Q flashed M a second of a small smile. He put down his cup and grabbed the other strip befor stuffing them into his bag he’d brought along. “I’ll look into the strips when I get back to the lab. First I have to find someone to cat sit for me” he shrugged.

“So you are aware of that.” He huffed softly. Then why the bloody hell did he have to accompany M on this trip to the US? He’d rather much stay at home. “I suppose I have to packing to do. If you don’t need to ruin my day anymore I better get going” Q raised himself from the chair looking M in the eyes.

“I assume that Q-Branch can deal without while you sort out your obligations.”, M drawled and was already pulling the marked file towards himself. A part of him had the feeling that he would have some phonecalls to make before he left for the US.

Bond had caused exactly the kind of havoc that one would expect from the man and M had spent the time since his return from his vacation mostly doing damage control.

The agent’s results could not be argued with, but still, M wished that the man would exercise some restraint. At least sometimes.

Those were only some of the thoughts that swirled through his mind as he sat in the back of the car that would bring him and Q to the airport at 5:23 in the morning. Seven minutes earlier than originally planned and three and a half hours before departure. Just in case.

“Shall I call him, sir?”, Tanner asked from the seat beside M as they sat and waited across the street from Q’s residence.
