can angels wear knight armour?
sure, but i imagine it'd be even more exhausting for them to wear than clothes.
call that a shining knight in armor [sic]
basically i imagine that for anything that requires physical contact, they have to consciously keep their bodies "solidified", which would be more difficult when trying to "lift up"/wear heavier things!! the anatomy thing is really interesting though, i don't think they always strive for 100% anatomical accuracy, a vague shape that fits will do. most of the time, for most of them, maybe.
I don't know how plasma works either so i don't call it that officially . or else the scientists would get me, surely. Its some fantasy pseudoscientific thing , don't ask them what exactly
been practicing some mixed media art, and been designing a paladin for a curse of strahd game!! his name is avery garland, his vibes are gonna be a mashup of sanguinius and solaire so i am currently making an oath of sunlight with my dm!!
ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A KNIGHT...
the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin
this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.
you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.
also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.

March to Camelot: an arthurian palette challenge for march 2024
When: March 1st to 31st Rules: The objective is to try to draw something Arthurian inspired by each word prompt using the palette provided. This could be anything from a full illustration to a character design. You have 5 days to complete each prompt, except for the last prompt where you get 6 days. If you have any questions, please feel free to send an ask. Why: I've been running a B5 palette challenge over on my fanart blog for the past couple of years and thought it'd be fun to do something similar with Arthurian Legend, even if it ended up just being me doing it. :') Finally, remember to tag your work #march to camelot or @ me so I can reblog and share your work. Happy drawing!
i am very tempted to try thissss, i adore the colour palettes as an addendum as well

EX VOTO chapter I (Cassin and Colet)
ex voto is a series of short scenes and chapters, sometimes connected, sometimes standalone stories, with no set genre other than that there's a monk for a main character, and occassionally a knight. Intended for adult audiences.
🍎 ex voto (like all comics I post here!) will always be free to read, but you can support my ability to continue making it through ko-fi or patreon (coming soon!)
(fitzjames voice) god wants you to live
for this, actually, God has very little to do with it. Colet wants Cassin to live, and that was before they ever spoke a word to each other. Cassin finds life and living to be a holy thing now, and that's because Colet refused to let him die. to wake up when you thought you would die (and maybe, were hoping for it) and to find the stranger who stitched the wound on your side together, asleep mid prayer, rosary in his hands, at your side is something. devotion, after all, is a kind of love. so is care given without expectation of reward. so is telling the abbot that God can fuck off, what's the point of free will otherwise?
this comic is the more fully realized version of the initial thought I had about some Themes all the way back in may! I have a couple more chapters planned out for Cassin and Colet, and then there's some monastic horror I want to tackle once I get done reading this book on grail quest narratives.
and! the final note here: the latin text, that's the Hail Mary. we'll get into it in a later chapter, but Colet's identification with Mary is because medieval Mariology is an extremely fun time to read about. the gender is incredible.
