A recent commission for a Cleric D&D character - I had a lot of fun working on the robes and designing the staff!
💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Fey Wanderer’s Cloak Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement) ___ Planar energy from the Feywild has imbued this cloak with latent trans-dimensional magic. While wearing it, you can magically sense the direction to any portal to the Feywild within 1 mile of you. The cloak has 3 charges and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn, or all expended charges if you are a fey, have the fey ancestry trait, or are in the Feywild. While wearing the cloak, you can expend 1 of its charges to cast the “misty step” spell. When you do, you can choose to cause flowers to grow from the ground and bloom in any space within 5 feet of where you leave or appear as part of the spell (your choice each time). When you do, other creatures within those spaces must then succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you until the end of your next turn or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it. ___ ✨ Patrons get huge perks! Access this and hundreds of other item cards, art files, and compendium entries when you support The Griffon’s Saddlebag on Patreon for as little as $3 a month!
Mountain shepherds by Ivan Yakushev
Settlement: Irodorre
Background & Environment: At the base of a thundering waterfall and hidden amidst towering, icecapped mountains is the drow settlement of Irodorre. Set at the mouth of a winding subterranean river system on the edge of the underdark, the settlement was constructed for the purpose of trading with the surface dwelling clans of dwarves and goliath herds that make their home among the mountains. Trade has prospered and seen the settlement grow into a thriving mix of cultures as two worlds mingle.
Mood & Themes: Gateway between realms of wonder, rough and tumble frontier town but with elves, easy money and culture clash.
Who’s Hiring:
Irodorre only works thanks to an elaborate series of river locks that let vessels traverse the sudden elevation changes between the neighbouring underdark’s different water systems. In addition to being marvels of engineering, these locks also serve as a network of fortresses that protect the settlement from the monstrous denizens of the below. Its a lonely job manning the forts, but it pays well, and an ambitious party could make use of their garrisoned fort as a home base form which to go on excursions into the deeper caverns.
The mountain port extracts heavy fees from those that which to do business there, which means there is profit in circumventing such regulations. A Band of smugglers known collectively as “The Riverbed” is looking to expand, and if the players are clever enough to avoid the garrison during their initiation, they’ll find fast friends among these fellow scoundrels.
Summer in the mountains means a proliferation of hungry drakes swarming the nearby passes looking for food before mating season. This obviously poses a danger to both travelers and trade, but provides a good opportunity for hunters looking to cull the herd. Grim Gaddok is just such a hunter, a graying old dwarf who was hunting drakes in the mountains before the port of Irodorre was even constructed. Should the players be willing to learn and not fear the threat of drakefire they will find a true mentor in Gaddok and a small fortune to be made in selling hides and salvaged bone to the merchants of Irodorre
Rumors & Goings on:
There’s been a marked increase in encounters with Derro all along the river network, and those with an eye to such things are worried this is a prelude to some kind of swarm or invasion. The Derro are mad dwarf-kin who have lived for generations beneath the earth and have had their minds shattered by the dark forces that dwell in the darkest depths.
A famed goliath arbiter by the name of Telhu the Warqueller is holding council in the main market square, providing guidance in exchange for donations on her pilgrimage to the drow capital where she is set to mediate a royal inheritance dispute. It’s said she’s persisted through her journey despite two assassination attempts, and everyone is on edge for a potential third.
The Mothlight, a famed river trading vessel has been lost somewhere in the underdark along with all hands. Rumors fly about its ultimate fate but the trading house that supplies it is hurrying to put together an expedition to see it found.
💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Clockwork Healerbee Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement) ___
This pill-shaped magical mechanism is 2 inches long and made of brass. It has a pair of tiny wings that silently keep it aloft. It hovers up to 5 feet above the ground and does its best to stay at your side within your space. The bee can enter and pass through another creature’s space and does not provoke opportunity attacks.
The bee has 8 charges and regains 1d6 + 2 expended charges daily at dawn. While the bee is within your space, you can speak its command word and expend up to 3 of its charges as a bonus action to command the bee to heal a creature that you can see within 20 feet of you. The bee flies to the creature’s space and touches its stinger to the creature, emitting a bright light that fills the bee’s space and healing the creature for 1d6 hit points for each expended charge. After healing the creature, the bee returns to your space.
The bee is considered a magical object and is not a creature. It has AC 15, 10 hit points, and has resistance to all damage types. If the "mending" spell is cast on the bee while it has at least 1 hit point, it regains 2d6 hit points. If the bee drops to 0 hit points, it can’t be used again for 24 hours, at which point it regains all its hit points. ___

