i am, by no means, a man of religion. yet i still look to religious texts to shape the person i wish to become.
Per the Bible: “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
forgiveness is a virtue that is far and few between in this modern era, and i believe it is not because the faults of the common man but rather the attacks on truth by those who claim themselves righteous. the foundation of forgiveness is comfort and growth. you do not forgive because you love them, or because they did you a solid a few weeks ago. you forgive them because without it you cannot rise above the darkness they cast over you. i forgive the man, but my blame does not disappear. i do not blame the man, but instead the moment in that man’s judgement that gave him the opportunity to wrong me.
