpful to him, and very nice to him so of course, he's going to act nice back (much like how Vox would sweet talk Valentino into getting what he wants). He doesn't care for Charlie either, he sees her as a stepping stool for more power, this was proven obvious as his deal with Charlie was made and then done for the "litle favor", he did not do that to "help Charlie" he did it to help his full plan; Getting her to admit Vox was the strongest in hell, Vox touchng Charlie, Alastor gets free of Rosies other deal, Vox effs off to god knows where, and Alastor remains the "strongest sinner in hell" (as I suspect Rosie and him made yet another deal off screen because of the ending portion of ep 8). His new main plan is probably going to be trying to manipulate Lucifer as in Charlies words "he seems happier now" and then he's looking directly at Lucifer. Moving on from the subject of his relationship with the Morningstars and allat, the Vox capturing him scene irked me kind of..people were painting a picture as if Alastor wasn't just as bad as Vox just because he was tied up (still was the strongest in hell btw, could've untied himself the deal still would have stood because he is still essentially Vox's prisoner by label). The 'gross scene' with Vox and Val making Alastor watch feels like the S2 version of Pentious being dragged to a room by random sinners (iykyk) and honestly, yea it was gross to make him watch and I would NEVER condone SA, but having to see people babying Alastor, like he's some helpless little fawn with dumbass hair, made me a little annoyed since he could've just killed Vox at any time, or just got out from the chair and not have to look at thatπ€·; It is not confirmed if Vox made Alastor forcefully look (another mini hole in the story, awesome) but the fandom is very 50/50 on it being implied or not, which I feel could've been helped if it was just addressed in the episode.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading my little (actually terribly long) rant about this Shows finale, This is my first ever thing im doing ever on tumblr besides liking other peoples opinions and I am very excited to share mine.
Again, thank you for reading!