Favorite Trilogy
My favorite trilogy.
The Lyoness Trilogy by Jack Vance.
More here.

Don't know why the link is weird.
My current collection of dnd tokens for the ISD campaign. Very proud of them so far. Some of them I definitely am less happy for how they came out because I was still trying to figure out how to draw on such a tiny canvas, but I got the hang of it! Who's who below the cut.
⚔️ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Sunfire Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a cleric or paladin) ___
This gilded device has an orb at its base with a pair of sunburst pendants. Each pendant is affixed to either side of the orb, which generates a carefully managed and concentrated source of magical sunlight within the orb. From there, the sunlight is channeled through a prismatic barrel into a narrow beam using a series of crystal lenses.
This item is a unique, one-handed ranged weapon, which can be used even if you aren’t attuned to it. If you are proficient with hand crossbows or are attuned to the weapon, you are proficient with the "sunfire".
The weapon has the light property, and it has a normal range of 100 feet and a long range of 400 feet. On a hit, a target takes 2d6 radiant damage, or 2d8 radiant damage if you are attuned to it. You don’t add your Dexterity modifier to the damage of this attack (unless it’s negative), but can add your spellcasting ability modifier if you’re attuned to the weapon. If the target has the Sunlight Sensitivity or Sunlight Hypersensitivity trait, such as a drow or vampire, it’s considered to be in sunlight until the end of its next turn.
If you’re not attuned to the weapon and roll a 1 on the attack roll using the weapon, one of the attached sunburst pendants crumbles to dust and is destroyed. For each missing pendant, the weapon’s radiant damage is reduced by one damage die. You can use an action to replace a pendant with a new one, which must be worth at least 100 gp. ___

This small stone keep has been converted into a luxurious residence for the local baron/baroness, from which they can govern and administer their lands. The surrounding countryside is mostly peaceful, and therefore the perimeter wall and guard post exist largely to keep out unwanted visitors and minor threats.
++++
I inspired by Critical Role's Greyskull Keep for this update, and designed the manor to serve as either the home of a powerful NPC or as a suitable reward for an accomplished adventuring party.
This 30x30 map has three above ground layers + a basement, and is available on my Patreon in PNG/VTT format without watermark and grid/gridless + night/day variants. I also included a PDF description of each floor with its files.

Beneath the spires and stones, the canals and isles, the Catacombs breathe...
Needlessly confusing spells by school
Abjuration: When you suffer wounds, history alters so that you actually suffered that wound 10 years ago, changing your past but making it so it's fully healed now.
Conjuration: Summons another version of yourself who reveals they're the real you and you're the version of yourself that they just summoned with this spell.
Divination: Make a random guess about the answer to a question you've been given. That is now the correct answer, no matter what the answer was before.
Enchantment: Self-targeted enchantment spell that alters your goals and motivations so that whatever the people around you are currently doing is what you want them to do.
Evocation: Spell that completely destroys the world and then instantly replaces it with a copy that's completely identical except the target in front of you is on fire.
Illusion: Retroactively reveal that anything around you never existed and was an illusion this whole time.
Necromancy: Spell that inverts the categories of dead and alive, so that the corpse is alive despite being inanimate and rotting while the person is dead despite walking around and complaining about it.
Transmutation: Frog prince spell but when they get true love's kiss they turn into a completely different human from the one they started as.
